ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਕ ਹੋਰ ਅਨੋਖੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ । ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਜੇਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ
Listen to this wonder, O Siblings of Destiny: the Guru has given me this understanding.
(ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ) ਪਰਦਾ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਠਾਕੁਰ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ (ਮੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਪਰਾਈ ਈਰਖਾ ਵਿਸਰ ਗਈ ਹੈ ।੩।
I threw off the veil of illusion, when I met my Lord and Master; then, I forgot my jealousy of others. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਾਈ ਈਰਖਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਭੀ ਕਦੇ ਭਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ,
One whose heart is filled with jealousy of others, never comes to any good.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਇਤਬਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਉਜਾੜ ਵਿਚ ਖਲੋਤਾ ਕੂਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।
No one pays any attention to what he says; he is just a fool, crying out endlessly in the wilderness.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
That slave, whom God has released from the restrictions of social status
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਈਰਖਾ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ।੩।
- who can now hold him in bondage? ||3||
(ਤੁਸੀ ‘ਤਸਕਰ’ ਚੋਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਦੇ ਹੋ, ਪਰ) ‘ਤਸਕਰ’ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਤਾਤਿ (ਈਰਖਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਚੁਰਾ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ,
He alone is a thief, who is above envy,
ਜੋ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
and who uses his sense organs to chant the Lord's Name.
ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਈਰਖਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ ।
Give up your envy of others, you fool!
ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! ਇਸ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ (ਪੰਛੀਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ) ਰਾਤ-ਮਾਤ੍ਰ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਣਾ ਹੈ ।
You only live here for a night, you fool!
ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਾਈ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਈਰਖਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ । ਤੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਦਇਆ-ਪਿਆਰ ।
Day and night, you jealously slander others; in your heart, you have neither the Naam, nor compassion for all.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਾਹ ਤੂੰ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਸਕੇਂਗਾ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਦੀ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ । ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈਂ ।੪।
Without the Word of the Guru's Shabad, you will not find salvation or honor. Without the Lord's Name, you shall go to hell. ||4||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਾਈ ਈਰਖਾ ਤੇ ਪਰਾਈ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਛੱਡ ਦਿਉ ।
Abandon slander and envy of others.
(ਜੇਹੜੇ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਤੇ ਈਰਖਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਤੇ ਈਰਖਾ ਦੀ ਸੜਨ ਵਿਚ) ਪੈ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਸੜਦੇ ਹਨ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ) ਆਤਮਕ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ।
Reading and studying, they burn, and do not find tranquility.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ-ਜਨ (ਐਸੇ) ਸਾਧ-ਮਿੱਤਰ (ਹਨ), ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ (ਮਨ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।
The slaves of the Lord are our Holy companions. Meeting with them, doubt is taken away.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹੰਸ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੇ ਦੱੁਧ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੀ ਚੁੰਝ ਨਾਲ) ਚੁਣ ਕੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਸਾਧੂ-ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਈਰਖਾ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਣ ਕੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
As the swan separates the milk from the water, the Holy Saint removes the fire of egotism from the body. ||2||
(ਤਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ) ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਅੰਦਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੜਨ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਆਦਤ ਭੁੱਲ ਗਈ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I have totally forgotten my jealousy of others,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ,
since I found the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||Pause||
