ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮਨੋ-ਕਾਮਨਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ ।
Twenty-four hours a day, I meditate on the Supreme Lord God; I sing His Glorious Praises forever and ever.
ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੪।੪।
Says Nanak, my desires have been fulfilled; I have found my Guru, the Supreme Lord God. ||4||4||
Prabhaatee, Fifth Mehl:
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Meditating in rememberance on the Naam, all my sins have been erased.
(ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ,
The Guru has blessed me with the Capital of the True Name.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣੇ ।
God's servants are embellished and exalted in His Court;
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ) ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
serving Him, they look beauteous forever. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰੋ ।
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my Siblings of Destiny.
(ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
All sickness and sin shall be erased; your mind shall be rid of the darkness of ignorance. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ (ਦੇ ਗੇੜ) ਮੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ
The Guru has saved me from death and rebirth, O friend;
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ) ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਿਆ ।
I am in love with the Name of the Lord.
(ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਕੋ੍ਰੜਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ।
The suffering of millions of incarnations is gone;
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਉਹ ਕੁਝ ਭਲਾ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
whatever pleases Him is good. ||2||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
I am forever a sacrifice to the Guru;
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।
by His Grace, I meditate on the Lord's Name.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ,
By great good fortune, such a Guru is found;
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
meeting Him, one is lovingly attuned to the Lord. ||3||
ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ! ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ!
Please be merciful, O Supreme Lord God, O Lord and Master,
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ।
Inner-knower, Searcher of Hearts.
(ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਲਗਨ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖ,
Twenty-four hours a day, I am lovingly attuned to You.
(ਤੇਰਾ) ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੇ ।੪।੫।
Servant Nanak has come to the Sanctuary of God. ||4||5||
Prabhaatee, Fifth Mehl:
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ
In His Mercy, God has made me His Own.
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ।
He has blessed me with the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
Twenty-four hours a day, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe.
ਸਾਰੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੂਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।
Fear is dispelled, and all anxiety has been alleviated. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਣੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
I have been saved, touching the Feet of the True Guru.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ) ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਚੰਗਾ ਤੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Whatever the Guru says is good and sweet to me. I have renounced the intellectual wisdom of my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
That Lord God abides within my mind and body.
ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ (ਆਦਿਕ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ) ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ ।
There are no conflicts, pains or obstacles.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਹੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ (ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ),
Forever and ever, God is with my soul.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਿਹਾਂ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਮੈਲ (ਮਨ ਤੋਂ) ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੨
Filth and pollution are washed away by the Love of the Name. ||2||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
I am in love with the Lotus Feet of the Lord;
ਕਾਮ ਕੋ੍ਰਧ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ (ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
I am no longer consumed by sexual desire, anger and egotism.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਸਮਝ ਲਿਆ,
Now, I know the way to meet God.
ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਗਿੱਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
Through loving devotional worship, my mind is pleased and appeased with the Lord. ||3||
ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣ! ਹੇ ਸੰਤ! ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਸੁਣ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ) ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਅਤੇ ਅਤੋਲ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਨਾਮ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ।
Listen, O friends, Saints, my exalted companions.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ,
The Jewel of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is unfathomable and immeasurable.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ।੪।੬।
Forever and ever, sing the Glories of God, the Treasure of Virtue.
Says Nanak, by great good fortune, He is found. ||4||6||
Prabhaatee, Fifth Mehl:
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਥੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਸੌਦਾ ਖ਼ਰੀਦਿਆ,
They are wealthy, and they are the true merchants,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਧਨਾਢ (ਗਿਣੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਹੂਕਾਰ (ਸਮਝੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ।੧।
who have the credit of the Naam in the Court of the Lord. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਹੇ ਮਨ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ ।
So chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, in your mind, my friends.
(ਪਰ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਵਾਲੀ) ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਤੇ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ (ਚਲਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ (ਹੀ) ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
The Perfect Guru is found by great good fortune, and then one's lifestyle becomes perfect and immaculate. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਇਥੇ ਅਸਲ) ਨਫ਼ਾ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ,
They earn the profit, and the congratulations pour in;
(ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।੨।
by the Grace of the Saints, they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||
(ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਾ) ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੈ, ਜੀਵਨ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਕਬੂਲ ਹੈ
Their lives are fruitful and prosperous, and their birth is approved;
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਰਹੁ ।੩।
by Guru's Grace, they enjoy the Love of the Lord. ||3||
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕਾਮ ਕੋ੍ਰਧ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ (ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰ) ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
Sexuality, anger and egotism are wiped away;
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੪।੭।
O Nanak, as Gurmukh, they are carried across to the other shore. ||4||7||

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ (ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ,
