ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਨ ਨਾਲ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਦਾਨ (ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ), ਸੰਤੋਖ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Listening-truth, contentment and spiritual wisdom.
ਮਾਨੋ, ਅਠਾਹਠ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ (ਹੀ) ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ,
Listening-take your cleansing bath at the sixty-eight places of pilgrimage.
ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਭਗਤ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ,
Countless devotees contemplate the Wisdom and Virtues of the Lord.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਦਾਨੀ ਤੇ ਦਾਤੇ ਹਨ।
Countless the holy, countless the givers.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭੀ ਅੱਖਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ (ਲਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ), ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਿਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਭੀ ਅੱਖਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
From the Word, comes the Naam; from the Word, comes Your Praise.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਭੀ ਅੱਖਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ (ਵਿਚਾਰਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ)। ਅੱਖਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਉਸਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਾਕਫ਼ ਹੋ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
From the Word, comes spiritual wisdom, singing the Songs of Your Glory.
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕਤਾ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ (ਚੂਰਮਾ) ਹੋਵੇ, ਦਇਆ ਇਸ (ਗਿਆਨ-ਰੂਪ) ਭੰਡਾਰੇ ਦੀ ਵਰਤਾਈ ਹੋਵੇ, ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਿਹੜੀ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਰੌ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, (ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ਛਕਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਜੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਇਹ ਨਾਦੀ ਵੱਜ ਰਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ,
Let spiritual wisdom be your food, and compassion your attendant. The Sound-current of the Naad vibrates in each and every heart.
ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਥ ਆਪ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੋਵੇ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਹੈ,ਇਹ) ਰਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ (ਤਾਂ) ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਖੜਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਹਨ।
He Himself is the Supreme Master of all; wealth and miraculous spiritual powers, and all other external tastes and pleasures, are all like beads on a string.
ਆਤਮਾਕ ਜਾਗ ਵਿਚ,ਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਚ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਸਾਡੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।
No power to gain intuitive understanding, spiritual wisdom and meditation.
ਉਸ ਜੁਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਸਾਡਾ ਇਖ਼ਤਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
No power to find the way to escape from the world.
ਧਰਮ ਖੰਡ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਾ ਇਹੀ ਕਰਤੱਬ ਹੈ, (ਜੋ ਉੱਪਰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ)।
This is righteous living in the realm of Dharma.
ਹੁਣ ਗਿਆਨ ਖੰਡ ਦਾ ਕਰਤੱਬ (ਭੀ) ਸਮਝ ਲਵੋ (ਜੋ ਅਗਲੀਆਂ ਤੁਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ)।
And now we speak of the realm of spiritual wisdom.
ਗਿਆਨ ਖੰਡ ਵਿਚ (ਭਾਵ, ਮਨੱੁਖ ਦੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ) ਗਿਆਨ ਹੀ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
In the realm of wisdom, spiritual wisdom reigns supreme.
ਇਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਸਭ ਰਾਗਾਂ, ਤਮਾਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਕੌਤਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
The Sound-current of the Naad vibrates there, amidst the sounds and the sights of bliss.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੀ) ਜਿੰਦੇ ! (ਐਸਾ ਉੱਦਮ ਕਰ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਮਨ (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ) ਗਿੱਝ ਜਾਏ
O my soul, chant the Name of the Lord; the mind will be pleased and appeased.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲਈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅੰਦਰਲੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਸੜਨ ਬੁੱਝ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।
The raging fire within is extinguished; the Gurmukh obtains spiritual wisdom. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਦਾ ਮਹਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦੀ
then it enjoys the essence of supreme spiritual wisdom; it shall never feel hunger again.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਇਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਲੋਂ) ਮਾਰ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹੁ, ਫਿਰ ਕਦੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦਾ) ਦੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪੇਗਾ ।੫।੧੮।
O Nanak, conquer and subdue this mind; meet with the Lord, and you shall never again suffer in pain. ||5||18||
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਹਰੀ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ, ਸਾਰੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ
All comforts and peace, and the Essence of the Lord, are enjoyed by acquiring spiritual wisdom in the Society of the Saints.
(ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
Day and night, continually serve the Lord God; the True Guru has given the Naam. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ । (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
The Gurmukhs realize the Word of the Shabad; they are immersed in the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord's Name.
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
The Guru has lit the brilliant light of spiritual wisdom, and the darkness of ignorance has been dispelled. ||2||
ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੀ ਰਹੀ, ਉਹ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਲੋਂ ਛੁੱਟੜ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹਾਸਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ
She is utterly lacking in spiritual wisdom; she is abandoned by her Husband Lord. She cannot obtain His Love.
ਅਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਵ‑ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ) ਹਨੇਰਾ ਵਿਆਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ
In the darkness of intellectual ignorance, she cannot see her Husband, and her hunger does not depart.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹ
By Guru's Grace, the Lord comes to abide in the mind, and the filth of egotism is dispelled.
ਜਿਵੇਂ (ਜੇ) ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਦੀਵਾ ਬਾਲ ਦੇਈਏ (ਤਾਂ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਤਿਵੇਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਸਮਝ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਹਉਮੈ-ਰੂਪ) ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ (ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ) ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
Like a lamp lit in the darkness, the spiritual wisdom of the Guru dispels ignorance. ||2||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਮੰਨੇ-ਪ੍ਰਮੰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
Those who focus their consciousness on the True Guru are perfectly fulfilled and famous.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ੳੱੁਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ
Spiritual wisdom wells up in the minds of those unto whom the Lord Himself shows Mercy.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਗਿੱਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਦੀ ਲਿਵ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ
Those who obey the True One-their minds abide in true meditation.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਪਵ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਮਝੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੪।
Those who become Gurmukh, and obtain spiritual wisdom-their minds and mouths are known to be pure. ||4||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਡਰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਸੁਰਮਾ ਵਰਤ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ) ਵੇਖ ਲੈ (ਵੇਖ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ)
The ointment of spiritual wisdom is the destroyer of fear; through love, the Pure One is seen.
ਜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਤੇ ਰੱਖੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਅਣ-ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ
The mysteries of the seen and the unseen are all known, if the mind is kept centered and balanced.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦੀ
O Siblings of Destiny, without the Guru, there is no spiritual wisdom.
(ਬੇਸ਼ਕ) ਕੋਈ ਧਿਰ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਨੂੰ, ਨਾਰਦ ਨੂੰ, ਵੇਦਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਬਿਆਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛ ਲਵੋ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Go and ask Brahma, Naarad and Vyaas, the writer of the Vedas. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਉਣੀ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜਨੀ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਉਣੀ—(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ) ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ । ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ
Know that from the vibration of the Word, we obtain spiritual wisdom and meditation. Through it, we speak the Unspoken.
ਗੁਰੂ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਇਕ ਹਰਾ ਤੇ ਫਲਦਾਰ ਰੱੁਖ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਗੂੜ੍ਹੀ ਸੰਘਣੀ ਛਾਂ ਹੈ
He is the fruit-bearing Tree, luxuriantly green with abundant shade.
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਜੇ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਿਹਰ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂੁ ਨਾਲ ਅਜੇਹਾ) ਪੱਕਾ ਪਿਆਰ (ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਕਦੇ) ਟੁੱਟਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ
True love shall not be broken, if the True Guru is met.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਭੀ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਭਵਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ
Obtaining the wealth of spiritual wisdom, the understanding of the three worlds is acquired.
ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ (ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤਾ) ਵਿਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ । (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹੀ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਭਟਕਦੀ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਹੈ
Without the Guru, no one is shown the Way. Like the blind, they continue coming and going.
ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਜੀਵ ਨੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਢਹੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਗਵਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਠੱਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਲੋਂ) ਲੁੱਟਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
Having lost the treasure of spiritual wisdom, they depart, defrauded and plundered. ||1||
ਸਮਾਧੀਆਂ ਲਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਮਾਧੀਆਂ ਲਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
The meditatives practice meditation,
ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਲੋਕ ਧਰਮ-ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
and the wise practice spiritual wisdom,
ਜੀਵ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਜਿਸਨੇ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਬਣਤਰ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ
You do not know the One who created the creation. Gather spiritual wisdom within your mind.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਆਖ—(ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ) ਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਹਰ ਵਿਚ (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਜਨਮ ਲੈ ਕੇ) ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
Says Nanak, in the second watch of the night, you have forgotten to meditate. ||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ, (ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਕਸੈਲੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਰਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਪਛਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The Lord's Name is not within your heart, but all sorts of other tastes seem sweet to you.
ਹੇ ਝੂਠੇ (ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਜੀਵ) ! ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨਹੀਂ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ, ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਰੋਕਣ ਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਉੱਦਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ (ਇਸ ਦਾ ਨਤੀਜਾ ਇਹ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ) ਤੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਜਾਇਗਾ ।
You have no wisdom at all, no meditation, no virtue or self-discipline; in falsehood, you are caught in the cycle of birth and death.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ) ਮੇਰਾ ਵਿਆਹ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ
My marriage has been performed, O my father. As Gurmukh, I have found the Lord.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਗਿਆਨ (-ਰੂਪ ਸੂਰਜ ਇਤਨਾ) ਤੇਜ਼ ਜਗ-ਮਗ ਕਰ ਉਠਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਬੇ-ਸਮਝੀ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ
The darkness of ignorance has been dispelled. The Guru has revealed the blazing light of spiritual wisdom.
(ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਲੱਭ ਕੇ) ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਹਰੀ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ,
Those who do not serve the True Guru, and who do not contemplate the Word of the Shabad
(ਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਚਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ, ਉਹ ਜੀਵ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ (ਜੀਊਂਦਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਭੀ) ਮੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ
-spiritual wisdom does not enter into their hearts; they are like dead bodies in the world.
(ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਗਿਆਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਬੁੱਧ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ
Intuitive peace and poise well up within, and the intellect is awakened to spiritual wisdom.
ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਜੁੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
By Guru's Grace, the inner being is touched by the Lord's Love. ||3||
(ਜਿਵੇਂ ੳੱੁਪਰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ) ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਪਈ ਹੈ । ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ, ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ ! (ਹੁਣ) ਆਖ ਕਿ
This spiritual wisdom of God, the Supreme Soul, has illuminated my being. Says Kabeer, I am attuned to His Love.
ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਤਾਂ ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਵਿਚ ਭੁੱਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ (ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ) ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਰਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੋਮੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ।੪।੩।
All the rest of the world is deluded by doubt, while my mind is intoxicated with the Sublime Essence of the Lord. ||4||3||
ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ
Through the Guru, I have obtained the Lord's spiritual wisdom. I have obtained the Sublime Essence of the Lord.
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ
My mind is imbued with the Love of the Lord; I drink in the Sublime Essence of the Lord.
ਹੇ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ! ਤੇਰਾ ਹੁਕਮ (ਸਿਰ-ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੰਨਣਾ) ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਹੀ ਹੈ
To praise You is to follow Your Command and Your Will.
ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਲਾਈ ਜਾਨਣਾ) ਇਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਗਿਆਨ ਹੈ ਇਹੀ ਅਸਲ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਹੈ ।
That which pleases You is spiritual wisdom and meditation.
ਉਹ ਹਰੀ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਨੇਕ ਕਮਾਈ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
He comes to meet those who deserve it by their past actions.
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੁੜੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ੨।
The Perfect Transcendent Lord is spiritual wisdom and meditation. God is All-powerful to do all things. ||2||
