ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ! ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਬਹੁਤ (ਜ਼ੋਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਹੈ; ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਆਉਣਾ ਹੈ, ਮੌਤ ਆਉਣੀ ਹੈ
The mind is totally attached to Maya; the mortal has forgotten his fear of old age and death.
ਹੇ ਖੋਟੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਇਉਂ ਖਿੜਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਉਲ ਫੁੱਲ (ਸੂਰਜ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ), ਤੂੰ ਪਰਾਏ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ।੧।
Gazing upon his family, he blossoms forth like the lotus flower; the deceitful person watches and covets the homes of others. ||1||
ਬੁਢੇਪਾ, ਮੌਤ, ਸਿਰ-ਪੀੜ, ਤਾਪ ਆਦਿਕ ਹਰੇਕ (ਦੁਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ । ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਲਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਰੋਗ (ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਲੱਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ।
Old age, death, fever, poisons and snakes - everything is in the Hands of the Lord. Nothing can touch anyone without the Lord's Order.
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਅਖ਼ੀਰਲੇ ਸਮੇ (ਜਮ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਛੁਡਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਰਹੋ ।੪।੭।੧੩।੫੧।
Within your conscious mind, O servant Nanak, meditate forever on the Name of the Lord, who shall deliver you in the end. ||4||7||13||51||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਸਾਡਾ ਜੀਊਣ, ਸਾਡਾ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਤੇ ਸਾਡੀ ਮੌਤ ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ,
Birth, old age and death are in His Power,
ਉਸ ਸਭ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਗਿਰਾਹੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ ।੩।
so remember that All-powerful Lord with each breath and morsel of food. ||3||
ਉਸ ਜੋਗੀ ਦਾ ਬੁਢੇਪੇ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਸਹਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜੋਗੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Old age, death and pride are conquered.
ਉਹ ਆਪ ਭੀ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
They swim across, and save their ancestors as well. ||3||
ਇਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦਾ ਘੁਟ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
How rare are those who drink in the pure essence of the Lord's Love.
(ਜੋ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਢੇਪੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਸਹਿਮ ਮੁੜ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦਾ ।੬।
They shall never again suffer the pains of old age and death. ||6||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਚਾਹੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਜੁਗ ਬੀਤ ਜਾਣ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਫਲ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਘਟਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ।
Even though numerous ages may pass, O Lord Master, their blessings are not exhausted.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਈ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਹ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਮੌਤ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੇ ।
They do not age, they do not die and fall into hell, if they meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਆਦਿਕ) ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਸਾਰਾ ਭੁਲ ਜਾਏ,
Serve such a True Guru, O my mind, that by serving Him, God's Love may be produced, and all others may be forgotten.
(ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਚਿੱਤ ਸਦਾ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹੇ, ਅਤੇ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਦਰਜਾ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਬੁਢੇਪੇ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਾਹ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ (ਜੋ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਕਦੇ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਾਹ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ) ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Your consciousness shall remain attached to the Lord; there shall be no fear of old age, and the supreme status shall be obtained. ||1||Pause||
ਜੋ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ-ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ-ਰੂਪ ਹੈ
the embodiment of ambrosial nectar and reality.
ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ, ਬੁਢੇਪਾ, ਚਿੰਤਾ, ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Remembering Him in meditation, the fear of birth, old age and death will not trouble you. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਸਦਾ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੋ, ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੋ ।
So eat the Ambrosial Name of the Lord as your food; put it into your mouth at all times.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਸਦਾ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੋ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ) ਨਾਹ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਆਵੇਗਾ ਨਾ ਮੌਤ ਆਵੇਗੀ, ਹਰੇਕ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ ।੩।
The pains of old age and death shall all depart, when you constantly sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. ||3||
ਵੇਖ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਠੱਗੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ) ਸਹਿਜੇ ਸਹਿਜੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
Moment by moment, the body is wearing away, and old age is asserting itself.
ਤਦੋਂ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਠੱਗੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ) ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਬੁੱਕ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਣਾ ।੨।
And then, when you are old, no one shall pour water into your cup. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਰੋਗ, ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਫ਼ਿਕਰ, ਬੁਢੇਪਾ, ਮੌਤ (—ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਮ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦੇ
Disease, sorrow, pain, old age and death do not even approach the humble servant of the Lord.
ਉਹ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਡਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਨਿਡਰ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪਤੀਜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੧।
They remain fearless, in the Love of the One Lord; O Nanak, they have surrendered their minds to the Lord. ||2||1||
(ਤੇਰੀਆਂ) ਅੱਖਾਂ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੋ ਚੁਕੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਕੰਨ ਭੀ (ਹੁਣ) ਸੁਣਨੋਂ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਸੁਹਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ (ਭੀ) ਰਹਿ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ;
My eyes are exhausted, and my ears are tired of hearing; my beautiful body is exhausted.
ਬੁਢੇਪੇ ਨੇ ਆ ਸੱਦ ਮਾਰੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਤੇਰੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਅਕਲ ਭੀ (ਠੀਕ) ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੀ, ਪਰ (ਤੇਰੀ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖਿੱਚ (ਅਜੇ ਤਕ) ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕੀ ।੧।
Driven forward by old age, all my senses are exhausted; only my attachment to Maya is not exhausted. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਅਟੱਲ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪੀ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Old age and death cannot touch him, and he shall not suffer pain again.
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਆਤਮਕ ਉੱਚਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ, ਕਦੇ ਮੌਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਰ ਕਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ।੨।
Drinking in the Ambrosial Nectar, he is satisfied; the Guru makes him immortal. ||2||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
Forever and ever, chant the Name of God.
(ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਅਜੇਹੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ) ਬੁਢੇਪਾ, ਮੌਤ ਜਾਂ ਦੁੱਖ ਕੁੱਝ ਭੀ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ । ਅਗਾਂਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
The pains of old age and death shall not afflict you, and in the Court of the Lord hereafter, your affairs shall be perfectly resolved. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਬਾਲਕ ਹੋਵੇ, ਬੁੱਢਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਚਾਹੇ ਜੁਆਨ ਹੋਵੇ, ਮੌਤ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।
The children, the young and the old, O Siblings of Destiny, will be taken away by the Messenger of Death.
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਤਾਂ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਚੂਹਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ-ਰੂਪ ਬਿੱਲਾ ਖਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
The Lord has made the poor man a mouse, and the cat of Death is eating him up. ||1||
ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜੁਆਨੀ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਹੁਣ ਤਕ ਕੋਈ ਚੰਗਾ ਕੰੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ।
Youth and old age - my entire life has passed, but I haven't done any good.
ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਜਿੰਦ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੌਡੀ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
This priceless soul has been treated as if if were worth no more than a shell. ||3||
ਸੁਫ਼ਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਵੀਰਜ ਨੂੰ ਡਿੱਗਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਸੁਫ਼ਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਮ-ਵੱਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣ ਦੇਂਦਾ);
He does not waste his energy in wet dreams.
ਉਸ ਨਾਸਤਕ ਨੂੰ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ) ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੋਂਹਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ) ।
Such a Paakhandi does not grow old or die.
ਜੀਵਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਖਿੜਾਉ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਹੈ,
The mind, the master of the breath, abides in the state of supreme bliss.
ਇਸ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਤੇ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਪੋੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
There is no death, no re-birth, and no aging for me now. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ । ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Injecting the poison of egotism, the world was created; with the Shabad enshrined within, the poison is eliminated.
(ਉਹ ਇਕ ਐਸੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ) ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Old age cannot torment one who remains lovingly absorbed in the True Lord.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Through the True Word of the Shabad, serve the True Guru.
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਹ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਤੱਕ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਨਾਹ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕਦੇ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਉਥੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਉਣ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੮।
Old age and death cannot even touch one who is in harmony with the True Lord. ||8||
ਜਦੋਂ ਤਕ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ-ਰੂਪ ਰੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਗਿਆ,
As long as the disease of old age has not come to the body,
ਜਦ ਤਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਪਕੜਿਆ,
and as long as death has not come and seized the body,
ਅਸਲ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਜੇ, ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤ ਨੂੰ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਕਰੇ, ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਕਾਮ ਦੀ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਹ ਆਉਣ ਦੇਵੇ ।
He does not lose his semen, even in his dreams;
ਅਜਿਹੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਢੇਪੇ ਤੇ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ।੨।
for such a Qazi, there is no old age or death. ||2||
(ਜਦੋਂ) ਇਹ ਜੀਵ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ,
This soul is lovingly attuned to the Lord's Name.
ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ (ਬੁਢੇਪੇ ਦਾ ਡਰ) ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੌਤ (ਦਾ ਸਹਿਮ) ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
It is saved from old age and death, and its doubt runs away. ||1||Pause||
ਜੇ ਖਸਮ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਹ ਟੁੱਟੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਜੁਆਨੀ ਦੇ (ਗੁਜ਼ਰ) ਜਾਣ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।
I am not afraid of losing my youth, as long as I do not lose the Love of my Husband Lord.
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ) ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਕਿਤਨੇ ਹੀ ਜੋਬਨ ਕੁਮਲਾ ਕੇ ਸੁੱਕ ਗਏ ।੩੪।
Fareed, so many youths, without His Love, have dried up and withered away. ||34||
ਤੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਦਸੀਂ ਪਾਸੀਂ ਦੌੜਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਪਰਾਇਆ ਧਨ ਖੋਂਹਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਨੇ ਠੱਗ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ।
He runs around in the ten directions, for the sake of the great poison of corruption. He steals the wealth of others, and in the end, he is destroyed by his own ignorance.
(ਤੇਰੀ) ਜੁਆਨੀ ਬੀਤ ਗਈ ਹੈ; ਬੁਢੇਪੇ-ਰੂਪ ਰੋਗ ਨੇ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਆ ਘੇਰਿਆ ਹੈ; (ਤੂੰ ਅਜੇਹੀ) ਮੌਤੇ ਮੁਇਆ ਹੈਂ (ਜਿੱਥੇ) ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜਮਦੂਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਡੰਨ ਭਰਨਾ ਪਏਗਾ ।
His youth passes away, the illnesses of old age seize him, and the Messenger of Death punishes him; such is the death he dies.
(ਆਪ) ਆਦਿ ਤੋਂ ਹੋ, ਜੁਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਦਿ ਤੋਂ ਹੋ, ਅਤੇ ਅਨਾਦੀ ਹੋ । ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਆਪ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ) ਸੱਤਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ।
You are the Primal Lord God, from the very beginning, and throughout the ages; Your Power supports the three worlds.
(ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤਾਂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ) ਵੇਦ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਇਆ ਸੀ (ਵਰਾਹ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਕੇ) । ਆਪ ਬੁਢੇਪੇ ਤੇ ਜਮਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਵਾਰ ਹੋ (ਭਾਵ, ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ) ।
You are Inaccessible; You are the Saving Grace of the Vedas. You have conquered old age and death.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਤੇਰੀ) ਜੁਆਨੀ ਬੇ-ਪਰਵਾਹੀ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੰਘ ਗਈ, (ਹੁਣ) ਬੁਢੇਪੇ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ।
Your youth has passed away like this, and old age has overtaken your body.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ । ਉਮਰ ਲੰਘਦੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ।੩।
Says Nanak, meditate, vibrate upon the Lord; your life is fleeting away! ||3||
