ਗੁਰੂ (ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਜੋ) ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ
The Guru is the Giver, the Guru is All-powerful. The Guru is All-pervading, contained amongst all.
ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ (ਦਾ ਰੂਪ) ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ (ਦਾ ਰੂਪ) ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ) ਡੁੱਬਦੇ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
The Guru is the Transcendent Lord, the Supreme Lord God. The Guru lifts up and saves those who are drowning. ||2||
ਕੇਹੜੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਏ ? ਗੁਰੂ (ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਜੋ) ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ
How shall I praise the Guru, the All-powerful Cause of causes?
ਉਹ ਮੱਥੇ (ਗੁਰੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦਾ) ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ
Those, upon whose foreheads the Guru has placed His Hand, remain steady and stable.
ਗੁਰੂ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਬੇਅੰਤ (ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹੈ । ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਹੀ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੰੁਦਾ ਹੈ
The Guru is All-powerful, the Guru is Infinite. By great good fortune, the Blessed Vision of His Darshan is obtained.
ਗੁਰੂ (ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਜੋ) ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਜੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ (ਸ਼ਖ਼ਸੀਅਤ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ
The Guru is Imperceptible, Immaculate and Pure. There is no other as great as the Guru.
ਗੁਰੂ (ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਜੋ) ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਸਰੂਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਜੋ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਅਪਹੰੁਚ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ
The Guru is All-powerful, the Guru is Formless; the Guru is Lofty, Inaccessible and Infinite.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਤਕ (ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਪਹੰੁਚਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ । ਕੋਈ ਭੀ (ਸਿਆਣਾ ਤੋਂ ਸਿਆਣਾ) ਬਿਆਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ।੩।
The Praise of the Guru is so sublime-what can any speaker say? ||3||
ਉਹ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
He is Awesome and All-powerful; He is forever the Great Giver.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪੀਏ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ । ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਇਹ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਰਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਸਮਝੀ ਹੈ ।੪।੬।੧੩।
As Gurmukh, chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and you shall be carried across. O Nanak, rare are those who know this state! ||4||6||13||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ
You are the Giver, You are the Architect of Destiny.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ! ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ
You are All-powerful, the Giver of Eternal Peace.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ,
God is All-powerful, Vast, Lofty and Infinite.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਮਾਨੋ, ਜਗਤ ਦੇ) ਨੌ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹੈ, (ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ ।
The Naam is overflowing with the nine treasures.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ,
The Lord is the All-powerful Cause of causes, says Nanak after deep deliberation.
ਜਿਸ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਬਨਾਣਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ (ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਆਪਣੀ ਸੱਤਿਆ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ।੨।
The creation is subject to the Creator, who sustains it by His Almighty Power. ||2||
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ) ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।
My Friend is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.
ਉਹ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ।੩।
He is the All-powerful Being, the Supreme Lord and Master. ||3||
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਸਹਾਈ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ
Those who have You on their side, O All-powerful Lord
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ (ਵਿਕਾਰ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਦਾ) ਦਾਗ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੁਹ ਸਕਦਾ ।੧।
- no black stain can stick to them. ||1||
(ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ !) ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ) ।
You are All-powerful, You are my Lord and Master.
ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ । ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
Everything comes from You; You are the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. ||1||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਸਾਡਾ ਜੀਊਣ, ਸਾਡਾ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਤੇ ਸਾਡੀ ਮੌਤ ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ,
Birth, old age and death are in His Power,
ਉਸ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਗਿਰਾਹੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ ।੩।
so remember that All-powerful Lord with each breath and morsel of food. ||3||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਤਾਕਤ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।
You are the Doer, the Cause of causes - You are everything. You are All-powerful; there is no other than You.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੂੰ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੂੰ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ—ਇਹ ਭੇਦ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ । ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ (ਤੇਰੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਦੇ) ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
You alone know Your condition and extent. They alone become Your servants, upon whose foreheads such good destiny is recorded. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ! ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਉੱਚੇ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ
You are All-powerful and Infinite, the most lofty and exalted, the Giver of peace; O God, You are the Support of the breath of life.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਥਾਂ ਦੇਈ ਰੱਖ ।੪।੧੩।੧੩੪।
Please show mercy to Nanak, O God, that he may remain in the Society of the Saints. ||4||13||134||
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਰੱਖ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੱਤਾ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ
O my mind, be conscious of the Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord, who wields all power.
ਜੋ ਤਰਸ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਜੋ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ,
He is All-powerful, the Embodiment of compassion. He is the Master of each and every heart;
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ, ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਅਪਾਰ ਹੈ,
He is the Support of the breath of life. He is the Giver of the breath of life, of mind, body and soul. He is Infinite, Inaccessible and Unfathomable.
ਜੋ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਦੀ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।
The All-powerful Lord is our Sanctuary; He is the Enticer of the mind, who banishes all sorrows.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਮੁਰਾਰੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਐਬ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
All illnesses, sufferings and pains are dispelled, by chanting the Name of the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ—ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੱਤਾ ਟਿਕਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ (ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ) ।੩।
Prays Nanak, please be merciful to me, All-powerful Lord; You are the Wielder of all power. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਇਉਂ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰ—) ਹੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਾਰੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।
I bow down, and fall to the ground in humble adoration, countless times, to the All-powerful Lord, who possesses all powers.
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਥਿੜਕਣ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ ।੧।
Please protect me, and save me from wandering, God. Reach out and give Nanak Your Hand. ||1||
ਹੇ ਗੁਪਾਲ! ਅਸੀ ਜੀਵ ਸੁਆਸ ਸੁਆਸ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ।
With each and every breath, I make mistakes.
ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਭੁੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਿਣੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ, ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ ।
You are All-powerful, endless and infinite.
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਆਪ) ਕਰਨ (ਤੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਕਰਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
God is All-powerful; He is the Cause of causes.
ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪੀ (ਸੋਹਣਾ) ਪਦਾਰਥ ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਂਭ ਲਵੋ ।
Grasp firmly the object of the Lord's Name.
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਸ਼ਰੀਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਪੰਚ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ
You are the Cause of causes, the All-powerful Lord; there is no other at all.
ਤੂੰ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ (ਪਰ) ਤੇਰੇ ਤਾਈਂ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ; ਸਭ ਜੀਵ ਜੰਤ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ
O Lord and Master, You are inaccessible and merciful. Everyone meditates on You.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਹਿਲੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਲੋਂ ਖੁੰਝੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈਣ?
Those who went astray from the Primal Being in the very beginning - where can they find refuge?
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਹ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਮਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਰਚਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ ।੨।
O Nanak, they are struck down by the All-powerful, the Cause of causes. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਹਰੀ ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਿਜੇ ਹੀ ਢਾਹ ਤੇ ਬਣਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਸਾਡੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪਰੋ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਸਾਡਾ ਸਭ ਦੱੁਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ)
Guru Nanak implanted the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within me; He is All-powerful, to create and destroy.
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ (ਭੀ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਯਾਦ ਕਰੇਂ, ਤਾਂ (ਤੇਰਾ ਭੀ) ਸਭ ਦੁੱਖ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਏ ।੧।
Remember God forever, my friend, and all your suffering will disappear. ||1||
ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਉਸ (ਹਰੀ) ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ,
I have made the One Lord my Friend; He is All-powerful to do everything.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਤਨ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਸਲੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹੈ ।੧।
My soul is a sacrifice to Him; the Lord is the treasure of my mind and body. ||1||
(ਧੜੇ ਬਣਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਆਪ ਭੀ) ਸਦਾ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ) ਟਿਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ, (ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੀ ਧੜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਠੱਗੀ-ਫ਼ਰੇਬ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Those who practice falsehood shall not last.
ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਾਥ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।੨।
I have formed my alliance with the Lord; there is no one more powerful than Him. ||2||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ! ਹੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ ਕਰਾਣ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ!
My Lord, the Cause of all causes, is All-powerful, the Giver of peace; He is my Lord, my Lord King.
(ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ) ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ (ਇਉਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਾ) ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈਂ, (ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਤਾਣੇ ਪੇਟੇ ਵਿਚ (ਸੂਤਰ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੪।੯।
Nanak lives by chanting Your Name, O Lord; You are my helper, with me, through and through. ||4||9||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਸਿਰ-ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ) ਪਰਵਾਨ ਹੰੁਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ।
Whatever pleases You is acceptable to me; that alone brings peace and ease to my mind.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕਰਾਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈਂ ।ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ।੧।
You are the Doer, the Cause of causes, All-powerful and Infinite; there is none other than You. ||1||
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀ! ਜਦੋਂ ਜੰਗਲ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰਾ ਘਾਹ-ਬੂਟ ਸੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹਰਾ ਰੁੱਖ ਬਚਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਗਤ-ਜੰਗਲ ਨੂੰ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਸਾੜ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਬਲੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਚ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਇਸ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ-ਅੱਗ ਦੀ ਸੜਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਹੈ)
The forest fire has burnt down so much of the grass; how rare are the plants which have remained green.
ਐਸੇ ਬਲੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਮੈਂ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ, ਮੈਂ ਦੱਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੌਣ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
He is so All-powerful, that I cannot even describe Him; no one can chant His Praises. ||2||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਤੇ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਦੀ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ (ਦਾ ਰਾਖਾ) ਹੈਂ, (ਜੋ ਕੁਝ) ਤੂੰ (ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਉਹ) ਮੈਂ ਖਿੜੇ-ਮੱਥੇ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।
You are my salvation and honor; You make me acceptable.
ਤੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਤਾਕਤ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
You are All-powerful, You are my strength. ||3||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਸਕਣ ਦੀ) ਤਾਕਤ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਹੈ
Seek the Shelter of the One All-powerful Lord; there is no other place of rest.
ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਬਿਖੜੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੰੁਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇਗਾ ।੨।
The vast and terrifying world-ocean is crossed over, singing continually the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਪਾਣ ਲਈ) ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚਤੁਰਾਈਆਂ ਛੱਡ, ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ ।
God is the Doer, the All-powerful Cause of causes; He Himself is the Giver of life.
ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ, (ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ) ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
So renounce all your cleverness, and meditate on God, twenty-four hours a day. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਹੰੁਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦੇਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ;
The Creator, the Cause of causes, the All-powerful Lord Himself arranges our affairs.
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ-ਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪਤੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਨੂੰ ਸਫਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
O Nanak, blessed is the soul-bride, upon whom He casts His Glance of Grace; she enshrines the Word of the Shabad in her heart. ||3||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅਥਾਹ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਜੋਗਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।
The wisdom of the all-powerful Lord and Master is incomprehensible; He is the Destroyer of the fears of all.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ, ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੁੱਬੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
Prays Nanak, I meditate on the Lord's lotus feet. The Purifier of sinners is the Naam, the Pure Name of the Immaculate Lord. ||2||
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਅਕੱਥ! ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ! ਹੇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ-ਸਰੂਪ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਸੁਣ ।
O all-powerful, indescribable, infinite and immaculate Lord Master, listen to this, my prayer.
ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਇਹ ਦਾਨ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਮੁਕਾ ਦੇ ।੧।
With palms pressed together, Nanak begs for this blessing: O Lord, let my cycle of birth and death come to an end. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਵਿਸਾਰ ।
With each and every breath, may I never forget You, O God, Almighty Lord and Master.
ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਗੁਣ ਹਨ, ਗਿਣੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ । ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਬਿਆਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ ।੩।
How can my tongue describe Your countless virtues? They are uncountable, and forever indescribable. ||3||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ।
You are the Almighty Lord, the Giver of Sanctuary, the Destroyer of pain, the King of happiness.
ਤੇਰੇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਗਾ ਕੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਭਰਮ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
Troubles depart, and fear and doubt are dispelled, singing the Glorious Praises of the Immaculate Lord God. ||1||
ਹੇ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਬੇਅੰਤ ਜੀਵ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਦਾਤਾਂ) ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦੇ ।
Those who beg of God the Great Giver - their numbers cannot be counted.
ਜਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ (ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ) ਧੁਰ ਅੰਦਰ (ਮੰਗਣ ਦੀ) ਭੁੱਖ ਹੰੁਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਦੇਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ (ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ), ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਜੋਗਾ ਹੈਂ ।੧।
You, Almighty True Lord, fulfill the desires within their hearts. ||1||
ਹੇ ਸਮਰਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹਰ ਪਲ ਹਰ ਘੜੀ (ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਾਂ ।
Remember in meditation the Almighty Lord, every moment and every instant; meditate on God in the celestial peace of Samaadhi.
ਹੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸਦਾ ਖਿੜੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਤੇਰੇ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ (ਹੀ ਸਦਾ) ਮੰਗਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ।੪।
O Merciful to the meek, perfectly blissful Lord, I beg for the dust of the feet of the Holy. ||4||
ਸਮਰੱਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਣੇ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਏ
The all-powerful Lord has shown Mercy, and my cries of suffering are ended.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਕਲੇਸ਼, ਦੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ।
My fevers, pains and diseases are gone, by the Grace of the Perfect Guru.
ਸੱਤਿਆ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ
The Glory of the all-powerful Divine Guru cannot be described.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ ਅਲੱਖ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅਭੇਵ ਹੈ ।੧੬।
The Guru is the Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord, infinite, unseen and unknowable. ||16||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ
Your slaves meditate on You; You are the Savior, the Protector Lord.
ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਹਾਕਮ ਹੈਂ, ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ।੧।
You are the Almighty Overlord of all; You bless us with Your Glance of Grace. ||17||
ਹਰੇਕ ਘਟ ਵਿਚ (ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ, ਹਰੇਕ ਦੀ) ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ
You do not lack anything; You are filling each and every heart.
ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ-ਜੋਗਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ) ਕਮਾਈ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
You are merciful and all-powerful; You Yourself cause us to serve You.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੱਕੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਤੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ
My God is all-powerful, unfathomable and utterly vast.
ਜਿਸ (ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ) ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈ ਸਕਦਾ,
The Lord and Master is close at hand - He dwells in each and every heart.
ਹੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ, ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ
You are all-powerful, at all times; You show me the Way; I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to You.
ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ, ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਦੱਸਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹਨ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Your Saints sing to You with love; I fall at their feet. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ! ਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਦਇਆ ਕਰ, ਤਰਸ ਕਰ, ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।
Show kindness and compassion, O Sustainer of the Word, Lord of the Universe; without You, I have no other.
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਅਕੱਥ! ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ! ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ, ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ, ਇਹ ਧਨ—ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ।
Almighty, sublime, infinite, perfect Lord - my soul, body, wealth and mind are Yours.
ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ! ਹੇ ਸਦਾ ਅਟੱਲ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ! ਹੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ! ਹੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ! ਹੇ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੋਂ ਪਿਆਰੇ!
He is all-powerful, perfect, eternal and unchanging, exalted, unapproachable and infinite.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ—ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆ ਮਿਲ ।੧।
Prays Nanak, bestow Your Mercy upon me, O Beloved of my soul, that I may merge with You. ||1||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਹੇ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ! ਹੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਰਾਖੇ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ! ਹੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ!
O Lord, Merciful to the meek, Sustainer of the world, O Beloved, Almighty Cause of causes.
(ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਪਪੀਹਾ (ਵਰਖਾ ਦੀ) ਬੂੰਦ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੀ ਬੂੰਦ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ) ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ਧਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੰੁਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
Nanak, the song-bird, begs for the rain-drop of the Lord's Name; meditating on the Feet of the Lord, Har, Har, he lives. ||2||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਅਸੀ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਮੰਗਤੇ ਹਾਂ ।
You are eternal and all-powerful; I am a mere beggar, Lord.
ਹੇ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ! ਮੈਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਕੱਢ ਲੈ ।
I am intoxicated with the love of Maya - save me, Lord!
ਹੇ ਰਾਮ! ਤੂੰ ਵੱਡੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮੇਰੀ ਅਕਲ ਨਿੱਕੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਹੈ (ਤੇਰੇ ਵਡੱਪਣ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ) ।
You are great and all-powerful; my understanding is so inadequate, O Lord.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਸਦਾ ਇਕ-ਸਾਰ ਹੈ ਤੂੰ ਨਾ-ਸ਼ੁਕਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ।
You cherish even the ungrateful ones; Your Glance of Grace is perfect, Lord.
ਸਰੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਬਣਾ ਭੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਅਗੇ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਮੰਗਣ ਲਈ ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਖਲੋਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ।
You are all-powerful to destroy and create, O Great Giver; with palms pressed together, all stand begging before You.
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਜੇਡਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਦਾਨੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ, ਖੰਡਾਂ, ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਾਂ, ਪਾਤਾਲਾਂ, ਪੁਰੀਆਂ, ਸਾਰੇ (ਚੌਦਾਂ ਹੀ) ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ।੩।
I see none as great as You, O Great Giver; You give in charity to the beings of all the continents, worlds, solar systems, nether regions and universes. ||3||
ਹੇ ਸਭ-ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਹੇ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਲਕ!
He is the all-powerful, safe Sanctuary, Lord and Master, Treasure of mercy, Giver of peace.
ਹੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ! ਹੇ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ ।
