(ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ-) ਸ਼ਹਰ ਕਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਕੋ੍ਰਧ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ । ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਹੀ (ਕਾਮ ਕੋ੍ਰਧ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਜੋੜ ਨੂੰ) ਤੋੜਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The body-village is filled to overflowing with anger and sexual desire; these were broken into bits when I met with the Holy Saint.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਜੋਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਵ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੋੜ ਟੱੁਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੧।
By pre-ordained destiny, I have met with the Guru. I have entered into the realm of the Lord's Love. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਮ ਤੇ ਕੋ੍ਰਧ ਚੰਡਾਲ ਵੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ
Unfulfilled sexual desire and unresolved anger dwell in my body, like the outcasts who cremate the dead.
ਹੇ ਕਰਤਾਰ ! ਮੈਂ ਸਾਂਹਸੀਆਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਿਆ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੨।
I live as a wild hunter, O Creator! ||2||
(ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਘੜੀ ਦੋ ਘੜੀ ਲਈ ਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਕੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਹੁਣਾ ਉਸ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਸਵਾਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਬੈਠੇ ਤਾਂ ਹਾਸੋ-ਹੀਣਾ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ
For a brief moment, man is a guest of the Lord; he tries to resolve his affairs.
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਜੀਵ ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਘੜੀ ਦੋ ਘੜੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਹੁਣਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਕੰਮ-ਧੰਧੇ ਨਿਜਿੱਠਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਮੂਰਖ (ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਰਾਹ) ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਕਾਮਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹ
Engrossed in Maya and sexual desire, the fool does not understand.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ (ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ) ਸੇਵਾ (ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਆਚਰਨ (ਬਣਾ ਕੇ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਚਮਕ ਉੱਠਦਾ ਹੈ
By Guru's Grace, your face shall be radiant. Chanting the Naam, you shall receive the benefits of giving charity and taking cleansing baths.
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਉੱਕਾ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
Sexual desire, anger and greed are eliminated, and all egotistical pride is abandoned. ||2||
(ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਲੋਭੀ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁੱਝਦਾ, ਚੰਗੀ ਮੰਦੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਚੀਜ਼ ਖਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ
the greedy person, unaware, consumes everything, edible and non-edible alike.
ਕਾਮ ਦੇ ਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦੇ ਨਸ਼ੇ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
Engrossed in the intoxication of sexual desire and anger, people wander through reincarnation over and over again. ||2||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਦਬਾਉ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵਿਚ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ
The world is drunk, engrossed in sexual desire, anger and egotism.
(ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਉ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆਂ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦਾ) ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰਾ-ਰੂਪ ਦੁੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
Seek the Sanctuary of the Saints, and fall at their feet; your suffering and darkness shall be removed. ||2||
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਕਾਮ ਕੋ੍ਰਧ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ (ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ (ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ) ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
Those who are attuned to the Shabad are spotless and pure; they renounce sexual desire, anger, selfishness and conceit.
ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਲਾਹੰੁਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੀ ਯਾਦ) ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ।
They sing the Praises of the Naam, forever and ever; they keep the Lord enshrined within their hearts.
ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਮ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨੇ ਮੋਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਵੇ, ਜੇ ਉਸ ਸ਼ੂਮ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ (ਸਦਾ) ਲੋਭ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ
When you are under the power of sexual desire, anger and worldly attachment, or a greedy miser in love with your wealth;
ਜੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਚਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਉੱਘੇ ਪਾਪ-ਅਪਰਾਧ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਣ, ਜੇ ਉਹ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਭੈੜਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਣਾ ਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋਵ
if you have committed the four great sins and other mistakes; even if you are a murderous fiend
ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ ਕਰਨ ਆਏ ਹੇ ਜੀਵ-ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ! (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ) ਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਹਰ ਵਿਚ ਭਰ-ਜਵਾਨੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਜੀਵ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ (-ਅਕਲ ਇਉਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਸ਼ਰਾਬ (ਵਿਚ ਗੁੱਟ ਹੈ)
In the second watch of the night, O my merchant friend, you are intoxicated with the wine of youth and beauty.
ਹੇ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ! (ਜੀਵ) ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਕਾਮ-ਵਾਸਨਾ ਵਿਚ ਦਬਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਕਾਮ ਵਿਚ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕਾਣ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ) ਨਹੀਂ (ਹੁੰਦੀ)
Day and night, you are engrossed in sexual desire, O my merchant friend, and your consciousness is blind to the Naam.
ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਕੇ (ਤੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ) ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ (ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਫੁਲਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹ
Through the Kind and Compassionate True Guru, I have met the Lord; I have conquered sexual desire, anger and greed.
ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅਕੱਥ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ) ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ । ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੫।੧।੩।
Our Indescribable Lord and Master cannot be described. Nanak is devoted, forever a sacrifice to Him. ||5||1||3||
ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਤੇ ਪੁੰਨ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਬੁੱਧ ਤੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈਂ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ
Abandoning meditation, penance and self-restraint, and the wisdom of good actions, you do not worship and adore the Lord's Name.
(ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਕਾਮ ਜ਼ੋਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ, ਭੈੜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਬੱੁਧੀ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, (ਕਾਮਾਤੁਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਤੂੰ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਗਲ ਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ ।੨।
You are overflowing with sexual desire, and your intellect is stained with darkness; you are held in the grip of Shakti's power. ||2||
(ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਜੁਆਨੀ ਦਾ ਜੋਸ਼ ਹੈ, ਪਰਾਈਆ ਜ਼ਨਾਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰੰਹ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਵੇਲਾ ਕੁਵੇਲਾ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ
In the heat of youthful passion, you look with desire upon the faces of other men's wives; you do not distinguish between good and evil.
ਹੇ ਕਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਏ ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਬਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਭੁੱਲੇ ਹੋਏ ! ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਪਾਪ ਕੀਹ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪੁੰਨ ਕੀਹ ਹ
Drunk with sexual desire and other great sins, you go astray, and do not distinguish between vice and virtue.
ਤੇਰੇ ਕੇਸ ਚਿੱਟੇ ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਤੋਂ ਭੀ ਵਧੀਕ ਚਿੱਟੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਤੇਰੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ (ਡਾਢੀ ਮੱਧਮ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਸਤਵੇਂ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ
Your hair is whiter than the jasmine flower, and your voice has grown feeble, as if it comes from the seventh underworld.
ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਸਿੰਮ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਤੇਰੀ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਵਾਲੀ ਬੱੁਧ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਕਾਮ (ਦੀ) ਮਧਾਣੀ (ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਪੈ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਅਜੇ ਭੀ ਕਾਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਜ਼ੋਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ)
Your eyes water, and your intellect and strength have left you; but still, your sexual desire churns and drives you on.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਅਲੱਖ ਅਭੇਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ, ਇਹੀ ਪਾਰਜਾਤ (-ਰੱੁਖ ਮਨੋਕਾਮਨਾ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹੈ ।
The Elysian Tree, the source of all blessings, is meditation on the Unseen and Unknowable Lord.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੱੁਖ (ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਕਾਮ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕੋ੍ਰਧ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ) ਆਸਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ।੩।
The Guru has cut out the sinful mistakes of sexual desire and anger, and my hopes have been fulfilled. ||3||
ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ ।
You Yourself recognize Your Own Self.
ਤੇਰੇ ਜਿਸ ਜਿਸ ਸੰਤ ਨੇ (ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਭ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੩।
I am a sacrifice to Your Saints, who have crushed their sexual desire, anger and greed. ||3||
ਇਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿਵਿਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਹੀ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕਰਮ ਕਾਂਡ ਰਚੇ ਗਏ) ।
For them, the Simritees and the Shaastras were composed.
ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਾਲਸਾ ਤੇ ਦੁਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਡਰ ਦਾ ਜਜ਼ਬਾ ਪਸਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਦੁਖ ਪਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ।੨।
Sexual desire and anger are diffused throughout the universe. Coming and going, people suffer in pain. ||2||
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਕਈ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ (ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ) ਲਹਿ ਜਾਇਗੀ, ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ ।
In this way, the filth of lifetimes of karma shall be removed, and egotistical pride shall vanish from your mind.
(ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਕਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਫਸੀਦਾ, ਲੋਭ-ਕੁੱਤਾ ਭੀ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਲੋਭ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਅਸਰ ਹੇਠ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕੁੱਤੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਦਰ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ) ।
Sexual desire and anger shall not seduce you, and the dog of greed shall depart.
ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਖਾਣ ਪੀਣ ਦੀ ਲਾਲਸਾ ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ,
Fifth, he runs after food and drink;
ਛੇਵੀਂ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ (ਅੱਪੜ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਕਾਮ (ਜਾਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ) ਜਾਤਿ ਕੁਜਾਤਿ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ।
sixth, in his sexual desire, he does not respect social customs.
(ਜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਕਾਮ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਝੂਠ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਵੇ, ਜੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਲਾਲਚ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ (ਭੀ) ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਏ,
Renounce sexual desire, anger, falsehood and slander; forsake Maya and eliminate egotistical pride.
ਜੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਕਾਲਖ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Renounce sexual desire and promiscuity, and give up emotional attachment. Only then shall you obtain the Immaculate Lord amidst the darkness of the world.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਈ, ਕਿ ਇਥੋਂ ਤੁਰ ਭੀ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ । ਸੋ, ਉਹ ਕਾਮ ਕਰੋਧ-ਰੂਪ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ (ਜ਼ਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਵਧਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ।
They do not recognize the ultimate reality, that we all must go; they continue to cultivate the poisons of sexual desire and anger.
(ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ) ਭਗਤ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ।

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ) ਕਾਮ ਕੋ੍ਰਧ (ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰ) ਚੋਟ ਲਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ)
Sexual desire and anger are the wounds of the soul.
ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਕੇ (ਇਥੋਂ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਖੋਟ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਤੁਰ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੨।
The evil-minded ones forget the Naam, and then depart. ||2||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਔੜ ਲੱਗਣ ਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਦਰਿਆਵਾਂ ਕੰਢੇ ਹਰਿਆਵਲੇ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਰ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਚੰਦ-ਰੋਜ਼ਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Those who are committed to the Naam, see the world as merely a temporary pasture.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾ ਵਿਹੁਲਾ ਮਟਕਾ ਭੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦੇ) ।
Sexual desire and anger are broken, like a jar of poison.
(ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਕਾਮ (ਪ੍ਰਬਲ) ਹੈ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ (ਪ੍ਰਬਲ) ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ (ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ) ਹੈ ।
The conscious mind is engrossed in sexual desire, anger and Maya.
ਝੂਠ ਬੋਲਣ ਦੇ ਭੈੜ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਿਤ ਜਾਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਤਤਪਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The conscious mind is awake only to falsehood, corruption and attachment.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ-ਨਗਰ ਕਾਮ ਕੋ੍ਰਧ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਭਰਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਗੰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ), ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਕਾਮ ਕੋ੍ਰਧ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਅੰਸ਼ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਲਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
The body-village is filled to overflowing with sexual desire and anger, which were broken into bits when I met with the Holy Saint.
ਪੂਰਬਲੇ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ (ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ) ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਿ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੁੜਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀ ਦੀ ਸਜਾਵਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।
By pre-ordained destiny, I have met with the Guru. I have entered into the realm of the Lord's Love. ||1||
ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ (ਭਾਵ, ਹਰੇਕ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀਆਂ) ਆਸਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਕੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
The fools - their bodies are bound down by desires.
ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਾਮ ਕੋ੍ਰਧ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
They are mired in sexual desire, anger and attachment;
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕਾਮ ਕੋ੍ਰਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ—ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ।
In sexual desire, anger, greed, emotional attachment and self-conceit, peace is not to be found.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੁ । ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੰੁਦਾ ਹੈ ।
So be the dust of the feet of all, O my mind, and then you shall find bliss, joy and peace. ||2||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੋਹਾਗਾ (ਕੁਠਾਲੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਏ) ਸੋਨੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਰਮ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਕਾਮ ਅਤੇ ਕੋ੍ਰਧ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਰਬਲ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Unfulfilled sexual desire and unresolved anger waste the body away,
ਉਹ (ਢਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ) ਸੋਨਾ (ਕੁਠਾਲੀ ਵਿਚ) ਸੇਕ ਸਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
as gold is dissolved by borax.
ਹੇ ਕਾਮ! ਤੂੰ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚ ਅਪੜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ।
O sexual desire, you lead the mortals to hell; you make them wander in reincarnation through countless species.
ਤੂੰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਭਰਮਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਪ ਤਪ ਤੇ ਸੁੱਧ ਆਚਰਨ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ।
You cheat the consciousness, and pervade the three worlds. You destroy meditation, penance and virtue.
