ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਹੋਂਦ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜੁਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ ।
True In The Primal Beginning. True Throughout The Ages.
ਇਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਭੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਹੋਂਦ ਵਾਲਾ ਰਹੇਗਾ ।੧।
True Here And Now. O Nanak, Forever And Ever True. ||1||
ਪੂਰਨ ਖਿੜਾਉ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਹੋਵੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤ ਵੇਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ), ਨਾਮ (ਸਿਮਰੀਏ) ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਡਿਆਈਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰੀਏ ।
In the Amrit Vaylaa, the ambrosial hours before dawn, chant the True Name, and contemplate His Glorious Greatness.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ‘ਸਿਫਤਿ’-ਰੂਪ ਪਟੋਲਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ-ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨਾਲ ‘ਕੂੜ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਿ’ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
By the karma of past actions, the robe of this physical body is obtained. By His Grace, the Gate of Liberation is found.
ਉਹ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਭੀ ਸਦਾ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੈ।
That True Lord is True, Forever True, and True is His Name.
ਜਿਸ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਐਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਰਹੇਗਾ, ਨਾਹ ਉਹ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਮਰੇਗਾ।
He is, and shall always be. He shall not depart, even when this Universe which He has created departs.
ਸੱਚ ਖੰਡ ਵਿਚ (ਭਾਵ,ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਰੂਪ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
In the realm of Truth, the Formless Lord abides.
ਜੋ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਰਚ ਰਚ ਕੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Having created the creation, He watches over it. By His Glance of Grace, He bestows happiness.
ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ । ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ।
That True Lord is True, forever True, and True is His Name.
ਜਿਸ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਇਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਭੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।
He is, and shall always be. He shall not depart, even when this Universe which He has created departs.
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈਂ; ਉਸ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਪਾਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੱਲ ਸਕਦਾ,
Those, unto whom You give-how can they think of any other?
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ !) ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ (ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ) ਨੂੰ ਸੰਵਾਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ (ਆਪ) ਹੈਂ ।੪।੨।
O Nanak, the True One embellishes and exalts. ||4||2||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੋਹ-ਨਸ਼ਾ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰ ਮੱਲਣ ਦਾ ਆਹਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ।੧।
Those who do not use intoxicants are true; they dwell in the Court of the Lord. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਸੱਚੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣਾ
O Nanak, know the True Lord as True.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੱੁਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਠਾਹਠ ਹੀ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਟਿੱਕਾ ਹੋਵੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਅਠਾਹਠ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਧੀਕ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਚੁਕਾ ਹੋਵੇ)
with the face anointed at the sixty-eight holy places of pilgrimage, and the heart illuminated with wisdom
ਉਸ ਮਨੱੁਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਤਿ ਖਿੜਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਖਿੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਮਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸੱਚਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਲਾਹਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਲਾਹਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।
-with that wisdom, chant the Praises of the True Name, the Treasure of Excellence. ||1||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉੱਘੜਦਾ ਹੈ
The Treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is within them, and through the Naam, they are radiant and famous.
(ਇਹ ਪੱਕਾ ਨਿਯਮ ਜਾਣੋ ਕਿ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਪੂਜਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਤਕਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
They worship the Naam, and they believe in the Naam. The True One is forever Intact and Unbroken. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਜੇ ਮਨੱੁਖ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹ
Meeting the True One, Truth wells up. The truthful are absorbed into the True Lord.
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੁੜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰਕ ਡਰ ਮੁਕਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹ
Intuitive understanding is obtained and one is welcomed with honor, through the Guru's Word, filled with the Fear of God.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ ! ਜਦੋਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ ਡਰ-ਸਹਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
O mind, meeting with the True One, fear departs.
ਜਦ ਤਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਡਰ-ਅਦਬ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਵੇ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਡਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ (ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਡਰ-ਅਦਬ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Without the Fear of God, how can anyone become fearless? Become Gurmukh, and immerse yourself in the Shabad. ||1||Pause||
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਸੌਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਵਿਹਾਝਣ ਲਈ ਜੀਵ ਇਥੇ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ) ਇਹ ਸੌਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਰੀਦਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ
The Gurmukhs purchase the Genuine Article. The True Merchandise is purchased with the True Capital.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸੱਚਾ ਸੌਦਾ ਖ਼ਰੀਦਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਥਾਪਣਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ
Those who purchase this True Merchandise through the Perfect Guru are blessed.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਇਹ ਸੱਚਾ ਸੌਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਵਸਤ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਭੀ ਉਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ।੪।੧੧।
O Nanak, one who stocks this True Merchandise shall recognize and realize the Genuine Article. ||4||11||
(ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਪੱਕਾ ਗੂੜ੍ਹਾ ਲਾਲ ਰੰਗ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਚਿਹਰਾ ਚਮਕ ਉਠਦਾ ਹੈ)
Like the poppies, they are dyed in the deep crimson color of Truthfulness.
ਪਰ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਉਸ ਇੱਕੋ ਦੇ ਪੇ੍ਰਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ) ਹਨ ।੧।
Those contented souls who meditate on the Lord with single-minded love, meet the True Lord. ||1||
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਦਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਘਰ ਮਹਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ, ਟਿਕਵਾਂ (ਚੰਗਾ) ਆਚਰਣ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਲੱਭੀਦਾ ਹੈ
By true actions, this human body is obtained, and the door within ourselves which leads to the Mansion of the Beloved, is found.
(ਪਰ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਚਰਨ ਭੀ ਸੌਖੀ ਖੇਡ ਨਹੀਂ, ਮਨ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲ ਹੀ ਪੇ੍ਰਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ) ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਿੱਧੇ ਰਾਹੇ ਪਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਝਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
The Gurmukhs train their minds to contemplate the Lord, the Supreme Soul. ||2||
(ਜਿਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਮ-ਬੀਜ ਬੀਜਣਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਉਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਬੀਜ ਬੀਜਦਾ ਹੈ
First, He prepares the ground, and then He plants the Seed of the True Name.
ਉਥੇ ਨਾਮ ਉੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਮਾਨੋ) ਨੌ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ (ਉਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ) ਕਬੂਲ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੨।
The nine treasures are produced from Name of the One Lord. By His Grace, we obtain His Banner and Insignia. ||2||
ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਰੋਕ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
Those who receive His Mercy obtain the True One. The Gurmukhs dwell forever in balanced restraint. ||3||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੱੁਖ (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ) ਸਦਾ-ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ
By true actions, the True Lord is met, and the Guru's Teachings are found.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਰੀਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਅਦਬ-ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਦਾ) ਅਸਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ
One whose body is imbued with the Fear of the True One, and whose tongue savors Truthfulness,
ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ (ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਦੀ ਕੁਠਾਲੀ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਤਾਅ (ਸੇਕ) ਨਹੀਂ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ।੨।
is brought to ecstasy by the True Lord's Glance of Grace. That person does not have to go through the fire of the womb again. ||2||
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਅਦਬ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ
The body of the five elements is dyed in the Fear of the True One; the mind is filled with the True Light.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਰਾਖੀ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮਿਲੀ, ਵਿਕਾਰ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹਟ ਗਏ
O Nanak, your demerits shall be forgotten; the Guru shall preserve your honor. ||4||15||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਇਕ ਅਥਾਹ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ) ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬੇੜੀ ਬਣਾ ਲਈਏ ਤਾਂ (ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ
O Nanak, the Boat of Truth will ferry you across; contemplate the Guru.
ਪਰ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਜੀਵ ਹਨ (ਜੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਅਕਲ ਦੇ ਮਾਣ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਜੰਮਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ)
Some come, and some go; they are totally filled with egotism.
ਆਪਣੀ ਅਕਲ ਦੇ ਹਠ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਡੁੱਬੀਦਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ । ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
Through stubborn-mindedness, the intellect is drowned; one who becomes Gurmukh and truthful is saved. ||1||
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ (ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ) ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਨਾਸ ਭੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ । ਤੇ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਕਾ-ਨਕ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹ
We shall merge into the One from whom we came. The True One is pervading each and every heart.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਮਹਲ ਵਿਚ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ ।੨।
He Himself unites us in Union with Himself; the True Mansion of His Presence is close at hand. ||2||
(ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਵੈਰਾਗਵਾਨ ਮਨ (ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਅਦਬ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
If the mind becomes balanced and detached, and comes to dwell in its own true home, imbued with the Fear of God,
ਉਹ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਦਾ ਮਹਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦੀ
then it enjoys the essence of supreme spiritual wisdom; it shall never feel hunger again.
(ਲੋਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਜੰਜਾਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਖਚਿਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ
In this world, people are engrossed in false pursuits, but in the world hereafter, only the account of your true actions is accepted.
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਸਲ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਇਹੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ), ਗੁਰੂ ਵਾਲੀ ਇਹ ਕਾਰ (ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ) ਮੰਨੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।
The Guru serves the Lord, His Intimate Friend. The Guru's actions are supremely exalted.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ) ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹ
Those who praise the True One are true; the True Name is their Support.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਸਦਾ- ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਕਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
They act truthfully, in love with the True Lord.
ਜਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਦੋਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ
Those who serve the True Guru are saved; they keep the True One enshrined in their hearts.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ (ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ।੩।
By His Grace, we find the Lord, and reflect on the True Word of the Shabad. ||3||
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੱੁਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ), ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ
I fall at the feet of those who serve their True Guru.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! (ਆਖ—) ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜੇਹੜੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸੁਰਖ਼ਰੂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।੪।੨੧।੫੪।
O Nanak, I am a sacrifice to those who are found to be true in the True Court. ||4||21||54||
ਜੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ‑ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ‑ਬੀ ਬੀਜ ਕੇ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ) ਫ਼ਸਲ ਬੀਜੀਏ
With intuitive ease, cultivate your farm, and plant the Seed of the True Name.
ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਉੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਬੀਜਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ (ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
The seedlings have sprouted luxuriantly, and with intuitive ease, the mind is satisfied.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਐਸਾ) ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਹੈ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜਲ ਹੈ) ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਪੀਤਿਆਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ
The Word of the Guru's Shabad is Ambrosial Nectar; drinking it in, thirst is quenched.
ਹੈ (ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਇਹ ਮਨ ਅਡੋਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ‑ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
This true mind is attuned to Truth, and it remains permeated with the True One. ||2||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਖਣਾ ਵੇਖਣਾ ਬੋਲਣਾ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ) ਤੇ ਹਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ (ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ)
In speaking, in seeing and in words, remain immersed in the Shabad.
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ (ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਣਾ ਸੁਣਾ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ (ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ) ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਕਾਇਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ
The Word of the Guru's Bani vibrates throughout the four ages. As Truth, it teaches Truth.
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੰੂ ਆਪਣੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਪਣੱਤ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ
Egotism and possessiveness are eliminated, and the True One absorbs them into Himself.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਥਾਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ।੩।
Those who remain lovingly absorbed in the True One see the Mansion of His Presence close at hand. ||3||
ਉਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਨੇ ਆਪ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ
They cast off the filth of their mental duality, and they keep the Lord enshrined in their hearts.
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਆਪ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
True is their speech, and true are their minds. They are in love with the True One. ||1||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੱੁਖਾਂ (ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ) ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੰੂ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁੱਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ
Those who have the Support of the True Name are in ecstasy and peace forever.
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they obtain the True One, the Destroyer of pain.
(ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਗੁਣ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਆਦਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹ
The virtuous obtain Truth; they give up their desires for evil and corruption.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ।
Their minds are imbued with the Word of the Guru's Shabad; the Love of their Beloved is on their tongues.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪਛਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ-ਰੰਗ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ
Those who recognize the True One are permeated and attuned to Truth.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋਤਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
Their minds are pierced through by the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and God Himself ushers them into His Presence. ||2||
(ਪਰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀ ਵੱਸ ?) ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗ ਨਾਲ) ਰੰਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ (ਚਰਨਾਂ) ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ
He Himself dyes us in the Color of His Love; through the Word of His Shabad, He unites us with Himself.
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ (ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ ਨਾਲ) ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਰੰਗ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਤਰਦਾ
This True Color shall not fade away, for those who are attuned to His Love.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਖੱਟੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ
Earning Truth, and accumulating the Wealth of Truth, the truthful person gains a reputation of Truth.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ (ਮੁੜ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ) ਜੁਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ।੪।੨੬।੫੯।
Meeting with the True One, O Nanak, the Gurmukh shall not be separated from Him again. ||4||26||59||
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜਦੋਂ) ਦਿਆਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤਦੋਂ) ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ) ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ
God Himself is Merciful; He Himself bestows understanding.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
Through the Guru's Teachings, the True One dwells forever in the mind of those who remain lovingly attached to Him. ||1||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ (ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ) ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਰਲਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ
Through the Guru's Teachings, praise the True One, who has no end or limitation.
(ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਦੀ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹ
He dwells in each and every heart, by the Hukam of His Command; by His Hukam, we contemplate Him.
(ਆਖ—ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ ਹ
Praising the True One, attached to the True One, I am satisfied with the True Name.
(ਮੇਰੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਇਕੱਠੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ਤੇ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਔਗੁਣ ਧੋ ਕੇ ਕੱਢ ਦਿਆਂ
Contemplating His Virtues, I accumulate virtue and merit; I wash myself clean of demerits.
ਹੇ ਸਤਸੰਗੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਓ ! ਆਓ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੋ, ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿਉ
Come and meet with me, my sister soul-brides, and unite me with my Husband.
ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ‑ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਿਸਮਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।੩।
She who meets the True Guru, by perfect good fortune, finds her Husband; she is absorbed in the True One. ||3||
ਹੇ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਏ ! ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਤੇ) ਤੁਰ
O woman, you must walk in harmony with the Guru's Will.
(ਜੇਹੜੀਆਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਉਹ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Night and day, you shall enjoy your Husband, and you shall intuitively merge into the True One. ||1||Pause||
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਪਾ ਲਈ ਹੈ ।
Those who recognize the One renounce the love of duality.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਪੈ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ ।੪।੨੯।੬੨।
The Gurmukh recognizes the Naam, O Nanak, and is absorbed into the True One. ||3||29||62||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ! ਤੂੰ (ਹੀ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ । ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ
O Dear Lord, You are the Truest of the True. All things are in Your Power.
(ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਗੁਰੂ-ਪੀਰ ਨੰੂ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਲੱਖ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਵ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਨੂੰ) ਤਰਸਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
The 8.4 million species of beings wander around searching for You, but without the Guru, they do not find You.
ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
When the Dear Lord grants His Forgiveness, this human body finds lasting peace.
(ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਭੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਤੇ ਡੂੰਘੇ ਜਿਗਰੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ।੧।
By Guru's Grace, I serve the True One, who is Immeasurably Deep and Profound. ||1||
(ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ) ਮਾਇਆ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਜੇਡਾ (ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ) ਦੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ (ਮਾਇਆ) ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਭਟਕ ਭਟਕ ਕੇ ਖਪਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ
There is no pain as great as the pain of Maya; it drives people to wander all around the world, until they become exhausted.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
Through the Guru's Teachings, peace is found, with the True Name enshrined in the heart. ||3||
(ਪਰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੀ ਕੀਹ ਵੱਸ ?) ਜਿਸ (ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੰੂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੰੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ । ਮੈਂ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ
I am a sacrifice to those who meet and merge with the Lord.
ਹੇ ਮਨ ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ (ਦੇ ਰੰਗ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੰੂ ‘ਆਪਣਾ ਘਰ’ ਲੱਭ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਆਤਮਕ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਤੇ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਥੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੰੂ ਧੱਕਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਸਕਦਾ)
This mind is attuned to devotional worship; through the True Word of Gurbani, it finds its own home.
(ਮੇਰੀ ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਇਹੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਬੇ-ਸ਼ੱਕ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਣ, ਪਰ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਕਦੇ) ਨਾਹ ਭੱੁਲੇ
Let me forget everything, but let me not forget the One Lord.
ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਧੰਧਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਮੋਹ ਸਾੜ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ । ਇਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰਾ (ਜੀਵਨ-) ਮਨੋਰਥ ਹੈ
All my evil pursuits have been burnt away; the Guru has blessed me with the Naam, the true object of life.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੱੁਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਵਿਚ ਗਿੱਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਚਿੱਤ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ) ਡੋਲਣੋਂ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
When the mind accepts, and is satisfied with the One, then the consciousness becomes steady and stable.
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਨੰੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਨੰੂ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੪।੫।੭੫।
Then, one's food is the True Name, one's garments are the True Name, and one's Support, O Nanak, is the True Name. ||4||5||75||
ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਰੰਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਰੂਪ-ਰੇਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ । ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਕੀਮਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਦੇ ਵੱਟੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ)
He has no color or mark; His Value cannot be estimated.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁੂ ! ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਮੇਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੪।੭।੭੭।
Please show Mercy to Nanak, God, and bless him with Your True Name. ||4||7||77||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
My comings and goings in reincarnation have come to an end; He Himself has bestowed His Mercy.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ (ਜੀਵਨ-) ਸਾਥੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਐਸਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਘਰ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
I have obtained my home in the True Mansion of His Presence, realizing the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||3||
ਹੇ ਮਾਂ ! ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ (ਹੁਣ) ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕਦੇ ਮਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਜੋ ਨਾਹ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ
I have fallen in love with the True Lord. He does not die, He does not come and go.
ਉਹ ਵਿਛੋੜਿਆਂ ਵਿਛੁੜਦਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ । (ਹੇ ਮਾਂ !) ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ
In separation, He is not separated from us; He is pervading and permeating amongst all.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਅੱਟਲ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਥਾਂ ਭੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ
True is His Empire, and True is His Command. True is His Seat of True Authority.
ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਅਟੱਲ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਰਚੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹ
True is the Creative Power which He has created. True is the world which He has fashioned.
ਉਸ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! (ਆਖ—) ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੪।੧੬।੮੬।
O Nanak, chant the True Name; I am forever and ever a sacrifice to Him. ||4||16||86||
(ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ !) ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਇਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਇਹੀ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਬੂ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਅਟੱਲ ਸਾਧਨ ਹੈ
The True Capital, and the True Way of Life, comes by chanting His Glories, twenty-four hours a day.
(ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
Granting His Grace, God meets us, and we no longer die, or come or go in reincarnation. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ! ਗੁਰੂ ਜੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ (ਉੱਚ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ
O my mind, there is no other as great as the Guru.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ । (ਪਰ) ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I cannot imagine any other place. The Guru leads me to meet the True Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਹੋਰ ਭੀ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਰਮ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਜਿੰਦ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਫਾਹੀ-ਰੂਪ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਪਰ ਹਉਮੈ ਆਦਿਕ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਦਾ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਹੀ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਹਿਦਾਇਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ)
There are so many entanglements for the soul. Only as Gurmukh do we find the Gate of Liberation.
ਹਰੇਕ (ਕਰਮ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਘਟੀਆ ਹੈ, ਸਿਮਰਨ ਰੂਪ ਕਰਮ ਸਭ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਧਰਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ
Truth is higher than everything; but higher still is truthful living. ||5||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਬਣ ਗਈ ਹੈ ।
One who has faith in the Guru in his mind
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
comes to dwell upon the Lord God.
(ਜਗਤ ਰੂਪ ਛਲ ਵਲੋਂ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਪਰਤ ਕੇ, ਜਗਤ ਦੇ) ਅਸਲੇ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ (ਰੱਬ) ਮਨੱੁਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਏ ।
One knows the Truth only when the Truth is in his heart.
