ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਹੀ) ਵੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ
To love the Lotus Feet of the Lord-this way of life has come into the minds of His Saints.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਣਾ (ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਉਲਟੀ ਰੀਤਿ ਜਾਪਦੀ ਹੈ, ਨੀਤੀ ਦੇ ਉਲਟ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੰੁਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਪਸੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ
The love of duality, this evil practice, this bad habit, is not liked by the Lord's slaves.
ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ (ਸਦਾ) ਵੱਸਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
His Lotus Feet dwell in the minds of His devotees.
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਦੂਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੱਥੀਂ) ਲੁੱਟੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Without the Transcendent Lord, all are plundered.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸਾਵਣ ਵਿਚ (ਵਰਖਾ ਨਾਲ ਬਨਸਪਤੀ ਹਰਿਆਵਲੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਉਹ) ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿਆਵਲੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਸ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
In the month of Saawan, the soul-bride is happy, if she falls in love with the Lotus Feet of the Lord.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ) ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Her mind and body are imbued with the Love of the True One; His Name is her only Support.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ਕੇ
Worship and adore the Lotus Feet of the Lord God.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ (ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ) ਚਿੰਤਾ ਮਿਟ ਗਈ ਹੈ ।੨।
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, my anxiety has come to an end. ||2||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੱੁਖ ਦੀ) ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
One who is in love with the Lord's Lotus Feet,
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਸੁਖ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ ।੩।
does not think of any other comforts. ||3||
(ਜਿਵੇਂ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਲਾਲਚੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਧਨ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਮਨਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
As the greedy man rejoices upon beholding his wealth,
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲਪਟਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
so is the mind of the Lord's humble servant attached to His Lotus Feet. ||3||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ
Those humble beings who are accustomed to the Lord's sublime essence,
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿੱਝੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਭੌਰਾ ਫੁੱਲ ਵਿਚ ਵਿੱਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
are pierced through with loving devotional worship of the Lord's Lotus Feet. ||1||Pause||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਵਿਕਾਰ-ਵਾਸਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ) ।
My eyes are purified, beholding the Blessed Vision of His Darshan.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਮੱਥੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਛੋਹ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ।
Blessed is the forehead which touches His Lotus Feet.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਏ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ ।੧।
Meditating, meditating, meditating in remembrance, I have found peace.
(ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ । ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ)
I have enshrined the Lotus Feet of the Guru within my heart. ||1||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਭਟਕਣ ਦੀ ਖੂਹੀ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਸਕੇ (ਉਸ ਖੂਹੀ ਵਿਚ) ਚਿੱਕੜ ਹੈ, (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਪਈ ਹੋਈ) ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਬੜੀ ਪੱਕੀ (ਤ੍ਰਿੱਖੀ) ਹੈ ।
Superstition is the well, thirst for pleasure is the mud, and emotional attachment is the noose, so tight around your neck.
ਇਸ ਫਾਹੀ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਟਣ-ਜੋਗਾ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਹੀ ਹੈ । (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਸ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ-ਕਮਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰੀ ਰੱਖ ।੧।
The only one who can cut this is the Guru of the World, the Lord of the Universe. So let yourself dwell at His Lotus Feet. ||1||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਰਾਧਿਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੇਟ ਦੇ ਨਰਕ-ਕੁੰਡ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
He saves us from the hellish pit of the womb, and carries us across the terrifying world-ocean.
ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਸਹਮ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Adoring His Lotus Feet in the mind, the fear of death is banished. ||2||
ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ, ਉਹ ਸਮਾ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਮਝੋ ਜਦੋਂ (ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਮੱਥਾ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਲੱਗੇ ।
CHACHA: Blessed, blessed is that day, when I became attached to the Lord's Lotus Feet.
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ, ਜੀਵ) ਚੌਹੀਂ ਤਰਫ਼ੀਂ ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਭੀ ਭਟਕ ਆਵੇ
After wandering around in the four quarters and the ten directions,
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਭਗਤ ਸਦਾ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ) ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
Countless devotees continually bow in reverence to Him.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕਮਲਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ (ਸੋਹਣੇ) ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
In their hearts, they meditate on His Lotus Feet.
ਹੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ! ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀਲੇ ਛੱਡ ਦਿਉ ,
Forget all other efforts, O my friend
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਕਮਲ (ਵਰਗੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ) ਚਰਨ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਉ ।
- enshrine the Lord's Lotus Feet within your heart.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਕਮਲ (ਵਰਗੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ) ਚਰਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋ ਰੱਖ,
Enshrine the Lord's Lotus Feet in your mind;
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਈ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ;
the sins of countless lifetimes shall depart.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਕਮਲ (ਵਰਗੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ) ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲੱਗੀ ,
May I enshrine affection for Your Lotus Feet.
ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ।
May I perform devotional worship to God each and every day.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ) ਮੋਹ, ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ।
Emotional attachment, pride and doubt are eliminated, when one takes to the Sanctuary of the Merciful Lord.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਵੱਸ ਪਏ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਖਿੜ ਪਿਆ ।
His Lotus Feet abide within my mind and body and I am enraptured, beholding the Blessed Vision of His Darshan.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
With the Lotus Feet of the Lord dwelling within the heart, all misfortune is taken away.
(ਪਰ ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨਾਹ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
One who meets the Perfect Guru, shall not have to suffer through birth and death.
ਮੇਰੀ ਹੁਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ,
I have fallen in love with His Lotus Feet.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
The Lord of the Universe dwells continually within my consciousness. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
One who enshrines love for the Lotus Feet of the Lord of the Universe
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
- by the Grace of the Saints, her mind becomes pure; night and day, she remains awake and aware, singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਨਾਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਲਾਲਚ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਸਹਮ ਦਬਾਉ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
Cold and heat do not touch me at all, when I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆਂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਚਿੱਤ ਤੇ (ਮਾਇਆ-) ਡੈਣ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ।੧।
My consciousness is not affected by the witch, Maya; I take to the Sanctuary of the Lord's Lotus Feet. ||1||
(ਹੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੇਟ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹੁਣ ਭੀ) ਪਰਾਇਆ ਧਨ, ਪਰਾਈ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ, ਪਰਾਈ ਨਿੰਦਾ—ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ।
Others' wealth, others' wives, and the slander of others - renounce your craving for these.
(ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਾਂ ।੩।
Serve the Lord's Lotus Feet within your heart, and hold to the Support of the Perfect Guru. ||3||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਸੰੁਦਰ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਚ,
The Lord's Lotus Feet are incomparably beautiful; so is the Mantra of the Saint.
ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
How rare is that holy person who is attached to them. ||3||
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
I long for the Lotus Feet of my Beloved Lord.
ਜਮ-ਦੂਤ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਾਹ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਭੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
The wretched Messenger of Death has run away from me. ||1||
ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨ
The Saints worship and adore the Lotus Feet of the Divine Guru;
ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਾਲ, ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਪੂਜਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
they love the Beloved Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਉਹ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਿਆ
The Lord's Lotus Feet are the Boat; attached to Them, you shall cross over the world-ocean.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਪੱਕਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ।੬।
Meeting with the Perfect True Guru, I embrace True Love for God. ||6||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪੋ੍ਰਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਚੀਜ਼ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੀ ।
My mind is pierced by the Lord's Lotus Feet; He alone is sweet to my mind, the Lord King.
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ
Joining the Society of the Saints, I meditate on the Lord in adoration; I behold the Lord King in each and every heart.
ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦਾ ਪੱਕਾ) ਰੰਗ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਮਜੀਠ (ਦਾ ਪੱਕਾ ਰੰਗ) ।
My Beloved shall not leave me to go anywhere - this is His natural way; my mind is imbued with the lasting color of the Lord's Love.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿੱਝ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਚੀਜ਼ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੀ ।੧।
The Lotus Feet of the Lord have pierced Nanak's mind, and now, nothing else seems sweet to him. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ,
O my mind, immerse yourself in the Lord's lotus feet.
ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਮੰਗਿਆ ਕਰ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਆਰਾਧਦੇ ਹਨ
Seek from Him, who is worshipped by all beings. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਸਦਾ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸੇਵਕ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੇਕ ਗਿਰਾਹੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The Lotus Feet of the Lord abide within his heart, and with every breath and morsel of food, he chants the Lord's Name.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੇਵਕ ਨੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੰੁਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਤੋਂ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੨।੪।੩੦।
Nanak has grasped the Support of the Lord of the Universe; again and again, he is a sacrifice to Him. ||2||4||30||
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ ਜਿਧਰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਉਧਰ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੰੁਦਾ ਹੈ
Wherever I look, there, I find Him with me.
ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਹਨ ।੧।
The Lotus Feet of the Lord are the Support of my very breath of life. ||1||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ
I have enshrined His Lotus Feet within my heart.
ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ।੩।
I am a sacrifice to the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan. ||3||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਪੂਰੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Those whose minds are attached to the lotus feet of the Lord - those humble beings are satisfied and fulfilled.
ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਗੁਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਵੱਸਦੇ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
But those, within whose hearts the priceless virtue does not abide - those men remain thirsty and unsatisfied. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ) ਕੋਈ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ।
No misfortune afflicts one who is protected by the True Guru.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਸਦਾ ਚੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
The Lotus Feet of God come to abide within his heart, and he savors the sublime essence of the Lord's Ambrosial Nectar. ||3||
:—(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ) ਆਸਰਾ (ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ) ।
I have the support of the Lotus Feet of the Lord.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਵਿਚ) ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ (ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ) ਜ਼ਹਿਰ-ਭਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੰੁਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
By the Grace of the Saints, I have found the boat of Truth; embarking on it, I sail across the ocean of poison. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਹੀ ਭਗਤਾਂ (ਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ) ਦਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ,
The lotus feet of the Lord are the support of His humble servants. They are his only capital and investment.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਲ ਹੈ, ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ।੪।੨।੨੦।
The True Lord is Nanak's strength, honor and support; He alone is his protection. ||4||2||20||
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਈ ਰੱਖ । ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੋਚ-ਮੰਡਲ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ
Worship His lotus feet, and contemplate the glorious virtues of the Lord of the Universe.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ (ਆਪਣੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਰ, ਇਹ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ) ਆਤਮਕ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੨।੧।੩੧।
O Nanak, the dust of the feet of the Holy shall bless you with pleasure and peace. ||2||1||31||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰਸਾਇਣ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ
My tongue is intoxicated with the Lord, the source of nectar.
ਅਤੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
I am in love, in love with the Lord's lotus feet, the treasure of riches. ||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਬਦ-ਕਿਸਮਤ ਸਮਝੋ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਸਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
One who forgets the Lord of life, the Great Giver - know that he is most unfortunate.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਦਾ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
One whose mind is in love with the Lord's lotus feet, obtains the pool of ambrosial nectar. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹਨ, ਕੋ੍ਰੜਾਂ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਹਨ ।
The Lord's lotus feet are the treasure of His humble servant; in them, he finds millions of pleasures and comforts.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮੈਂ (ਭੀ) ਉਸ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਦਮੋਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇ, ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੨।੧੭।੪੮।
He remembers the Lord God in meditation, day and night; Nanak is forever a sacrifice to him. ||2||17||48||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ (ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
One whose mind is imbued with the Lord's lotus feet
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ ।੨।
is not afflicted by the fire of sorrow. ||2||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ) ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ
I am in love with the Lord's lotus feet.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ (ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ) ਇਹੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹ
This alone is Nanak's prayer. ||2||4||58||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਬੇ-ਮਿਸਾਲ ਹਨ
Fruitful is the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, O Beloved God; Your lotus feet are incomparably beautiful!
ਮੈਂ (ਤੇਰੇ) ਇਹਨਾਂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਾਰੀ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਹੀ (ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ) ਭੇਟਾ ਧਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਇਹੀ ਧੂਪ ਅਰਪਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੧।
So many times, I bow in reverence to Him, offering my mind as incense to Him. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕੱਚਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ,
Forsaking the Lord of the world, he does other deeds, but these are temporary and transitory.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖ, (ਇਹ ਹਰਿ-ਚਰਨ ਹੀ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹਨ ।੨।੯।੧੩।
Grasp the Lord's lotus feet, and hold them in your heart, O Nanak; you shall obtain absolute peace and bliss. ||2||9||13||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਨਕ (ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ) ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ
Nanak has come to the Sanctuary of the Lord's lotus feet.
ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ (-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਡਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣਾ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ
God Himself has carried Him across the impassable, terrifying world-ocean.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਨ ਦੀ ਖਿੱਚ ਵਿਚ ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਭੌਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
One who loves the Lord's lotus feet searches for Him in the ten directions.
ਛਲ-ਰੂਪ ਮਾਇਆ (ਦਾ ਖਹਿੜਾ) ਛੱਡਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਭਾਲਦਿਆਂ ਭਾਲਦਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਆਨੰਦ-ਰੂਪ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਜਿਥੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਨ ਦਾ ਅਵਸਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੧।
He renounces the deceptive illusion of Maya, and joins the blissful form of the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਵਕੀਲ ਬਣਿਆ ਤੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਅਗਿਆਨ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ
Ignorance, doubt and suffering are dispelled, when the Guru becomes one's advocate.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਜੀਠ ਨਾਲ (ਕੱਪੜੇ ਤੇ ਪੱਕਾ) ਰੰਗ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਪੱਕੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਵਿੱਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
The Lord's lotus feet have pierced my mind, and I am dyed in the deep crimson color of His Love.
ਹਰਨ ਰਾਗ ਦੇ ਤੀਰ ਨਾਲ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਗੰਧੀ ਭੌਰੇ ਦੇ ਬੱਝਣ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।
The deer is enticed by the sound of the hunter's bell, and shot through with the arrow; the bumble bee is entangled in the fragrance of the flowers.
ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਾਉਂਦਾ ।੧।
The Saints are entranced by the Lord's lotus feet; O Nanak, they desire nothing else. ||1||
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਸੁਆਸ ਸੁਆਸ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਕਦੇ ਭੁਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ,
They contemplate the Lord's lotus feet; they worship and adore Him with each and every breath.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਸਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
They do not forget the Name of the imperishable Lord; O Nanak, the Transcendent Lord fulfills their hopes. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
Through the Protection and Support of the Lord's lotus feet, all beings are saved.
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ (ਬੰਦਗੀ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਨਿਡਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Hearing of the Glory of the Lord of the Universe, the mind becomes fearless.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ, ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ
He does not love the Lord's lotus feet, and he does not please the True Lord.
ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਤੂੰ ਦੌੜਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ (ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਕਦੇ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੇਲੀ ਦਾ ਬਲਦ (ਕੋਹਲੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਜੁੱਪ ਕੇ) ਤੁਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਕੋਹਲੂ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪੈਂਡਾ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਉਸੇ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਤੁਰਿਆ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੨।
He runs around chasing the fleeting objects of the world, in all directions, like the ox around the oil press. ||2||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ
Meditate on the lotus feet of the Lord within your mind.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਇਕ ਐਸੀ) ਦਵਾਈ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕੋ੍ਰਧ ਅਤੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ (ਆਦਿਕ ਰੋਗ) ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੱਢ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਦਵਾਈ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਗਰਮੀ ਤੇ ਵਾਈ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ) ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
The Name of the Lord is the medicine; it is like an axe, which destroys the diseases caused by anger and egotism. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੱਜਣ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹ
My mind is in love with the Lord's lotus feet; I have met the Beloved Guru, the noble, heroic being.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੧੦।੧੫।
Nanak celebrates in bliss; chanting and meditating on the Lord, all sickness has been cured. ||2||10||15||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ।
The True Guru was satisfied with me, and blessed me with the Support of the Lord's Lotus Feet. I am a sacrifice to the Lord.
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹਰੇਕ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਨਾਲ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ ।
The Lord's Ambrosial Nectar is an overflowing treasure; everything is in His Home. I am a sacrifice to the Lord.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲੋਂ) ਫਿਰ ਕਦੇ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ।
The Lord unites me with Himself; how could I feel any separation? I am a sacrifice to the Lord.
ਹੇ ਰਾਮ! ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ । ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।
One who has Your Support lives forever and ever. I am a sacrifice to the Lord.
ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਤੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੈ ।
I take my support from You alone, O True Creator Lord.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਪਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹਾਂ ।
I am wonder-struck, gazing upon the incomparable Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਹਾਂ ।
My Dear Lord and Master is so beautiful; I am the dust of His Lotus Feet.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਮੈਂ ਹਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਡੋਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ।
I searched and searched, and found the immovable, unchanging home of the Lord.
ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ (ਜਗਤ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ (ਪਦਾਰਥ) ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹਨ, ਤਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਆਪਣਾ) ਮਨ ਜੋੜ ਲਿਆ ।
I have seen that everything is transitory and perishable, and so I have linked my consciousness to the Lotus Feet of the Lord.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
I am in love with the Lotus Feet of the Lord.
ਹੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ! ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਕਰ । ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Go, O my very fortunate companion: dwell in the Company of the Saints, and merge with the Lord.
ਉਥੇ ਟਿਕਿਆਂ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ, ਕੋਈ ਰੋਗ ਆਦਿਕ—ਇਹ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ । (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ।
There, neither pain nor hunger nor disease will afflict you; enshrine love for the Lord's Lotus Feet.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਦੁੱਖ ਸੁਖ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਦੇ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਦੇ ਜੀਊ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Experiencing pain and pleasure, one is born, only to die again.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ।੩।
The Lotus Feet of the Guru bring peace and shelter. ||3||
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਕਉਲ ਫੁੱਲ (ਵਰਗੇ ਕੋਮਲ) ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ।
All desires are fulfilled, O my friend,
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਮਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਈਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ।੧।
lovingly centering your consciousness on the Lord's Lotus Feet. ||1||
(ਉਹ ਕੇਹੜੀ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ?
I meditate continually on the Lotus Feet of God.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਕੇਹੜੀ ਸੁਚੱਜੀ ਮਤਿ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਾਂ?।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
What wisdom will lead me to attain my Beloved? ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਅਚਰਜ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।
I have enshrined love for the Lotus Feet of the Wondrous Divine Guru.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ।੩।
One who is blessed by Your Mercy, God, is committed to Your service. ||3||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ਕੇ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ,
Meditating on the Lotus Feet of the Guru, and chanting the Name of the Lord, I live.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ, (ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ) ਮੈਂ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, (ਤਿਉਂ ਤਿਉਂ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Worshipping the Supreme Lord God in adoration, my mouth drinks in the Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||Pause||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਇਕ ਐਸਾ ਅਸਥਾਨ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ) ਭੰਡਾਰੇ ਭਰੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਉਥੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ) ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਤੋਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ।
There is never any deficiency at all; the Lord's treasures are over-flowing.
(ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਣ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।੨।
His Lotus Feet are enshrined within my mind and body; God is inaccessible and infinite. ||2||
ਹੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ (ਹੀ) ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈਂ । ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਤੇਰੇ) ਹੀ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ।
I take the Support of Your Lotus Feet, O God, Primal Lord, treasure of virtue.
(ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਜਦ ਤਕ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਹ (ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ), ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I shall meditate in remembrance on the Praises of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, as long as there is breath in my body. ||1||Pause||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ) ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ।
Meditating, meditating, meditating in remembrance, I have found peace; I have enshrined His Lotus Feet within my mind.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ।੨।੧੨।੯੮।
Slave Nanak has entered His Sanctuary; there is none above Him. ||2||12||98||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord is the True Guru; all beings are in His power.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਮੰਤਰ ਜਪਿਆਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੧੯।੧੦੫।
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of His Lotus Feet, chanting the Lord's Name, the immaculate Mantra. ||2||19||105||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ (ਤਾਂ) ਸਦਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ
God's Lotus Feet are Infinite.
ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।
I am forever a sacrifice to Them.
ਹੇ ਦੇਵ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਨੱਚਦਾ, ਉਹ ਅਡੋਲ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
When Your Lotus Feet dwell within one's heart, why should that person waver, O Divine Lord?
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਨੌ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
I know that all comforts, and the nine treasures, come to one who intuitively, naturally, chants the Praise of the Divine Lord. ||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਆਪਣੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ ।
Bow in humility to the lotus feet of the Guru.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ) ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਕੋ੍ਰਧ (ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾ ।
Eliminate sexual desire and anger from this body.
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਪਿਆਰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
I have enshrined love for the Lord's lotus feet.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ ਹੀ) ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਹੈ
The lifestyle of the Perfect Guru is immaculate and pure.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਇਸ ਜਗਤ-ਰਚਨਾ ਦਾ ਬਣਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ ।
You are the Doer, the Cause of causes.
(ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ) ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।
Your lotus feet, Lord, are my Sanctuary.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਆ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ,
When the Lord's lotus feet are enshrined in the mind,
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ (ਭੀ) ਸਾਰੇ ਨੱਸ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
all terrible evils are taken away from the body. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ (ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਕਰ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ) ।
Let yourself be a sacrifice to the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਧਰ ਕੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ)
Focus your heart's meditation on the Lord's lotus feet.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
He is forever the helper and support of the humble Saints.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।੪।੩੯।੫੦।
Nanak has found the Sanctuary of His lotus feet. ||4||39||50||
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ ।
Seek the Sanctuary of the Lord's lotus feet, O my mind.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰ, ਇਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਸਲ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੈ । ਪਰ ਇਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਲੱਭ ਸਕੇਂਗਾ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Chant the Name of the Lord, which will be your help and support. As Gurmukh, you shall obtain the true wealth. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਆ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ,
His lotus feet dwell within my mind,
(ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਦੇ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰੰਮ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਸੰਵਾਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
and so all the affairs of my body are arranged and resolved. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਿਆਂ (ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, one is enlightened,
ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
and comes to dwell in His lotus feet. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ, ਭਰਾ, ਮਿੱਤਰ (ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਠੱਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ—ਪਰ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਰੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਛਾਂ (ਵਾਂਗ) ਹੈ
Entangled with children, spouse, siblings and friends, you are enticed and fooled; these pass like the shadow of a tree.
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਹੀ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੨।੬੦।
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of His lotus feet; He has found peace in the faith of the Saints. ||2||2||60||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ) ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।੪।
The Lord is all-powerful, the Cause of causes. Nanak seeks His Sanctuary. ||4||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋੜ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਪੱਕੇ ਟਿਕਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।੫।
Shattering the bonds, the Guru implants the Lord's lotus feet within, and lovingly attunes us to the One Word of the Shabad. ||5||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਮਾਇਆ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਦੇ ਅੰਨੇ੍ਹ ਖੂਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੬।
He has lifted me up, and pulled me out of the deep, dark pit of sin; I am attuned to the True Shabad. ||6||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਹੀ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹਨ ਆਸਰਾ ਹਨ ।
His lotus feet are the support and anchor of His humble servants.
ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਹੀ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੈ ਭੁਇਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਲਕੀ ਹੈ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ ।
He takes the Naam, the Name of the Infinite Lord, as his wealth, property and treasure.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਕੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ) ਆਨੰਦ ਸੁਖ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
In the Sanctuary of His lotus feet, I sing His Glorious Praises in ecstasy and bliss.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਹਰੇਕ) ਬਿਪਤਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
O Nanak, worship God in adoration, the Eradicator of misfortune. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਕਟ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਸੁਖੀ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, the mind and body find peace; the thought of duality is dispelled.
ਜਿਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਆ ਵੱਸੇ, ਉਥੇ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The eternal, unchanging Lord has come into my home as my Husband, O my companions; dwelling upon His lotus feet, I blossom forth in bliss.
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ! ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ, ਸੋਹਣਾ ਹੈ, ਸੁਜਾਨ ਹੈ, (ਸਭ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ) ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ । ਉਸ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਕਿਸੇ ਮੁੱਲ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦੇ ।
The Lord of the Universe is beautiful, proficient, wise and all-knowing;
(ਪਰ) ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ) ਕਉਲ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ (ਵਰਗੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ) ਚਰਨ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
One who enshrines the Lord's lotus feet in his heart and consciousness
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਅਮਰ ਤੇ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਨਾਹ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ।
lives long, always remembering the Lord.
ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਤਾਰ ਲੱਗ ਗਈ ਹੈ ।
I am in love with Your Lotus Feet.
ਹੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹਰੀ! ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਉੱਚੀ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਹ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
O Lord, ocean of peace, please bless me with the supreme status. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸੁਜਾਨ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਗੁਣ ਦੱਸ ਕੇ ਗਿਣਾਂ? ਹੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!
What Glorious Virtues of Yours should I chant? O God, You are the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.
(ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ) ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੭।੮।
I seek the Sanctuary of Your Lotus Feet, O Lord, ocean of peace; Nanak is forever a sacrifice to You. ||2||7||8||
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਜੋੜ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
and whose mind is sewn into the Lord's Lotus Feet.
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ (ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।
Granting His Grace, the Lord blesses him with His Praise. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ (ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ) ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਏ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
I have enshrined the lotus feet of God within my consciousness.
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, continually, continuously.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣ ਲਈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ਕੇ (ਨਾਮ-) ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਵਿਚ ਚੜ੍ਹਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
Meditating on Your lotus feet, I have come aboard Your boat.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-) ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Joining the Society of the Saints, I cross over the world-ocean.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰੇ ਤਾਂ) ਮੈਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਣ ਸਦਾ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਾਂ,
I enshrine the Lord's lotus feet continually within my heart.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਖਿਨ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ,
Each and every moment, I humbly bow to the Perfect Guru.
ਆਪਣਾ ਤਨ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਅੱਗੇ ਭੇਟਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿਆਂ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ) ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
I dedicate my body, mind and everything, and place it in offering before the Lord. His Name is the most beautiful in this world. ||1||
ਹੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ! ਹੇ ਦਇਆਲ! ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! ਹੇ ਦਮੋਦਰ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ (ਬਖ਼ਸ਼) ।
O Lord of the World, Merciful Lord of the Universe, Your sermon and spiritual wisdom are immaculate and pure.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ (ਪਿਆਰ-) ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗ ਦੇਹ । (ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ) ਸੁਰਤਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹੇ ।੨।੧।੩।
Please attune Nanak to Your Love, O Lord, and focus his meditation on Your Lotus Feet. ||2||1||3||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਕਾਰਨਾਮਾ ਵੇਖ!) ਹਰਨ (ਘੰਡੇਹੇੜੇ ਦੀ) ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਨਾਲ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਇਤਨਾ ਮਸਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਦੇ) ਤ੍ਰਿੱਖੇ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਿੱਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The deer is fascinated by the sound of the bell, and so it is shot with the sharp arrow.
(ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਪੱਕੀ) ਗੰਢ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੧।੯।
God's Lotus Feet are the Source of Nectar; O Nanak, I am tied to them by a knot. ||2||1||9||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Meditating on His Lotus Feet deep within, one realizes the Lord and Master in each and every heart.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਚਾਨਣ-ਰੂਪ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਮਦੂਤ ਮੁੜ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਝਗੜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ ।੨।੭।੧੫।
In the Sanctuary of the Divine, Infinite Lord, Nanak shall never again be tortured by the Messenger of Death. ||2||7||15||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੋ ਜੀਊਣ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜੀਊਣ ਨਰਕ (ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ) ਸਹਾਰਨ (ਦੇ ਤੁੱਲ) ਹੈ । ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿੱਛ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Those who are without the Lord suffer in hell; my mind is pierced through with the Lord's Feet.
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸੀਆ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਨਿਰਾਦਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ।
The Lord is both sensual and unattached; lovingly attune yourself to the Naam, the Name of the Lord. No one can ever deny Him.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
I have fallen in love with the Lord's Lotus Feet.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ (ਖੋਟਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ-ਰੂਪ) ਵੱਡਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
In an instant, the terrible demons are destroyed.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਈ ਰੱਖ ।
Grab hold of the Support of God, O my mind.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ, (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਉੱਦਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ) ਵੈਰੀ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ, ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
As Gurmukh, worship and adore His Lotus Feet; enemies and pains shall not even approach you. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ) ਪੱਲੇ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖ ।
Please grant Your Grace, O Lord, and attach me to the hem of Your robe.
(ਮੈਂ) ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ।੪।੪੨।੫੫।
Nanak meditates continually on the Lord's Lotus Feet. ||4||42||55||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੁਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹੇ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ (ਕਿਸੇ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਵੇਲੇ) ਡੋਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ,
My mind was not shaken; why should my body be afraid?
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ (ਕਸ਼ਟ ਦੇ ਦੇ ਕੇ) ਡਰਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
My consciousness remained immersed in the Lotus Feet of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਬਸੰਤ (ਰੱੁਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਖਿੜਾਉ) ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ।
By Guru's Grace, this spring of the soul has come.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲਏ ਹਨ । ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I enshrine the Lord's Lotus Feet within my heart; I listen to the Lord's Praise, forever and ever. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ,
I focus my meditation on the Lord's Lotus Feet.
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਗਈ ।
Granting His Grace, God has blessed me with this Gift.
ਹੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਚੰਬੜਿਆ ਰਹੁ,
Grasp hold of His Lotus Feet.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹੁ ।
Meet with God, O blessed one.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਕੰਵਲ ਫੱੁਲਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ,
I shall not abandon devotional worship of You, O Lord, even if the people laugh at me.
(ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬੜੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੁਣ) ਜਗਤ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਪਿਆ ਠੱਠਾ ਕਰੇ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਾਂਗਾ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
The Lord's Lotus Feet abide within my heart. ||1||Pause||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।
I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice to His Lotus Feet. I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੀ ।੨।੧੮।੪੧।
Says Nanak, I do not care about anything else; I have found the Lord, the Ocean of peace. ||2||18||41||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹਰੇਕ ਡਰ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
The mortal becomes fearless, and all his fears are taken away, when he leans on the Support of the Lord's Lotus Feet.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ, ਉਹ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮਣੇ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ।੨।੪੫।੬੮।
Chanting the Name, through the Guru's Word, Nanak has become famous throughout the world. ||2||45||68||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ) ਦਲੇਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
He makes His servants and slaves fearless, and takes away all their pain.
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਸੇਵਕ (ਭੀ) ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀਲੇ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
So renounce all other efforts, and enshrine the Lord's Lotus Feet within your mind. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖ, ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖ ।
Enshrine the Lord's Lotus Feet within your heart; let yourself be lovingly attuned to the One Lord.
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਸੁੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਹਿਂਗਾ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਵੇਂਗਾ ।੧।
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall become immaculate and pure; you shall not come to be reincarnated again. ||1||
ਹੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!
The True Guru is the True Giver.
ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, all my pains are dispelled. I am a sacrifice to His Lotus Feet. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਨੀ, (ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰਨਾ—ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਨਿੱਤ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ।
This is the way of life of the Holy Saint: he listens to the Kirtan, the Praises of his Lord and Master, and meditates in remembrance on Him.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਉ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
He implants the Lord's Lotus Feet deep within his heart; worship of the Lord is the support of his breath of life. ||1||
ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਆਦਿਕ ਹਠ-ਕਰਮ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੀ ਭਾਲ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਧਨ—ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦੇ (ਤੁੱਛ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਨ) ।
Chanting, deep meditation, austere self-discipline, good deeds and other techniques to being peace - they are not equal to even a tiny bit of the Lord's Name.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿੱਝਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।੨।੭੨।੯੫।
Nanak's mind is pierced through by the Lotus Feet of the Lord; it is absorbed in His Lotus Feet. ||2||72||95||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਜੀਵ ਉਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਜੀਵ) ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ । (ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ।
The world is enveloped by an ocean of pain; O Lord, please save Your slave!
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਮੈਂ (ਭੀ) ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੨।੮੪।੧੦੭।
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of Your Lotus Feet; Nanak is forever and ever a sacrifice. ||2||84||107||
ਹੇ ਮਾਂ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਜਸ ਗਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਉੱਜਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੁੜ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਕਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ।
I have become spotless and pure, singing the Sacred Praises of the Lord; I shall never again be dirtied.
(ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਡੋਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
My awareness is focused on the Lotus Feet of God; I have met the Infinite, Supreme Being. ||1||
ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ! ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਤੂੰ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ—ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ।
You are Endless, O God, my Supreme Lord and Master; Your state cannot be known.
(ਪਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ । ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਉਹ (ਜਗਤ ਦਾ) ਸਾਰਾ ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
My mind is pierced through by the Love of Your Lotus Feet; this is everything to me - I enshrine it deep within my being. ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ—ਇਹ ਇਕ ਸੋਹਣੀ (ਕਾਰ) ਹੈ ।
The Lord's melody is noble and sublime.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਬਣਾ) ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੋਹਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭਲਾ ਨੇਕ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
The Lotus Feet of my Lord and Master are incomparably beautiful. Meditating on them, one becomes Holy. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ (ਇਸ ‘ਬਿਖੁ ਠਗਉਰੀ’ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ ।
In His Mercy, God saves His Saints; they have the Support of His Lotus Feet.
ਹੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ! ਹੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ! ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ! ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਨਾਨਕ (ਤੇਰੀ) ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ) ।੪।੧।੧੨੯।
With his palms pressed together, Nanak has come to the Sanctuary of the Primal Being, the Infinite Lord God. ||4||1||129||
ਕਈ ਸੁੱਚਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ) ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ
and purify your mind in various ways,
(ਇਹ ਉੱਦਮ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ । ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹੁ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
but none of this is equal to the Lord's Name. Remain attached to the Lord's Lotus Feet. ||1||Pause||
(ਇਹ ਕੰਮ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ ।
but these are not equal to the celestial melody of the Naam, the Name of the Lord of the Universe.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖ ।੧।
Remain attached to the Lord's Lotus Feet. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸ਼ਿਵ, ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ, ਦੈਂਤ, ਦੇਵਤੇ—ਇਹ ਜਿਤਨੇ ਭੀ ਹਨ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਸਭ) ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਦੇ ਹਨ (ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਲਿਹਾਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ) ।
Shiva, Brahma, angels and demons, all burn in the fire of death.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ—ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆਪਣੇ ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਵਰਗੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ (ਸਾਨੂੰ) ਪਰੇ ਨਾਹ ਹਟਾਵੋ ।੩।੪।
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Lord's Lotus Feet; O God, Creator, please do not send me into exile. ||3||4||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਿਆ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਨ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ (-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ) ਰੰਗਿਆ ਗਿਆ,
My mind and body are imbued with the Immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord; I am lovingly attuned to His Lotus Feet.
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜ ਲਈ ।੨।੭।੧੧।
God has made Nanak His Own; slave Nanak seeks His Sanctuary. ||2||7||11||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੀਊ ਸਕਦੇ
Separated from the Lord, how can any living being live?
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ) ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ-ਕਮਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਪੀਣ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਤਾਂਘ ਹੈ,
My consciousness is filled with yearning and hope to meet my Lord, and drink in the sublime essence of His Lotus Feet. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲਏ ਹਨ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
With love for the Guru, I enshrine the Lotus Feet of my Lord deep within my heart. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ (ਸਦਾ) ਫਲਦਾਈ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ । (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭੀ) ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
I gaze on the Blessed Vision of His Fruitful Darshan; my sins are erased and taken away.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! (ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੇਰਾ) ਮਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹੇ ।
My mind is absorbed in the Lotus Feet of the Lord.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਪਾਣੀ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ (ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀਆਂ) ਮੱਛੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਤੈਥੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜ ਕੇ ਜੀਉ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ) ।
O God, You are the water; Your humble servants are fish.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ
Enshrining His Lotus Feet within my heart,
(ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਭੈੜਾ (ਸਾਰਾ) ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ।੧।
pain and wickedness have been dispelled. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਸਦਾ) ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ, ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮੋਹਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖ ।
Within your heart, sing the Praises of the Lord of the Universe, and be lovingly attuned to His Lotus Feet. He is the Fascinating Lord, Merciful to the meek and the humble.
ਹੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਮੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਸਦਾ) ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ
O Merciful Lord, please bless me with Your Kindness and Compassion.
(ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ) (ਤੇਰੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਲਪਟਿਆ ਰਹੇ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
May the bumble-bee of my mind be immersed again and again in the Honey of Your Lotus Feet. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
I am in love with the Lotus Feet of the Lord;
ਕਾਮ ਕੋ੍ਰਧ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ (ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
I am no longer consumed by sexual desire, anger and egotism.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਆ ਵੱਸੇ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ,
The Lotus Feet of the Guru abide within my mind.
ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਭਟਕਣਾਂ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮੁੱਕ ਗਈਆਂ ।੧।
I am rid of pain, suffering, doubt and fraud. ||1||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦਾ) ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I have been enlightened.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
The Lord's Lotus Feet abide within my mind. ||1||
(ਤੇਰੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I have taken the Shelter and Support of the Lord's Lotus Feet.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਇਕ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ (ਰਾਖਾ) ਹੈਂ । ਤੂੰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਉੱਚਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ ।
You are Lofty and Exalted, Grand and Infinite, O my Lord and Master; You alone are above all. ||1||Pause||
(ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਨਿਮਖ ਨਿਮਖ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
- the merits of all these are obtained by enshrining the Lord's Lotus Feet within the heart, even for an instant.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੋੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ (ਅਪਣੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਸੰਵਾਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੬।
Meditating on the Lord of the Universe, all one's affairs are resolved. ||6||
ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ (ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ) ਧੱਕਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
and asserting their power over others,
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਧਰਦਾ, (ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ) ਤੀਲੇ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ ।
never contemplate the Lord's Lotus Feet. Their lives are cursed, and as worthless as straw.
(ਹੇ ਦਾਨੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ! ਵੇਖ, ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਹਿਰਦਾ (ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੇ) ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਨਾਲੋਂ) ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਵਿੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ,
My body is drenched in love and affection for the Lord; there is no distance at all between us.
(ਜਿਵੇਂ ਭੌਰਾ ਕੌਲ-ਫੁੱਲ ਵਿਚ ਵਿੱਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮਨ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿੱਝਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਮਝਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਨਸਕ ਤਾਕਤ ਲਗਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।੨।
My mind is pierced through by the Lotus Feet of the Lord. He is realized when one's intuitive consciousness is attuned to Him. ||2||
ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਭੁਲਾਈਏ, ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇ ਧਨ ਨਾਸ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਬੇਸ਼ੱਕ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ।
Kabeer, do not abandon the Lord; your body and wealth shall go, so let them go.
ਪਰ ਅਸਾਡਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਵਿੱਝਿਆ ਰਹੇ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਰਹੇ ।੧੦੨।
My consciousness is pierced by the Lord's Lotus Feet; I am absorbed in the Name of the Lord. ||102||
ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਹਰ ਪਾਸੇ) ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ,
Kabeer: with my eyes, I see You, Lord; with my ears, I hear Your Name.
ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਥਾਂ ਦੇਈ ਰੱਖਾਂ ।੧੧੯।
With my tongue I chant Your Name; I enshrine Your Lotus Feet within my heart. ||119||
ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਰਗ (ਦੀ ਲਾਲਸਾ) ਅਤੇ ਨਰਕ (ਦੇ ਡਰ) ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ।
Kabeer, I have been spared from heaven and hell, by the Grace of the True Guru.
ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ (ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਦੇ ਹੁਲਾਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ; । ੧੨੦।
From beginning to end, I abide in the joy of the Lord's Lotus Feet. ||120||
ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੇ ਹੁਲਾਰੇ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਾ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?
Kabeer, how can I even describe the extent of the joy of the Lord's Lotus Feet?
ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ (ਚੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ) ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਢਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ।
Weapons cannot cut that person who delights in the love of the Lord's Lotus Feet.
(ਜਿਸ ਦਾ) ਮਨ (ਹਰੀ ਦੇ) ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿੱਝ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਰੱਸੀ ਨਾਲ (ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ) ਬੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ।
Ropes cannot bind that person whose mind is pierced through by the Vision of the Lord's Way.
ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ, ਘਰ, ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ, ਇਹ (ਸਾਰਾ) ਸੰਸਾਰ ਮਨ ਦੀ (ਹੀ) ਖੇਡ ਹੈ । (ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ, (ਆਪਣੀ) ਮਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਇਹੀ ਭਾਵ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਕਰ ।
Free your consciousness of attachment to your body, your home, your spouse, and the pleasures of this world. Serve forever at His Lotus Feet, and firmly implant these teachings within.
ਹੇ ਗਯੰਦ ਦੇ ਮਨ! (ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ) ਸੇ੍ਰਸ਼ਟ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਧਾਰ ਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ; ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਹੀ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹੈ ।੫।
Enshrine this most excellent Name within your heart, and renounce the wickedness of the mind, O Gayand. the Supreme Guru, the Supreme Guru, the Supreme Guru, the True, Dear Lord. ||5||10||
