ਪੂਰਨ ਖਿੜਾਉ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਹੋਵੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤ ਵੇਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ), ਨਾਮ (ਸਿਮਰੀਏ) ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਡਿਆਈਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰੀਏ ।
In the Amrit Vaylaa, the ambrosial hours before dawn, chant the True Name, and contemplate His Glorious Greatness.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ‘ਸਿਫਤਿ’-ਰੂਪ ਪਟੋਲਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ-ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨਾਲ ‘ਕੂੜ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਿ’ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
By the karma of past actions, the robe of this physical body is obtained. By His Grace, the Gate of Liberation is found.
ਤੂੰ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੈਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ।
You, Lord, are the Merciful Treasure of Virtue. When it pleases You, Lord, You forgive me.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਸਾਡੇ ਵਰਗੇ ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਕਰਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
I am a sinner, saved only by the Company of the Guru. He has bestowed the Teachings of the Lord's Name, which saves me. ||2||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਕੀਹ ਕੀਹ ਦੱਸਾਂ ? ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ‘ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੂ’ ਜਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਆਤਮਕ ਹਾਲਤ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।
What Glorious Virtues of Yours can I describe, O my True Guru? When the Guru speaks, I am transfixed with wonder.
ਸਾਡੇ ਵਰਗੇ ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਰੱਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੰਜੇ ਤੋਂ) ਛੁਡਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਹੋਰ ਕੌਣ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਰੱਖ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ?
Can anyone else save a sinner like me? The True Guru has protected and saved me.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਾਪੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਫਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
Becoming Gurmukh, the sinful mortals are purified.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ ਰੀਝ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they find intuitive peace and poise deep within.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ
That man who has not practiced devotional worship of the Lord
ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਪਾਪੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਾ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ? ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
- why didn't such a sinful man die at birth? ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਗੁਨਾਹਗਾਰ ਹਾਂ, ਅਕਲੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਾ ਹਾਂ, ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਣ ਹਾਂ, ਨਿਆਸਰਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੰਦੇ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਾਂ ।
I am a sinner, devoid of wisdom, worthless, destitute and vile.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਹਾਂ, ਬੇ-ਤਰਸ ਹਾਂ, ਨੀਵੀਂ ਕੁਲ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੋਹ ਦਾ ਚਿੱਕੜ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਬਾਉ ਪਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।
I am deceitful, hard-hearted, lowly and entangled in the mud of emotional attachment.
(ਪਰ ਨਿਊਣ ਦਾ ਭਾਵ, ਮਨੋਂ ਨਿਊਣਾ ਹੈ, ਨਿਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਨਿਵਾਉਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ; ਜੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਨਿਵਾਉਣ ਨੂੰ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਆਖੀਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ) ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਜੋ ਮਿਰਗ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਲਿਫ ਕੇ ਦੋਹਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
The sinner, like the deer hunter, bows down twice as much.
ਪਰ ਜੇ ਨਿਰਾ ਸਿਰ ਹੀ ਨਿਵਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਏ, ਤੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਜੀਵ ਖੋਟੇ ਹੀ ਰਹਿਣ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਨਿਊਣ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
But what can be achieved by bowing the head, when the heart is impure? ||1||
ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਮੰਦ-ਕਰਮੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਖਚਿਤ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਂਞ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਅਖਵਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਅਸੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੋਂਹਦੇ ।
Those sinners continually wander in evil deeds, while they call themselves touch-nothing saints.
ਸਦਾ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਮੱਤੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਇਹ ਆਪ ਤਾਂ ਡੁੱਬੇ ਹੀ ਸਨ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਮੰਦ-ਕਰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਡੋਬਦੇ ਹਨ ।੩।
They wander around forever and ever in their self-conceit, and all their families are drowned. ||3||
ਪੁੱਤਰ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿਤਨੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਗ਼ਲਤੀਆਂ ਕਰੇ,
As many mistakes as the son commits,
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਭੁਲਾ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।
his mother does not hold them against him in her mind. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਲ ਵਿਚ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਮੈਲ ਲਹਿ ਗਈ ।
The filth of egotism is totally wiped away, O my soul, by bathing in the Ambrosial Pool of the Lord's Name.
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਤੇ ਪਾਪੀ ਭੀ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਗਏ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਣੋਂ ਬਚ ਗਏ ।੪।੩।
Even sinners are carried across, O my soul, if they are imbued with the Lord's Name, even for an instant, O servant Nanak. ||4||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਆਖ—) ਮੈਂ ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਨ ਹਾਂ, ਨੀਚ ਹਾਂ, ਨਿਆਸਰਾ ਹਾਂ, ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਹਾਂ,
I am worthless, lowly, without friends or support, and full of sins; I long for the Shelter of the Saints.
ਮੈਂ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜਿਆ ਹੈ (ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ!) ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਖੂਹ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬ ਰਹੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਤੋੜ ਤਕ ਨਿਬਾਹੋ ।੪।੭।
I am drowning in the deep, dark pit of household attachments - please save me, Lord! ||4||7||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ) ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈਂ । (ਪਰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਸਾਡਾ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ
You are the Giver of virtue, O Immaculate Lord, but my mind is not immaculate, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਅਸੀ ਪਾਪੀ ਹਾਂ, ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਣ ਹਾਂ । ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਤਾ ਦਾ) ਉਹ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧
I am a worthless sinner, O Siblings of Destiny; virtue is obtained from You alone, Lord. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਸੀ ਜੀਵ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਹਾਂ, ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਹਾਂ । ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਰਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
I am a sinner, totally without virtue, O Siblings of Destiny; the Perfect True Guru has blended me. ||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਅਪਰਾਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵਿਚ (ਜੋੜ ਕੇ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ ।
So many, so many sinners have been forgiven, O beloved one, by contemplating the True Word of the Shabad.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀ ਭੁੱਲਣਹਾਰ ਜੀਵ ਲੋਭ ਵਿਚ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ
The sinner is absorbed in greed and emotional attachment.
ਤੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਅਸੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ ।੧
He has not performed any service to the Creator Lord. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ!
I take pride in You, O my Darling Beloved.
ਅਸੀ ਜੀਵ ਸਦਾ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ (ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਹੀ (ਤੇਰੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਉਤੇ ਹੀ) ਭਰੋਸਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I am a sinner, continuously making mistakes; You are the Forgiving Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ (ਮਾਲਕ)! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਹੈਂ,
You are the all-powerful Cause of causes.
ਮੇਰਾ ਪਰਦਾ ਢੱਕ ਲੈ, ਮੈਂ ਪਾਪੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Please cover my faults, Lord of the Universe, O my Guru; I am a sinner - I seek the Sanctuary of Your Feet. ||1||Pause||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ) ਅਸੀ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਜੀਵ ਪਾਪੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਗੁਣ-ਹੀਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ,
I am a sinner, without any virtue at all.
ਅਸੀ ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੰਮ ਚੰਗੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
I do not serve You, or do any good deeds.
ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! ਅਸੀ ਜੀਵ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਹਾਂ
O Lord of the Universe, I am such a sinner!
ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਤੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
God gave me body and soul, but I have not practiced loving devotional worship to Him. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਬੰਦਾ (ਭੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Whoever chants the Naam, all his sins and mistakes are taken away.
(ਵੇਖ) ਵੇਸੁਆ ਦਾ ਸੰਗ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਜਾਮਲ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ‘ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਨਰਹਰੀ’ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਗਿਆ ।
Ajaamal, who had sex with prostitites, was saved, by chanting the Name of the Lord.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਨਹਗਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਹ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਭੁੱਲ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਝੱਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਪਿਆ ਹਾਂ (ਤੇਰਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ) ਬੇ-ਵੱਸ ਹਾਂ ।
I have forgotten Your Virtues, Lord; I am insane - what can I do now?
ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਹੈਂ, ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ (ਰਾਖਾ) ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ । (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
You are the Merciful Giver, above the heads of all. Day and night, You give gifts, and take care of all. ||2||
(ਕੂੜ ਕੱਲਰ ਦੇ ਵਪਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ) ਜਮ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਬੱਝੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਮਿਲਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ,
At Death's door, he is tied up and punished;
ਉਸ (ਵਿਚਾਰੇ) ਮੰਦ-ਕਰਮੀ ਦਾ ਭੈੜਾ ਹਾਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
such a sinner does not obtain salvation.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀ ਭੁੱਲਣਹਾਰ ਜੀਵ ਕਾਮ ਕੋ੍ਰਧ (ਦੇ ਚਿੱਕੜ) ਨਾਲ ਲਿੱਬੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ।
I am a sinner, overflowing with sexual desire and anger.
ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਅਰਜ਼ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਸ਼ਰਮ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ । ਨਾਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਣ ਹਨ, ਨਾਹ ਅਸਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ।
With what mouth should I speak? I have no virtue, and I have rendered no service.
ਹੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਨਾਹ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪੁਰਖ!
The True Guru, the Primal Being, is free of revenge and hate; He is God, the Great Giver.
ਹੇ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਸੀ (ਜੀਵ) ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਾਂ, ਤੁਸੀ (ਸਾਡੀਆਂ) ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ।
I am a sinner; You are my Forgiver.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਸੀ ਜੀਵ ਬੜੇ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਅਸੀ ਬੜੇ ਮੰਦ-ਕਰਮੀ ਹਾਂ (ਜਿਹੜੇ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਜਾ ਪਏ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ) ਪੂਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੇ ।
I am a sinner; I have committed so many sins. The Guru has cut them, cut them, and hacked them off.
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ) ਮੁਖ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਦਾਰੂ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ।੪।੫।
The Guru has placed the healing remedy of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, into my mouth. Servant Nanak, the sinner, has been purified and sanctified. ||4||5||
