(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ
The One is the Knower of all beings; He alone is our Savior.
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਰੱਖ, ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ
The One is the Support of the mind; the One is the Support of the breath of life.
(ਹੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, (ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਮੇਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ
I take the Support of the Lord's Lotus Feet; there is no other place of rest for me.
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਓਟ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ (ਦਿੱਤੇ) ਬਲ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ
I lean upon You as my Support, O Supreme Lord God. I exist only by Your Power.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਹਰੇਕ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਏ
and when all support has given way, and all hope has been lost
ਜੇ ਉਸ (ਬਿਪਤਾ-ਮਾਰੇ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਯਾਦ) ਆ ਜਾਏ, ਤਾ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵਾਲ ਭੀ ਵਿੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ।੧।
-if you then come to remember the Supreme Lord God, even the hot wind shall not touch you. ||1||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਿਆ, ਤਰਸ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਮੈਂ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ
Death's noose and its mighty entanglements have vanished, along with the fear of death.
ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਅਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਈਆਂ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਜੰਜਾਲ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਏ, ਜਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ।੧।
I have come to the Sanctuary of the Merciful Lord, the Destroyer of pain; I am holding tight to the Support of His feet. ||1||
ਮੈਂ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਪਾਸਾ (ਕਦੇ ਭੀ) ਨਾਹ ਛੱਡਾਂਗੀ ।
I shall never leave my Husband Lord's side.
ਮੇਰਾ ਉਹ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਇਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
My Beloved Lover is always and forever beautiful. He is my hope and inspiration. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ (ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ) ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ) ਹੈ, ਸੇਵਕ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the Support of the humble servant who seeks God's Sanctuary.
ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
In their minds, the Saints take the Support of the Transcendent Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! (ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁੱਝਦਾ ।
The Lord is the Hope and Support of His devotees; there is nowhere else for them to go.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ (ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਤਾਣ ਹੈ, ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਵਾਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਧਨ ਹੈ ।੧।
O God, Your Name is my power, realm, relatives and riches. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
God Himself has given me the Support of His Lotus Feet.
ਉਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਤਾਪ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
God's humble servants seek His Sanctuary; they are respected and famous forever. ||1||
ਹੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ (ਹੀ) ਸਾਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈਂ । ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਤੇਰੇ) ਹੀ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ।
I take the Support of Your Lotus Feet, O God, Primal Lord, treasure of virtue.
(ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਜਦ ਤਕ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਹ (ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ), ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I shall meditate in remembrance on the Praises of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, as long as there is breath in my body. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਹੀ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹਨ ਆਸਰਾ ਹਨ ।
His lotus feet are the support and anchor of His humble servants.
ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਹੀ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਧਨ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੈ ਭੁਇਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਲਕੀ ਹੈ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ ।
He takes the Naam, the Name of the Infinite Lord, as his wealth, property and treasure.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਸਚਿਤ ਕਰਮ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the Destroyer of sins, the only deed of redemption. The Naam drives out the fear of the Messenger of Death.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ—(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੀ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ) ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ ।੨।
Prays Nanak, the support of His lotus feet is the capital of His humble servant. ||2||
