ਕਿਹੜੀ ਥਿੱਤ ਸੀ, (ਕਿਹੜਾ) ਵਾਰ ਸੀ, ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਕੋਈ ਜੋਗੀ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ। ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ (ਦੱਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ) ਕਿ ਤਦੋਂ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਰੱੁਤ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਸੀ।
The day and the date are not known to the Yogis, nor is the month or the season.
ਜੋ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਜਗਤ ਕਦੋਂ ਰਚਿਆ)।
The Creator who created this creation-only He Himself knows.
ਜੋਗੀ ਆਸਣ ਜਮਾ ਕੇ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ । ਸਾਈਂ ਫ਼ਕੀਰ ਤਕੀਏ ਵਿਚ ਡੇਰਾ ਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Yogis sit in their Yogic postures, and the Mullahs sit at their resting stations.
ਧਰਮ-ਪੋਥੀਆਂ (ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਣਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਰਾਮਾਤੀ ਜੋਗੀ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਦੇ ਹਨ (ਪਰ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਸਭ ਜਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਕੂਚ ਕਰਦੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ) ।੨।
The Hindu Pandits recite from their books, and the Siddhas sit in the temples of their gods. ||2||
ਜੋਗੀ (ਹੋਣ) ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ (ਹੋਣ, ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ) ਛੇ ਭੇਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਧ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ
The followers of the six different life-styles and world-views, the Yogis and the Sanyaasees have gone astray in doubt without the Guru.
ਜਦੋਂ (ਇਹ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ ੳੇੁੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਤੇ (ਸਹੀ) ਜੀਵਨ-ਜੁਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
If they serve the True Guru, they find the state of salvation; they enshrine the Dear Lord within their minds.
ਵੈਸ਼ਨਵ ਭਗਤ (ਵਰਤ, ਤੁਲਸੀ ਮਾਲਾ, ਤੀਰਥ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਆਦਿਕ) ਸੰਜਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ
The worshipper of Bhagaauti practices self-discipline,
ਜੋਗੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਸੀ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਾਂ
the Yogi speaks of liberation,
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ !) ਜੋਗੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ (ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ) ਜੋਗ ਕਮਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ
Among Yogis, You are the Yogi;
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਭੋਗ ਭੋਗਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਭੋਗ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ
among pleasure seekers, You are the Pleasure Seeker.
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਮਨ (ਦੀ ਵਿਕਾਰ-ਬਿਰਤੀ) ਨਾਲ ਝਗੜਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਸੱਥ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਅੰਤ ਇਸ ਵਿਕਾਰ-ਬਿਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ) ਮਨ (ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਭ-ਬਿਰਤੀ) ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ
He fights with his mind, he settles with his mind, and he is at peace with his mind.
ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਸੁਆਦਲੀ ਗੱਲ ਬਣ ਪਈ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਇਹ) ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਆਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀਣ ਲਈ) ਪਿਆਲਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਆਸ ਸੁਆਸ ਜਪ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ)
Something wonderful has happened-the breath has become the cup.
(ਇਸ ਸੁਆਸ ਸੁਆਸ ਜਪਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਵਿਆਪਕ (ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ) । ਦੱਸ, (ਹੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ ! ਮੈਨੰੂ) ਉਸ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਹੋਰ ਕੌਣ ਵੱਡਾ (ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ) ਹੈ ? ।੩।
In all the three worlds, such a Yogi is unique. What king can compare to him? ||3||
ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਭ੍ਰਮਣ ਭੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ
they wander on journeys all over the earth;
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭੀ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਭੀ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ । ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਜੋਗੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਜਪਾਂ ਤਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਹੀ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਦੌੜਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
and yet, their hearts are not at peace, even for an instant. The Yogi rises up and goes out, over and over again. ||3||
ਕਈ ਬੰਦੇ ਮੂਲੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਪੁਟ ਕੇ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਮੂਲੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ) ਤੇ ਜੰਗਲ ਦੇ ਗੋਸ਼ੇ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Some pick and eat fruits and roots, and live in the wilderness.
ਕਈ ਲੋਕ ਭਗਵੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਤੇ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ
Some wander around wearing saffron robes, as Yogis and Sanyaasees.
ਨਾ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੋਗੀਆਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਰਹੁਰੀਤ, ਨਾ ਜੰਗਮਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਮੌਲਵੀਆਂ ਵਾਲੀ ।
They are not Yogis, and they are not Jangams, followers of Shiva. They are not Qazis or Mullahs.
ਰੱਬ ਵੱਲੋਂ (ਭੀ) ਖੁੰਝੇ ਹੋਏ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਨਹੀਂ) ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਆਵਾ ਹੀ ਊਤਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ।
Ruined by the Merciful Lord, they wander around in disgrace, and their entire troop is contaminated.
ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ
Meditate on the Immaculate Lord, and saturate your mind with Him.
ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ ! ਬਹੁਤਾ ਠੱਗੀ-ਫਰੇਬ ਦਾ ਬੋਲ ਕਿਉਂ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈਂ ? ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Why, O Yogi, do you make so many false and deceptive claims? ||1||Pause||
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ (ਆਦਿਕ ਧਰਮ ਪੁਸਤਕ) ਪੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਇਸ ਵਿਦਵਤਾ ਦਾ ਫ਼ਖ਼ਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ),
The Pandit - the religious scholar - recites the Shaastras and the Simritees;
ਜੋਗੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ) ਗੋਰਖ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ) ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੱਸੀਆਂ ਸਮਾਧੀਆਂ ਆਦਿਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਟੇਕ ਬਣਾਈ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ),
the Yogi cries out, "Gorakh, Gorakh".
ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਡੰਡਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜੋਗੀ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ
The Lord Himself is the Yogi, who wields the staff of authority.
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਹਰੀ-ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ (ਤਪੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਹਰੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਤਪ-ਸਾਧਨ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
The Lord Himself practices tapa - intense self-disciplined meditation; He is deeply absorbed in His primal trance. ||1||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਜੋਗੀ-ਰੂਪ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।
I have met the Guru, the Yogi, the Primal Being; I am delighted with His Love.
ਗੁਰੂ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਦਾ ਵਾਸਨਾ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ ।
The Guru is imbued with the Love of the Lord; He dwells forever in Nirvaanaa.
ਸਭ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹਰੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੋਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਾਇਕ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਸ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਭੋਗਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।
The Lord Himself enjoys every heart, O my Lord of the Universe; He Himself is the Ravisher and the Enjoyer.
(ਪਰ) ਹਰੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਹੈ, (ਸਭ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੋਗਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਉਹ) ਭੁੱਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਹਰੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਭੋਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ।੧।
The Lord is All-knowing - He cannot be fooled, O my Lord of the Universe. He is the True Guru, the Yogi. ||1||
ਜੋਗੀ ਜਤੀ ਸਿੱਧ—ਹਰੇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
the Yogis, celibates and Siddhas yearn for the Lord.
(ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਧੁਰੋਂ) ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
One who is so blessed, sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਨ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਕੇ (ਇਹ) ਸੁਆਹ ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮਲ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ—ਇਹ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਜੋਗ-ਪੰਥ ।
I have brought the five disciples together, and they are now under the control of the one mind.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ) ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਉਪਰਾਮ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਦਸੇ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀਆਂ (ਉੱਚੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀ) ਆਗਿਆ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਈਆਂ ਹਨ, ਤਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਜੋਗੀ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ।੨।
When the ten hermits become obedient to the Lord, then I became an immaculate Yogi. ||2||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ (ਜੁਗਤਿ ਨਿਬਾਹੁਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਜੋਗੀ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ (ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕੱਟ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
By great good fortune, such a Yogi is met, who cuts away the bonds of Maya.
ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ-ਦੇ-ਰੂਪ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ । ਨਾਨਕ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਪਰਸਦਾ ਹੈ ।੫।੧੧।੧੩੨।
Nanak serves and adores this wondrous person, and kisses his feet. ||5||11||132||
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੋਗੀ (ਇਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਬੂ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ) ਜਤਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਥੱਕ ਗਏ, ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਡਿਆਈਆਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਥੱਕ ਗਏ (ਨਾਹ ਜੋਗ-ਸਾਧਨ, ਨਾਹ ਵਿੱਦਿਆ-ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ) ।
The Yogis have tried everything and failed; the virtuous have grown weary of singing God's Glories.
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ (ਇਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਬੂ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਢੋ ਢੁਕ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੨।੪।
O servant Nanak, when the Lord becomes merciful, then every effort is successful. ||2||4||
(ਬੰਦਾ) ਜੋਗੀ (ਅਖਵਾਣ ਦਾ ਹੱਕਦਾਰ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸਹੀ) ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ
Those who contemplate the Way are Yogis.
(ਉਹ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜੁਗਤਿ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ) ਪੰਜਾਂ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
They conquer the five thieves, and enshrine the True Lord in the heart. ||1||Pause||
ਇਸ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਿ-ਰਚਨਾ ਵਿਚ) ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਪੁੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ, ਤੇ ਕਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਹਨ,
Many millions are Siddhas, celibates and Yogis.
ਅਤੇ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੌਜਾਂ ਮਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਹਨ;
Many millions are kings, enjoying worldly pleasures.
(ਸੋ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਆ ਰਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
As water comes to blend with water,
ਤਿਵੇਂ (ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਦੀ) ਆਤਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ;
his light blends into the Light.
ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋਗੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋਗੀ ਹੈ,
Among kings, He is the King; among yogis, He is the Yogi.
ਤਪੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵੱਡਾ ਤਪੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤੀ ਹੈ ।
Among ascetics, He is the Ascetic; among householders, He is the Enjoyer.
ਕਦੇ ਅਸੀ ਜੋਗੀ ਬਣੇ, ਕਦੇ ਜਤੀ, ਕਦੇ ਤਪੀ, ਕਦੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਾਰੀ;
I was a Yogi, a celibate, a penitent, and a Brahmchaaree, with strict self-discipline.
ਕਦੇ ਛਤ੍ਰਪਤੀ ਰਾਜੇ ਬਣੇ ਕਦੇ ਮੰਗਤੇ ।੨।
Sometimes I was a king, sitting on the throne, and sometimes I was a beggar. ||2||
ਜੋਗੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ—ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੋਗ (ਦਾ ਮਾਰਗ ਹੀ) ਚੰਗਾ ਤੇ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਵਰਗਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ (ਸਾਧਨ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।
The Yogi says that Yoga is good and sweet, and nothing else is, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਸਰੇਵੜੇ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਅਵਧੂਤ, ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ—ਅਸਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਲੱਭੀ ਹੈ ।੧।
Those who shave their heads, and those who amputate their limbs, and those who utter only a single word, all say that they have attained the spiritual perfection of the Siddhas. ||1||
ਕੋਈ ਮੰਗਤਾ (ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਮਹਲ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪੁਕਾਰ) ਸੁਣ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
If a beggar cries out at the door, the Master hears it in His Mansion.
(ਫਿਰ) ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਹੌਸਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਧੱਕਾ ਦੇ ਦੇਵੇ (ਮੰਗਤੇ ਦੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਸੁਣ ਲੈਣ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੀ ਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
Whether He receives him or pushes him away, it is the Gift of the Lord's Greatness. ||1||
ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਨੂਰ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ ।
Your Light is in Your creatures, and Your creatures are in Your Light; Your almighty power is pervading everywhere.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਸੋਹਣੀਆਂ ਵਡਿਆਈਆਂ ਹਨ । ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੰੁਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਤਰ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ।
You are the True Lord and Master; Your Praise is so beautiful. One who sings it, is carried across.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਚ ਉਸੇ ਰੱਬੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸਦੀ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਨ । ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।
The Divine Light is revealed, and in that Light, they achieve realization; the self-willed manmukhs wander in doubt and confusion.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ (ਉਸ ਚਾਨਣ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ । (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ) ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਤ ਬੀਤਦੀ ਹੈ ।੨।
O Nanak, when the dawn breaks, their minds are satisfied; they pass their life-night awake and aware. ||2||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੇਰੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।
The mortal's light meets the Light of God, and blends with that Divine Light when the Lord, the Support of the Earth, grants His Grace.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਅਥਾਹ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਪਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਹਰੀ! ।੧।
The Lord, Har, Har, is Inaccessible, Unfathomable, Infinite, the Farthest of the Far. ||1||
ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਨੂਰ (ਚਾਨਣ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ), ਤੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ (ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ) ਰੰਗਣ ਚਾੜ੍ਹਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ।
You are the Light of all, the Life of the World; You imbue each and every heart with Your Love.
। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ! ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੈਨੂੰ (ਹੀ) ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ । ਹੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ (ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਭੀ) ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ।
All meditate on You, O my Beloved; You are the True, True Primal Being, the Immaculate Lord.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਭਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Those devotees who are pleasing to the Lord - the Lord is pleasing to them.
(ਉਹ ਭਗਤ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਮਿਲਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ-ਮਿਕ ਹੋਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।੩।
Their light merges into the Light; the lights are merged and blended together. ||3||
