(ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਅੱਗ ਬੁੱਝ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
The fires of ego and desire have been totally quenched.
(ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕੋ੍ਰਧ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਖਿਮਾ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।੭।
Anger has been dispelled, and I have grasped hold of tolerance. ||7||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਸਿ-ਪੂੰਜੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਵਰਤਦੇ ਹਨ ।
The wealth of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is a treasure to spend; it is the capital of His devotees.
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਖਿਮਾ ਨਿੰਮ੍ਰਤਾ, ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਤੇ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ (ਆਦਿਕ ਗੁਣ ਪਲਰਦੇ ਹਨ) ।
With tolerance, humility, bliss and intuitive poise, they continue to meditate on the Lord, the Treasure of excellence.
ਖਿਮਾ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਗ੍ਰਹਣ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕੀਤਾ,
Adopting an attitude of tolerance, and gathering truth, partake of the Ambrosial Nectar of the Name.
ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਬੜੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ-ਸੁਖ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
When my Lord and Master showed His Great Mercy, I found peace, happiness and bliss.
ਜੇ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੁੱਚੇ ਮੋਤੀ ਵਰਗਾ ਗਹਿਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਏ (ਮੋਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਲਾ ਬਣਾਨ ਲਈ ਧਾਗੇ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ) ਜੇ ਸੁਆਸ ਸੁਆਸ (ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਮੋਤੀ ਪ੍ਰੋਣ ਲਈ) ਧਾਗਾ ਬਣੇ,
If the pearl of the mind is strung like a jewel on the thread of the breath,
ਜੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਵਧੀਕੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਾਰ ਲੈਣ ਦੇ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਿੰਗਾਰ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਉਤੇ ਪਹਿਨ ਲਏ, ਤਾਂ ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।
and the soul-bride adorns her body with compassion, then the Beloved Lord will enjoy His lovely bride. ||1||
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ! ਜਿਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਖਿਮਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸਜਾਵਟ ਬਣਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ (ਦਾ) ਦੀਵਾ ਜਗਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
If the soul-bride adorns herself with compassion and forgiveness, God is pleased, and her mind is illumined with the lamp of the Guru's wisdom.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਨੂੰ ਬੜੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀ! ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਹਾਂ ।੫।
With happiness and ecstasy, my God enjoys her; I offer each and every bit of my soul to Him. ||5||
(ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਨਾਲ) ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ (ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ) ਖੋਜ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Searching, searching, I drink in the Ambrosial Nectar.
ਉਹ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਧੀਕੀ ਸਹਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਪਕਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
I have adopted the way of tolerance, and given my mind to the True Guru.
(ਮੋਹਣੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਖਿਮਾ-ਹੀਣ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਜੀਵ ਖਪ ਮੋਏ ਹਨ,
Without patience and forgiveness, countless hundreds of thousands have perished.
ਗਿਣੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ, ਗਿਣਤੀ ਦਾ ਕੀਹ ਲਾਭ? ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ (ਖਿਮਾ-ਵਿਹੂਣੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ।
Their numbers cannot be counted; how could I count them? Bothered and bewildered, uncounted numbers have died.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ਜਨੋ! ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਿਤਾਵੋ ।
Abide in truth and contentment, O humble Siblings of Destiny.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਧੀਕੀ ਸਹਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗ੍ਰਹਣ ਕਰੋ ।
Hold tight to compassion and the Sanctuary of the True Guru.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਧੀਕੀ ਸਹਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਤੇ ਜਿਗਰਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ, ਇਹ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਲਵੇਰੀ ਗਾਂ, ਤਾਕਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ-ਵੱਛਾ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ (ਇਹ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦਾ) ਦੁੱਧ ਪੀ ਸਕੇ ।
Let forgiveness and patience be my milk-cows, and let the calf of my mind intuitively drink in this milk.
ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਉੱਦਮ ਦਾ ਕੱਪੜਾ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤਾਕਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੇ ।੪।੭।
I beg for the clothes of modesty and the Lord's Praise; Nanak chants the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||4||7||
ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਜਿਥੇ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਹੋਵੇ ਕਿ ਹੀਰਾ-ਜਨਮ ਕਾਹਦੇ ਲਈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ । ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਝੂਠ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਭ (ਦਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ) ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਥੇ (ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ) ਪਾਪ ਅਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ,
Kabeer, where there is spiritual wisdom, there is righteousness and Dharma. Where there is falsehood, there is sin.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਹੈ ।੧੫੫।
Where there is greed, there is death. Where there is forgiveness, there is God Himself. ||155||
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਬੁਰਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਕਰ । ਗੁੱਸਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਹ ਆਉਣ ਦੇਹ ।
Fareed, answer evil with goodness; do not fill your mind with anger.
ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਰੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਪਦਾਰਥ (ਭਾਵ, ਚੰਗਾ ਗੁਣ) ਸਾਂਭਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੭੮।
Your body shall not suffer from any disease, and you shall obtain everything. ||78||
