ਹੇ ਬੇ-ਮੁਹਾਰ ਮਨ! ਹੇ (ਇਥੇ) ਪਰਦੇਸ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨ! (ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਇਸ ਵਤਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ । ਕਦੇ ਸੋਚ ਕਿ ਉਸ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਾਏ (ਜੇਹੜਾ) ਮਾਂ (ਵਾਂਗ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ) ।
O my wandering mind, you are like a camel - how will you meet the Lord, your Mother?
(ਹੇ ਬੇ-ਮੁਹਾਰ ਮਨ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਪੂਰੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗਲ ਨਾਲ ਆ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
When I found the Guru, by the destiny of perfect good fortune, my Beloved came and embraced me. ||1||
ਹੇ ਊਂਠ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਬੇ-ਮੁਹਾਰ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
O camel-like mind, meditate on the True Guru, the Primal Being. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਨ! ਹੇ ਬੇ-ਮੁਹਾਰ ਮਨ! (ਤੇਰੇ) ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ (ਰੱਬੀ) ਜੋਤਿ (ਵੱਸ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸਾਂਭ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ।
O my dear beloved camel-like mind, dwell upon the Divine Light within the body.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਮਾਨੋ, ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਨੌ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ (ਹੈ) ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਦਇਆਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਇਹ) ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ।੫।
The Guru has shown me the nine treasures of the Naam. The Merciful Lord has bestowed this gift. ||5||
ਹੇ ਬੇ-ਮੁਹਾਰੇ ਮਨ! (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ (ਤੇਰੇ) ਅੰਦਰ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਭਾਲਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ।
The treasure is deep within, O camel-like mind, but you wander around outside in doubt, searching for it.
(ਹੇ ਮਨ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ-ਦਾ-ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੱਜਣ-ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ-ਵੱਸਦਾ (ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ) ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੮।
Meeting the Perfect Guru, the Primal Being, you shall discover that the Lord, your Best Friend, is with you. ||8||
(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਬੇ-ਮੁਹਾਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪੇ੍ਰਮ-ਰੰਗ ਸਦਾ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਸਾਂਭ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ,
You are engrossed in pleasures, O camel-like mind; dwell upon the Lord's lasting love instead!
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ) ਦਾ (ਇਹ) ਰੰਗ ਫਿਰ ਕਦੇ ਫਿੱਕਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ, (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇਹ ਰੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਉ, ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਭਾਲ ।੯।
The color of the Lord's Love never fades away; serve the Guru, and dwell upon the Word of the Shabad. ||9||
ਹੇ ਬੇ-ਮੁਹਾਰੇ ਮਨ! ਅਸੀ ਜੀਵ ਪੰਛੀ ਹਾਂ, ਅਕਾਲ-ਪੁਰਖ ਨੇ (ਸਾਨੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਰੱੁਖ ਪੰਛੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਤ-ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ ਲਈ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਉਹ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹਰੀ (ਸਾਡਾ ਜੀਵ-ਪੰਛੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ-) ਰੁੱਖ ਹੈ ।
We are birds, O camel-like mind; the Lord, the Immortal Primal Being, is the tree.
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਮਨ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ (ਜੀਵ-ਪੰਛੀਆਂ) ਨੇ ਉਹ ਆਸਰਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ।੧੦।੨।
The Gurmukhs are very fortunate - they find it. O servant Nanak, dwell upon the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||10||2||
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਰਵਾੜ (ਦੇਸ) ਵਿਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਊਠ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਲ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ
As water is very precious in the desert, and the creeper weeds are dear to the camel,
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਤ ਵੇਲੇ (ਘੰਡੇਹੇੜੇ ਦੀ) ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਰਾਮ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
and the tune of the hunter's bell at night is enticing to the deer, so is the Lord to my mind. ||1||
