ਪਉੜੀ ॥

Pauree:

ਲਲਾ ਲਾਵਉ ਅਉਖਧ ਜਾਹੂ ॥

ਮੈਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ) ਦਵਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਏ,

LALLA: One who takes the medicine of the Naam, the Name of the Lord,

ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਤਿਹ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਖਿਨਾਹੂ ॥

ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਦੁੱਖ-ਦਰਦ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।

is cured of his pain and sorrow in an instant.

ਨਾਮ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਜਿਹ ਰਿਦੈ ਹਿਤਾਵੈ ॥

ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਰੋਗ-ਨਾਸਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ,

One whose heart is filled with the medicine of the Naam,

ਤਾਹਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਨਹੀ ਆਵੈ ॥

ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਰੋਗ (ਵਿਕਾਰ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦਾ ।

is not infested with disease, even in his dreams.

ਹਰਿ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਸਭ ਘਟ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਦਵਾਈ ਹਰੇਕ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ,

The medicine of the Lord's Name is in all hearts, O Siblings of Destiny.

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਨ ਬਨਾਈ ॥

ਪਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਵਰਤਣ ਦਾ) ਢੰਗ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ।

Without the Perfect Guru, no one knows how to prepare it.

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਆ ॥

ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਇਸ ਦਵਾਈ ਦੇ ਵਰਤਣ ਦਾ) ਪਰਹੇਜ਼ ਨੀਅਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ।

When the Perfect Guru gives the instructions to prepare it,

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਉ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੂਖ ਨ ਥੀਆ ॥੪੫॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਪਰਹੇਜ਼ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਦਵਾਈ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ (ਕੋਈ ਵਿਕਾਰ) ਦੁੱਖ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ।੪੫।

then, O Nanak, one does not suffer illness again. ||45||
