ਤਾਂ ਕਠੋਰਤਾ ਤੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਕੋਈ ਸਹਿਮ ਤੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ।
then one's cruel and violent instincts and egotism depart, and skepticism and sorrow are taken away.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਟਿਕਦੀ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਣ ਦਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਅਵਸਰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
The Lord abides within the mind of the Gurmukh, who merges in the Lord's Union, through the Guru. ||2||
ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਸ਼ੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਗੁਰੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਸਰਧਾ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਏ,
There is no doubt at all about this, but those who love Him are very rare.
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! (ਜਿਸ ਸਿੱਖ ਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਸਿੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਜੋਤਿ ਇੱਕ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸਰੀਰ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਦੋ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।੪।੧੧।੪੪।
O Nanak, the One Light has two forms; through the Shabad, union is attained. ||4||11||44||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਹੀ) ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ
O Siblings of Destiny, peace is found in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਉਸ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਦਾ) ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
If the Supreme Lord, the Architect of Destiny, writes such an order, then anguish and anxiety are erased. ||1||Pause||
(ਹੇ ਮਨ !) ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਬਣਾ (ਇਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਕੋਈ ਸਹਮ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ
Let the Lord's Lotus Feet be your Boat, so that pain and skepticism shall not touch you.
(ਪਰ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ) ਜਿਸ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Meeting with the Perfect Guru, by great good fortune, meditate on God twenty-four hours a day.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਹਮ ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, skepticism and suffering are dispelled.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਨ ਮਨੋਰਥ) ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ।੮।੩੦।੩੧।
O Nanak, True is the Greatness of the Name. Believing in the Name, peace is obtained. ||8||30||31||
(ਜਗਤ ਦੇ) ਅੰਦਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ (ਬਲ ਰਹੀ) ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਹ ਤੇ ਭੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਰੱਜਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।
The fire of desire is deep within; unsatisfied, people remain hungry and thirsty.
ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਹੈ ਹੀ ਤੌਖ਼ਲਾ (ਰੂਪ), (ਇਸ ਤੌਖ਼ਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਜੀਵ) ਜੰਮਦਾ ਮਰਦਾ ਤੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
This world is an illusion; it dies and it is re-born-it comes and it goes in reincarnation.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਚੇਤੇ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
Those whose hearts are filled with their Lord and Master
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ) ਕੋਈ ਸਹਮ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ।੨।
- no anxiety can affect them. ||2||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾਇਆਂ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ) ਸਹਮ-ਦੁੱਖ (ਆਪਣਾ) ਜ਼ੋਰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹ
Forgetting the Lord, superstition and sorrow shall overtake you.
(ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨੱਠ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Meditating on the Naam, doubt and fear shall depart. ||1||Pause||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋੜ ਦਿੱਤੇ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਸਹਮ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ।
My anxiety is over. The Guru has cut away my bonds, and I have found eternal peace.
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵਾਪਰਨਾ ਸੀ ਉਹੀ ਵਰਤੇਗਾ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਕੋਈ ਸੁਖ ਜਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਵਿਖਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਸਕਦਾ ।੨।
Whatever shall be, shall be in the end; so where can pain and pleasure be seen? ||2||
(ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
My doubt and fear have been taken away, and I have been made pure, since my ego was conquered.
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਦਾ ਸਹਮ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
My fear of birth and death has been abolished, beholding Your Blessed Vision in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||3||
(ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਬੀਤਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕਦੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਕਦੇ ਗ਼ਮੀ ਕਦੇ ਸਹਮ—ਇਹ ਚੱਕਰ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ।
In pleasure and pain and worldly cynicism, they pass their lives acting in ego.
ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਤੇ (ਤੀਰਥ-ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਆਦਿਕ) ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਜਤਨ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
They do not know the One who created them; they think up all sorts of schemes and plans.
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ) ਸਹਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ।
My pain is gone, and my sorrows have departed, since I took to the Sanctuary of the Lord, my King.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚਿਤਵੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਫਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲਏ ।੧੭।
I have obtained the fruits of my mind's desires, O Nanak, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||17||
:—(ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਦੋਖੀ) ਸਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਲਈ ਵਿਓਂਤਾਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅਗਲਾ (ਕਮਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ) ਭੀ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
He continually chases after Maya and wealth, but even his own wealth flies away.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਝੋਰਾ ਤੇ ਸਾੜਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਖੱਟਣਾ ਕੀਹ ਤੇ ਖਾਣਾ ਕੀਹ? (ਭਾਵ, ਉਹ ਨਾ ਕੁਝ ਖੱਟ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਖੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਲੈ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ)
What shall he earn, and what shall he eat? Within his heart, there is only cynicism and pain.
ਹੇ ਕਮਲੇ ਮਨ! ਬਾਂਦਰ ਨੇ ਹੱਥ ਖਿਲਾਰ ਕੇ ਦਾਣਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਮੁੱਠ ਭਰ ਲਈ
The monkey stretches out its hand, O crazy mind, and takes a handful of corn;
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਿਮ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਕੈਦ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਨਿਕਲੇ । (ਉਸ ਲਾਲਚ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੁਣ) ਹਰੇਕ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਬੂਹੇ ਤੇ ਨੱਚਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
now unable to escape, O crazy mind, it is made to dance door to door. ||2||
ਹੇ ਮਾਂ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸੜਨ ਮਿਟ ਗਈ ਹੈ ।
My burning desires are quenched, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, O mother.
ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਤੇ ਸਹਮ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ । ਆਤਮਕ ਠੰਡ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ । ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ, ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਮਗਨ ਹਾਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
The fever of doubt has been totally eliminated; meeting the Guru, I am cooled and soothed, with intuitive ease. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਸੰੁਦਰੀ! ਹੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਚਾਹਵਾਨ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੰੁਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬਣ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ
Listen, O beautiful soul-bride: By the Word of the Holy Saint, you shall be saved.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਤੇਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਇਗਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਇਗੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਨੰਦ ਮਾਣੇਂਗੀ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Your pain, hunger and doubt shall vanish, and you shall obtain peace, O happy soul-bride. ||1||Pause||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ (ਮਾਇਆ ਡੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ ਮੇਰਾ) ਆਪ ਸਹਾਈ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ।
By the Grace of the Saints, the Lord has shown His Mercy to me; He Himself is my Help and Support.
ਹੁਣ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਨਾਨਕ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ) ਸਹਮ ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਸਦਾ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੩੧।
Nanak ever sings the Praises of the Lord, the treasure of excellence; his doubts and pains are eliminated. ||2||31||
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ
How can coming and going, the cycle of reincarnation be ended? And how can one meet the Lord?
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਭਾਰਾ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਜਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ) ਨਿੱਤ ਸਹਮ (ਖਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ) ਹੈ ।੧।
The pain of birth and death is so great, in constant skepticism and duality. ||1||
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾਨੀ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ (ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਲੋੜਵੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ) ਕੁਝ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ;
In the minds of the virtuous, contentment is produced, thinking about their giving.
(ਪਰ ਲੋੜਵੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਦੇ ਦੇ ਕੇ (ਉਹ ਅੰਦਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ) ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਗੁਣਾ ਵਧੀਕ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ (ਬਾਹਰ) ਜਗਤ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਨ ਦੀ) ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
They give and give, but ask a thousand-fold more, and hope that the world will honor them.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤੌਖਲਾ ਤੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਝੰਬੇਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਖਪਾਣਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਆਪ ਸਹੇੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ।
Within the self is the pain of doubt; engrossed in worldly affairs, they are killing themselves.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਮੋਹ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ (ਇਸ ਗ਼ਫ਼ਲਿਤ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਕਦੇ ਜਾਗਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ
Asleep in the love of duality, they never wake up; they are in love with, and attached to Maya.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਰਲਾ ਤੌਖਲਾ ਕਦੇ ਮਿਟਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਮਾਨੋ, ਮੈਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਸੜਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
His doubts do not leave him at all, and he rots away in manure.
ਪਰ, ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਸੁਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
One, unto whom my Lord Master shows His Mercy, listens to the Guru's Teachings.
(ਜਿਸ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ (ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਘਬਰਾਹਟ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਘੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਨੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਗੜਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ) ।
Meeting the True Guru, doubt is dispelled.
(ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸੂਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ (ਦੁੱਖ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ, (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ।੩।
Who else should I worship? I can see no other. ||3||
ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਮਨ (ਦੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਭੰਨ ਕੇ (ਨਵੇਂ ਸਿਰੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ) ਨਹੀਂ ਘੜਦਾ, (ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ) (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ) ਗੋਦੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਰਹੇ,
Through the fear of the True Guru, he has not changed and reformed himself, so that he might merge in the lap of God.
ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਭੀ ਉਸਦੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੰੁਦੀ, ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈਣ ਤੋਂ) ਬਿਨਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Night and day, his doubts never stop; without the Word of the Shabad, he suffers in pain.
(ਏਥੇ) ਕਦੇ (ਇਸ ਧਨ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ) ਕੋਈ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਤੇ (ਅੱਗੇ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ) ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਗੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਠਾਣੀ ਪੈਂਦੀ ।
One who has no skepticism at all never suffers humiliation.
(ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਹੀ (ਇਹ ਧਨ) ਲੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ ।
O Nanak, the Gurmukh obtains the Name of the Lord, when the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace. ||2||
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਅਤੇ (ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਹਿਮ ਦੂਰ ਕਰੇਂ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਕਿ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ।
The pain and hunger of the world are Your making; dispel this doubt.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ
Prays Nanak, ones skepticism is taken away, when he understands the Guru's wisdom.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਵਧਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਭੀ (ਨਿਰਾ) ਸਹਿਮ (ਦਾ ਘਰ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ) ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਗਵਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The evil within increases greatly, in this world of doubt; without the Name, one's honor is lost.
Reading and studying, the religious scholars argue and debate; but without understanding, there is no peace.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਖੋਜ ਕੇ ਲੱਭ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਦਾ ਦੁਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ
O mind, search for such a True Guru, by serving whom the pains of birth and death are dispelled.
ਕਦੇ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤੇ (ਉਸ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਸੜ ਜਾਏ
Doubt shall never afflict you, and your ego shall be burnt away through the Word of the Shabad.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਪੈਂਚਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਪੈ ਰਿਹਾ) ਸਹਿਮ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ।
Meeting with the council, my doubts were not dispelled.
ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਭੀ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦੀ (ਕਿ ਇਹ ਵੈਰੀ ਤੰਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਗੇ)
The chiefs did not give me satisfaction.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ ਨੂੰ) ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ, ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਸਹਿਮ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ।੧।
I found the Guru, the ocean of peace, and all my doubts were dispelled. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਤੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ;
The disease of doubt does not depart, and they find only pain and more pain.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ-ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਲਏ ਤਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
O Nanak, if the Gracious Lord forgives, then one is united in Union with the Word of the Shabad. ||1||
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਤੌਖ਼ਲਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ;
The self-willed manmukh remains deluded by his doubts.
ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ (ਸੁਖ ਦੀ) ਨੀਂਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੌਂਦਾ
He is filled with anxiety, and he cannot even sleep.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਭੁਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ
They are blessed with peace, and their pains are forgotten.
ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਵਿਚ ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਸ਼ੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
He will undoubtedly, certainly save them. ||1||
ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਸਹਿਮ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲ ਦੌੜਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਇਕ) ਚਸ਼ਮਾ ਚੱਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Meeting with the True Guru, doubt is dispelled, and the wandering mind is restrained.
ਅਡੋਲ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਦੀ ਰੌ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ; ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।
Nectar rains down, celestial music resounds, and deep within, wisdom is obtained.
ਉਸ ਬਿਦਰ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਜੀ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਠਹਿਰੇ ਸਨ ।੧।
Go and ask Bidar, the son of a maid; Krishna himself stayed in his house. ||1||
ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣੋ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਕਰੋ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਸਹਿਮ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਭੁੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Listen, O humble Siblings of Destiny, to the Unspoken Speech of the Lord; it removes all anxiety, pain and hunger. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰਖ ਵੇਖੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਸ਼ੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ।
I tasted Maya and renounced it, and now, I have no doubts.
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਉਹ ਭੈੜੇ ਅਸਲੇ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਅਖਵਾਂਦਾ ।
One whose father is known, cannot be illegitimate.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ—ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਸ਼ੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ।
He preserves the honor of those who seek His Sanctuary; there is no doubt about this at all.
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਇਸ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਬੀਜੋ । ਇਹ ਮੌਕਾ ਬੜੀ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
In the field of actions and karma, plant the Lord's Name; this opportunity is so difficult to obtain! ||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
Without the Name of the Lord, you shall only find pain.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਾਰਗ ਦੀ) ਇਹ ਡੰੂਘੀ ਗੱਲ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਸਹਿਮ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Without devotional worship, doubt is not dispelled; the Guru has revealed this secret. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ—(ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ! ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਣ ਨਾਲ) ਮੇਰੀ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਸੇਜ ਸਜ ਗਈ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ) ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹਾਂ (ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਰੇਕ ਸਹਿਮ ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ।
My bed is beautiful; gazing upon Him, I am fascinated, and all my doubts and pains are dispelled.
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ।੫।੩।
Prays Nanak, my hopes are fulfilled; my Lord and Master is unlimited. ||5||1||3||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ—ਹੇ ਜੀਵ! ਜਿਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬਾਹਰਲੀ (ਦਿੱਸਦੀ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਖਿੱਚ ਪਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ,
There is doubt within me, and Maya is outside; it hits me in the eyes like an arrow.
ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਹਜ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇਗਾ ਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੀ ਰਹੇਂਗਾ ।੪।੨।
Prays Nanak, the slave of the Lord's slaves: such a mortal suffers terribly. ||4||2||
ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਅਸ਼ੁਭ ਮੁਹੂਰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੇਖੇ ਗਿਣਦੇ ਰਹੀਏ ਤਿਉਂ ਤਿਉਂ ਜਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਿਮ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਲੱਗਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Making his calculations, cynicism and suffering afflict his soul.
ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Seeking the Sanctuary of the Guru, peace is found.
ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਜੀਵ ਜਦੋਂ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇ ਧਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Seeing peace and wealth come to him, the faithless cynic become proud in his mind.
ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇ ਧਨ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਮੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਇਹੀ ਸਹਿਮ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਖਾਈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੭।
But He who owns this body and wealth, takes them back again, and then the mortal feels anxiety and pain deep within. ||7||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਅਸਲ) ਜੋਗੀ ਅਖਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
One who understands the Hukam of the Lord's Command is called a Yogi; he links his consciousness to the One Lord.
(ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਸਹਿਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਢੰਗ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੬।
His cynicism is dispelled, and he becomes immaculately pure; this is how he finds the Way of Yoga. ||6||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਦਾ ਸਹਿਮ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਫਿਰ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਤੇ (ਕਿਸੇ ਜੂਨ ਵਿਚ) ਨਹੀਂ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ।੭।
The fear of birth and death is taken away; I shall never wander again. ||7||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਇਹ ਮਨ ਸਭ ਰਸਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੇ੍ਰਸ਼ਟ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਪੀ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੮।
This mind is imbued with the sublime elixir of the Naam; drinking in the Ambrosial Nectar, it is satisfied. ||8||
(ਇਹ) ਤੌਖ਼ਲਾ-ਸਹਿਮ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, (ਤੇ,) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਜਾਪਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ।
By religious rituals, intuitive poise is not found; without intuitive poise, skepticism does not depart.
ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਬੰਦੇ (ਅਜੇਹੇ) ਕਰਮ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹਾਰ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਤੌਖ਼ਲਾ-ਸਹਿਮ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ।
Skepticism does not depart by contrived actions; everybody is tired of performing these rituals.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੋ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖੋ, (ਜੇ) ਮਨ (ਧੋਣਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਧੋਵੋ ।
Wash your mind by attaching it to the Shabad, and keep your consciousness focused on the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ—ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਤੌਖ਼ਲਾ-ਸਹਿਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧੮।
Says Nanak, by Guru's Grace, intuitive poise is produced, and this skepticism is dispelled. ||18||
ਇਹ ਜੋ (ਸਂਹਸਿਆਂ ਦਾ) ਮੂਲ ਹਉਮੈ ਹੈ (ਇਹ ਹਉਮੈ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ, ਸੋ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲਾ) “ਸਹਸਾ” (ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
But this egotism is the seed of skepticism; it has been uprooted.
ਨਾਹ ਉਹ ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਬੀਜ ਬੀਜਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ (ਓਥੇ ‘ਸਹਸਾ’) ਉੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ । ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । (ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ।
It is not planted there, and it does not sprout; whatever God grants us, we eat.
ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਧਣਖ (ਬਾਣ) ਕਸਦੀ ਹੈ
Tear down skepticism and dispel your doubt;
(ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਸਹਿਮ-ਤੌਖ਼ਲਾ ਮੁਕਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ,
with your intuition, draw the bow of the Praise of the Lord.
ਜਿਤਨਾ ਹੀ ਮੋਹ ਤੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਤਨਾ ਹੀ ਵਧੀਕ ‘ਮੇਰੀ (ਮਾਇਆ) ਮੇਰੀ (ਮਾਇਆ)’ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਤਨਾ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਹ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
The more attachment and egotism delude and confuse him, the more he cries out, "Mine, mine!", and the more he loses out.
ਆਖ਼ਰ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਧਨ, (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਹਿਮ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਤਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ ਪਛੁਤਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਪਰ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਛੁਤਾਇਆਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਦਾ) ਇਸ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਉਤੇ ਫਿਟਕਾਰ ਹੀ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੬।
His body and wealth pass away, and he is torn by skepticism and cynicism; in the end, he regrets and repents, when the dust falls on his face. ||6||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਗਤ (ਦੇ ਧੰਧਿਆਂ) ਵਿਚ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਨ ਕੋਈ) ਸਹਮ ਨੱਪੀ ਹੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ;
Within the world, one is afflicted by skepticism;
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਕੱਥ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁੱਝਦੀ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ।
he does not know the imperceptible Unspoken Speech of the Lord.
ਜਿਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੋਚਾਂ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਰਹੀਏ ਜਿੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਸਹਮ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Calculating its account, the soul becomes anxious.
ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਝਾਕ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਗੁਣੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ ਵਿਚ—ਸੁਖ ਕਿਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ।
How can one find peace, through duality and the three gunas - the three qualities?
(ਇਸ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ਼ ਨੂੰ) ਸਮਝੋ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਮੋਹ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਕਰੋ ।
Only a few are spiritually wise enough to understand and know this.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਲੋਭ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਹੇਠ ਨਿੱਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ ਧੰਧਾ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀਆਂ) ਆਸਾਂ ਕਾਮਨਾਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਹਮ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਚੰਬੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧੬।
In hope and desire, egotism and skepticism, the greedy man acts falsely. ||16||
ਤੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਤਖ਼ਤ ਉਤੇ ਬੈਠਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਨਾਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲ ਡੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ।
Following the Guru's Teachings, he subdues the five demons, and becomes the Lord's foot soldier.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਦਿ ਤੋਂ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਭੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹੇਗਾ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਹਮ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧੪।
He has existed from the very beginning of time and throughout the ages; He exists here and now, and will always exist. Meditating on Him, skepticism and doubt are dispelled. ||14||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਨ ਦੇ ਮੁਰੀਦ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਕੋਈ ਨ ਕੋਈ) ਸਹਮ (ਖਾਈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ
The self-willed manmukh is cynical; he doesn't understand.
ਉਹ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ) ਜਨਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਗਵਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
He dies and dies again, only to be reborn, and loses his life uselessly again.
ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਲੇਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਟਾਣ-ਜੋਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।
No one can erase what You have written.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, (ਤੇ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਸਹਮ ਕੋਈ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ।੧੫।
You Yourself bless the Gurmukh with the Naam, who is no longer skeptical, and is not held to account. ||15||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਗਿਣਤੀਆਂ ਗਿਣਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ (ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
One who calculates his accounts, burns in the world.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਸਹਮ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ।
His skepticism and corruption are never dispelled.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ) ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ (ਗੁਰ-) ਬਾਣੀ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Rare is that person who enshrines the Immaculate Bani of the Guru's Word within his mind.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਸਹਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
By Guru's Grace, his skepticism is removed.
ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ ਬਨਵਾਲੀ ਤੇ ਸੁਦਰਸ਼ਨ-ਚੱਕ੍ਰ-ਧਾਰੀ ।
Adorned with flowers, holding the chakra in Your hand, Your form is incomparably beautiful.
ਤੂੰ ਬੇ-ਮਿਸਾਲ ਸਰੂਪ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ । ਤੇਰੇ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਨੇਤਰ ਹਨ, ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਮੂਰਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ । ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਹੈਂ, ਸਾਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਮੰਗਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ।੪।
You have thousands of eyes, and thousands of forms. You alone are the Giver, and all are beggars of You. ||4||
ਕਦੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਠੰਢ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ, ਕਦੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ,
It never finds calm tranquility, and peace never comes to dwell in its mind.
ਕਦੇ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਤੌਖ਼ਲਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਸਦਾ ਸੋਚਾਂ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ;
It is always plagued by anxiety, and its cynicism never departs.
ਹੇ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਏ! ਇਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਹੋਣ ਤੇ ਯਕੀਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਹੀ) ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ) ਉਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ।
This is the way to meet your Husband Lord. Blessed is the soul-bride who is loved by her Husband Lord.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਵਿਚਾਰਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਾਤਿ ਵਰਨ ਕੁਲ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਬਾਰੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਭਰਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
Social class and status, race, ancestry and skepticism are eliminated, following the Guru's Teachings and contemplating the Word of the Shabad. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
They sleep in peace, and intuitively merge into the Lord. The Guru takes away their cynicism and doubt.
ਉਹ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਉਹੀ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਨ-ਮੰਗੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
Whatever they wish for, the Lord does; they obtain the fruits of their minds' desires. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ) ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਸਹਮ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਕਾ-ਨਕ ਭਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
His Mantra drives out cynicism, and totally fills the empty one.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੇ ।੨।
Those who obey the Order of the Lord's slaves, do not enter into the womb of reincarnation ever again. ||2||
(ਗੁਰ ਸਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਹਿਮ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ
Now I am rid of my skepticism and sorrow.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਦੋਂ ਦਾ) ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਹਾਂ, (ਮੈਂ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਬੂ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ) ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀਲੇ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I have abandoned and forsaken all other efforts, and come to the Sanctuary of the True Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਦਾ) ਸਹਿਮ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ।
My Guru has rid me of my cynicism.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ (ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ) ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I am a sacrifice to that Guru; I am devoted to Him, forever and ever. ||1||Pause||
ਇਸ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਟਾ ਇਹ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਇਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਗੁਣੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਾ ਰਖਿਆ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਨ (ਦੇ ਗੇੜ) ਦਾ ਸਹਿਮ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ ।
This three-phased Maya has deluded the whole world into cynicism about death and birth.
ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਕੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ (ਹਰੇਕ) ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
By Guru's Grace, know the One Lord, and the anxiety of your mind will be allayed. ||2||
ਖ਼ਲਾ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੁੰਦਾ, ਸਾਰੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
He is never cynical; all anxiety has been taken out from within him.
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਵਰਤ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਇਤਰਾਜ਼ (ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਉੱਠਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ।
Whatever happens, happens naturally; no one has any say about it.
ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੇਤਾ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਗੁਮਰ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਈ; ਜੋ ਭੋਗ ਹੁਣ ਤਾਈਂ ਤੂੰ ਭੋਗੇ ਹਨ ।
Kabeer, let me remind you of this. Do not be skeptical or cynical.
ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਂਇਆਂ ਇਤਨੀ ਕੁ ਹੀ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੱਟੀ ਤੋਂ ਸੌਦਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਝੂੰਗੇ ਵਜੋਂ) ਰਤਾ ਕੁ ਗੁੜ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਖਾ ਲਏਂ ।੪੪।
Those pleasures which you enjoyed so much in the past - now you must eat their fruits. ||44||
