ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਟੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਭਾਰ ਸਹਾਰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਖੋਟੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੌੜਦਾ
Those who are imbued with the love of the Name of the Lord are not loaded down by doubt.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਆਤਮਕ ਲਾਭ ਖੱਟ ਲਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੋ ਕਿਸੇ ਡਰ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ।੪।੨੩।
Those who chant the Name of the Lord earn great profits; the Fearless Lord abides within their minds. ||4||23||
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੀਵ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
Wandering in doubt, the spiritually blind come and go in reincarnation, over and over again.
ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
When God Himself bestows His Glance of Grace, He blends us into Himself. ||3||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਾਰਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਖਿਲਾਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ
All that is seen is You, Lord, the expansion of the expanse.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਆਖ—ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹੀ ਸੋਚ ਫੁਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਹੈਂ ।੪।੨੫।੯੫।
Says Nanak, the Guru has removed my doubts; I recognize God in all. ||4||25||95||
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ (ਮਨ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ) ਡਰ ਨੱਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
Doubt departs, and fear runs away, when you focus your consciousness on the Lord's Feet.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਕਮਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਭਾਵ, ਸ਼ਬਦ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਿਤਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ
The Gurmukh practices the Shabad, and the Lord comes to dwell within the mind.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਨ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Those who take pleasure in God's Will
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਪਰ ਇਹ ਮਿਹਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ)
remove doubt from within.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ
The Perfect Guru has implanted the Name of the Lord within me. It has dispelled my doubts from within.
ਉਹ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ (ਇਸ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਨੂੰ) ਚਾਨਣ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ (ਸਿੱਧਾ) ਰਸਤਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ
I sing the Lord's Name and the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises; the Divine Light shines, and now I see the Way.
(ਪਰ) ਜੇ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵ ਦਾ) ਪਿਆਰ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ
As it pleases Him, people embrace love for the Lord,
ਤੇ (ਇਸ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਭਰਮ ਤੇ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ
and doubt and delusion are dispelled from within.
ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਨਾਲ (ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ) ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Inwardly and outwardly, the Lord God is always with us.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਅਦਬ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲਾ ਡਰ ਮੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੨।
Fear, dread and doubt have been dispelled by the Perfect Guru; now, I see God everywhere. ||2||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਾਲੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
One who drinks in this Nectar, shall have his delusions dispelled.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
By Guru's Grace, the state of liberation is attained.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਡਰ-ਅਦਬ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਡਰ-ਅਦਬ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲ ਦੀ) ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਦੂਰ ਕਰੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।੫।
Night and day, they remain in the Fear of God; conquering their fears, their doubts are dispelled. ||5||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲ ਦੀ) ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਮੁਕਾ ਲਈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਿਆ,
Dispelling their doubts, they find a lasting peace.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
One who becomes Gurmukh embraces love for the One.
ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Doubt and duality are burned away by the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ—ਗੁਫ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਪਿਆ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ—ਥਾਂ ਸੰੁਦਰ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ
Within the cave of this body, there is one beautiful place.
(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੱੁਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ,
Through the Perfect Guru, ego and doubt are dispelled.
ਮਜ਼ਹਬ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਬਣੇ, ਤੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁਕਾ ਦੇਵੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਕਦੇ ਮਜ਼ਹਬ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਲਾਂਭੇ ਨਾਹ ਜਾਏ) ।
Becoming a true Muslim, a disciple of the faith of Mohammed, let him put aside the delusion of death and life.
ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰ ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ ਮੰਨੇ, ਕਾਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਮੰਨੇ ਤੇ ਖ਼ੁਦੀ ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਵੇ ।
As he submits to God's Will, and surrenders to the Creator, he is rid of selfishness and conceit.
ਜੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਦਿਲੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨੀਏ, ਤਾਂ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।
Serve the True Guru fearlessly, and your doubt shall be dispelled.
ਉਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਖੇ ।
Do that work which the True Guru asks you to do.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ! (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਭਟਕਣ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ (ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ) ।
O my mind, do not give in to doubt.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਮਾਣਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
When the mind surrenders to the Name, it drinks in the essence of Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||Pause||
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ) ਕੇਵਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Remembering the One Name, doubt is cast out from within.
। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ) ਨੌ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹੈ ।੪।੧੧।੩੧।
O Nanak, chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the nine treasures of the Name are obtained. ||4||11||31||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ! (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਉਤੇ) ਸ਼ੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ,
O my mind, have no doubt about this.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਰਸ ਪੀਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Those Gurmukhs who serve, drink in the Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! (ਆਮ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੀਵ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ) ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ (ਇਹ) ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਇਹ ਸਰਧਾ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ
O Baba, get rid of your doubts like this.
ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਉਹ ਜੀਵ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਉਸੇ ਹੀ ਪਾਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਰੁਝੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
As you act, so shall you become, and so you shall go and mingle. ||1||Pause||
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ! ਸਭ ਥਾਂ) ਤੇਰਾ (ਹੀ) ਹੁਕਮ (ਵਰਤ ਰਿਹਾ) ਹੈ, (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਮੌਜੂਦ) ਹੈਂ—(ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਹ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਏ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ?
The Shabad is Yours; You are Yourself. Where is there any doubt?
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਅਨੇਕਤਾ ਦਾ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹਵਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਹਰੇਕ) ਤੱਤ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਤੱਤ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਅਜੇਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ ।੪।੧।੧੫।੩੫।
O Nanak, one whose essence is merged with the Lord's essence does not have to enter the cycle of reincarnation again. ||4||1||15||35||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ,
The Perfect Guru has dispelled all doubts.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ।੪।੮।੭੭।
Remembering the Lord in meditation, Nanak has found peace. ||4||8||77||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਆਖ—ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਨਾਲ ਜਕੜੇ ਹੋਏ) ਕਵਾੜ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤੇ
Says Nanak, the Guru has opened my shutters;
ਉਹ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਸਾਰੇ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਏ ।੪।੪੩।੧੧੨।
I am liberated, and my doubts have been dispelled. ||4||43||112||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! (ਆਖ—ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ
My pains, troubles, doubts and fears are gone.
(ਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ) ਦੁੱਖ-ਦਰਦ, ਭਟਕਣ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ।੪।੫੦।੧੧੯।
The Creator Lord abides in Nanak's mind. ||4||50||119||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾਇਆਂ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ) ਸਹਮ-ਦੁੱਖ (ਆਪਣਾ) ਜ਼ੋਰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹ
Forgetting the Lord, superstition and sorrow shall overtake you.
(ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨੱਠ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Meditating on the Naam, doubt and fear shall depart. ||1||Pause||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਇੱਕ ਸੋਨੇ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਨਿਆਰੇ ਨੇ ਗਹਣਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਣਤਰ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ-ਰਚਨਾ ਰਚ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ।
The same gold is fashioned into various articles; just so, the Lord has made the many patterns of the creation.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਭਰਮ-ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਤੱਤ (ਮੂਲ-) ਤੱਤ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਰੂਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਹਣੇ ਮੁੜ ਸੋਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ।੪।੨।੧੨੩।
Says Nanak, the Guru has dispelled my doubt; in this way, my essence merges into God's essence. ||4||2||123||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਨ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਕੇ (ਇਹ) ਸੁਆਹ ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮਲ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ—ਇਹ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਜੋਗ-ਪੰਥ ।
I have burnt my doubt, and smeared my body with the ashes. My path is to see the One and Only Lord.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਜੋਗੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਭੰਡਾਰੇ ਵਾਲਾ) ਚੂਰਮਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਠਾਕੁਰ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਲਿਖ ਦਿੱਤੀ ।੩।
I have made that intuitive peace my food; the Lord Master has written this pre-ordained destiny upon my forehead. ||3||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Worship and adore the Lord, Har, Har, Har.
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਹੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਭਟਕਣਾ ਨੂੰ, ਮੋਹ ਨੂੰ ਤੇ ਡਰ-ਸਹਮ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਬੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
In the Society of the Saints, He dwells in the mind; doubt, emotional attachment and fear are vanquished. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹੀ (ਇਹ ਤਨ ਧਨ ਧਰਤੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਲਕੀਅਤਾਂ ਦਾ) ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਮਝਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ-ਰਚਨਾ ਰਚੀ ਹੈ
He alone knows His actions; He created this creation.
ਉਹੀ ਆਪ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਹੀ ਆਪ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੀ ਮਲਕੀਅਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੪।੫।੧੬੩।
Says Nanak, the Lord Himself is the Doer. The True Guru has dispelled my doubts. ||4||5||163||
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਹਜ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, (ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ) ਮੰਨ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹੀ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਸੁਖ (ਸਭ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਸੁਖ ਹੈ) ।
Blended with the One Lord, I enjoy intuitive peace.
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਾਲੀ) ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਬਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ
Through the Immaculate Bani of the Word, my doubts have been dispelled.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Those mortals who become Gurmukh give up their doubts.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੀ ਰੌ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
The celestial music wells up, when they lovingly attune their consciousness to the Lord. ||1||Pause||
(ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਆਪ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਏ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ (ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ।
Those whose guru is spiritually blind - their doubts are not dispelled.
(ਅਜੇਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਗੋਂ) ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ-ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Abandoning the Source of all, they have become attached to the love of duality.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਨ! ਹੇ ਬੇ-ਮੁਹਾਰ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ, ਪਖੰਡ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ ਤੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ
O camel-like mind, you are my breath of life; rid yourself of the pollution of hypocrisy and doubt.
(ਵੇਖ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦਾ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਨਕਾ-ਨਕ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ, ਤੇਰੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਏਗੀ ।੭।
The Perfect Guru is the Ambrosial Pool of the Lord's Nectar; join the Holy Congregation, and wash away this pollution. ||7||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ,
Through the Guru's Word, my doubts have been removed.
ਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਹਰ-ਥਾਂ-ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ।੪।
Through the Guru's Word, I see God everywhere. ||4||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ, ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਭਟਕਣਾਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ,
Dwelling upon the Lord, Har, Har, and the Guru, the Guru, my doubts have been dispelled.
ਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਏ ਹਨ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
My mind has obtained all comforts. ||1||Pause||
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ,) ਹੇ ਜੀਉ! ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ (ਸਾਡੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ।
Without our Beloved Guru, who can dispel our doubt?
ਹੇ ਮਾਂ! ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ (ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ ।
Through the Guru, doubt is dispelled. O my mother, this is the way to meet Him; this is how the soul-bride finds peace.
ਕੋਈ ਸਹਮ ਕੋਈ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ)
Doubt and skepticism do not affect them at all.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ।
They behold the manifest glory of the Lord.
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਛੇ ਭਟਕਣ ਦੀ ਬਾਣ ਮਿਟਾ ਦਿਓ ।
BHABHA: Cast out your doubt and delusion
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਕਈ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਹ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਾਗਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਸਾਥ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ),
- this world is just a dream.
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਹਰ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਹਿਮ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
All doubts are removed from his mind.
ਜੋ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ ਪੂਜਦਾ ਹੈ ।
He performs devotional service to the Supreme Lord God in all.
ਹੇ ਭਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖੋ! ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਛੱਡੋ ਤੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰੋ; ਕੇਵਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖੋ ।
Give up your cleverness, good people - remember the Lord God, your King!
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਦੁੱਖ ਵਹਮ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
Enshrine in your heart, your hopes in the One Lord. O Nanak, your pain, doubt and fear shall depart. ||1||
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ) ਸੇਵਕ-(ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ (ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਤੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ) ਸੇਵਕ-ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਹੈ),
The servant is in God, and God is in the servant.
ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਕ-ਰੂਪ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਵਾਲੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ।
He Himself is One - there is no doubt about this.
ਉਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ-ਰੂਪ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਝੋਰਾ, ਚਿੰਤਾ ਤੇ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਸਭ ਮੁਕਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ
Then, they drink in the Nectar, the Word of the Guru's Shabad; all burning, anxiety, and doubts are eliminated.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੱੁਖ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
They remain in ecstasy forever, day and night; O servant Nanak, they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, night and day. ||1||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ (ਮਨ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਂ ਤੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਿਆਰੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਰੇਂ;
If you can dispel your doubts, even for an instant, and love your only Beloved,
ਤਾਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਜਾਇਂਗਾ ਓਥੇ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ (ਦਿੱਸੇਗਾ) ।੧।
then wherever you go, there you shall find Him. ||1||
ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਆਖ—(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਅਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
Says Kabeer, my mind is filled with bliss;
ਮੇਰਾ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਚੁਕਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪਰਮ ਸੁਖ (ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਟਿਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ।੩।੨੦।
my doubts have been eliminated, and I am in ecstasy. ||3||20||
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ
This mind does not come or go.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ (ਸੁਖਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲਈ ਹੈ)
One whose doubt is dispelled, knows the Truth. ||6||
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ, ਇਹ (ਕਾਮ, ਕੋ੍ਰਧ ਆਦਿਕ) ਸਭ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਠੱਗੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਜਦ ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਆ ਗਿਆ, ਹੁਣ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਡਰੇਂ? ਹੁਣ ਨਿਡਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਰਹੁ) ।
O people, O victims of this Maya, abandon your doubts and dance out in the open.
ਉਹ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਕਾਹਦਾ ਜੋ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਦਿੱਸਦੀ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਤੋਂ ਡਰ ਜਾਏ? ਉਹ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਜੋ (ਘਰ ਦੇ) ਭਾਂਡੇ ਸਾਂਭਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ (ਸੂਰਮੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਤੇ ਸਤੀ ਵਾਂਗ, ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਟਾਕਰਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਸਾੜਨਾ ਹੈ) ।੧।
What sort of a hero is one who is afraid to face the battle? What sort of satee is she who, when her time comes, starts collecting her pots and pans? ||1||
(ਇਸ ਉੱਦਮ ਨਾਲ) ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ;
On the tenth day of the lunar cycle, there is ecstasy in all directions.
ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ; ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Doubt is dispelled, and the Lord of the Universe is met.
(ਹੇ ਪਾਂਡੇ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਪ੍ਰੀਤ (ਜੋੜ, ਇਹ) ਹੈ (ਮੂਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ) ਭੋਗ, (ਇਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਡਰ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
With the diet of His Love, doubt and fear depart.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਰਾਖੇ ਦਾ ਤੇਜ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਕਰ) ਕੋਈ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਚੋਰ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕਦਾ ।
With the Lord as your night watchman, no thief will dare to break in.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ) ਮੋਹ ਛੱਡ ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ।
Renounce your attachments and doubts, O brother,
(ਮੋਹ ਤਿਆਗਿਆਂ ਹੀ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਅਟੱਲ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
and dwell upon the True Name within your heart and body. ||1||Pause||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਧੰਧਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੋਈ ਸਾਰੀ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਸੁੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ।
The whole world is asleep in doubt; it is blinded by worldly entanglements.
ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ (ਇਸ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਜਾਗ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
How rare is that humble servant of the Lord who is awake and aware. ||1||
ਹੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜਲ ਹੈ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਾਲ) ਇਹ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ-ਰਸ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾਸ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਪੀਤਾ ਹੈ
Your Name is Ambrosial Nectar, O Lord Master; Your humble servant drinks in this supreme elixir.
(ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪੀਤਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਜਨਮਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਤੇ (ਕੀਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ) ਭਾਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਏ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਪਾਪ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਦੂਜੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ) ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ।੧।
The fearful load of sins from countless incarnations has vanished; doubt and duality are also dispelled. ||1||
ਹੇ ਸਖੀ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦਾ) ਉਲਾਹਮਾ ਦੇਣਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ
My pride is gone, O friends and companions;
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ
my doubt is dispelled, and the Guru has united me with my Beloved. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ
Says Nanak, I have found the Perfect Guru.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ) ਸਾਰਾ ਮੋਹ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੪।੨੦।੭੧।
My doubts and attachments have been totally obliterated. ||4||20||71||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਦੋਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ) ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੰੁਦਾ ਹੈ
When my God is totally pleased with me,
ਤਦੋਂ ਦੱਸੋ, ਕੋਈ ਦੁਖ ਭਰਮ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਆ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ।੧।
then, tell me, how can suffering or doubt draw near me? ||1||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਓ) ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਢਹਿ ਪਈਏ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ।
I fall at the Feet of the True Guru, who has dispelled my doubts.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣਾ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਨਾਮ (ਜਪਣ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ) ਚਲਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਡਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Bestowing His Mercy, God has dressed me, and decorated me with the Truth. ||1||Pause||
(ਪਰ ਜਗਤ ਤਾਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੇ ਕਿਵੇਂ? ਜੀਵ) ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਮੋਹ ਵਲੋਂ) ਮਰ ਜਾਏ (ਮੋਹ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਤੇ ਪੈਣ ਨ ਦੇਵੇ) ।
One who dies in the Word of the Shabad, embraces love for the One Lord.
ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਦੇ) ਨਾਹ ਮੁਕਾਏ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਟੋਲੇ (ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ) ਮੁਕਾ ਦੇਵੇ ।
One who eats the uneatable, has his doubts dispelled.
(ਕਨਿਕ ਕਾਮਨੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ) ਰੋਗ ਹੈ, ਭਟਕਣਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਿੱਥ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ ਹੈ ।
The mind is diseased with doubt, superstition and duality.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਜਪ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ
Without the Guru, it dwells in doubt, and contemplates duality.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਫਲ ਚੱਖ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹ (ਸਦਾ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ (ਹੋਰ ਸੁਆਦਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Those who taste the ambrosial fruit remain satisfied with Truth.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵਿੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਰਸੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।੭।
They have no doubt or sense of separation - their tongues taste the divine taste. ||7||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ
The True Guru has dispelled my doubts.
ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ
He has enshrined the Immaculate Name of the Lord within my mind.
(ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੇ! ਵੇਖ) ਜਦੋਂ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਨੇ (ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ) ਜਾਲ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੰੁਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੱਛੀ (ਭਿੱਤੀ ਦੇ ਲੱਬ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਜਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ) ਵਿਛੁੜ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਭਰ ਕੇ ਰੋਂਦੀ ਹੈ
The fish leaves the water with tearful eyes, when the fisherman casts his net.
(ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ) ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ (ਫਸ ਕੇ) ਅੰਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਹ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੰੁਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਦੋਂ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਕ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਭੀ ਸਾਥ ਛੱਡ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ।
The love of Maya is sweet to the world, but in the end, this delusion is dispelled.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ) ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਣਾ ਹੀ ਇਨਸਾਨੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਹੈ),
Meeting the Lord, my Lord King, my desires are fulfilled.
ਸੂਰਮੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੀ ਕੰਧ ਢਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਜੇਹੜੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਿਛੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਸੀ) ।
The walls of doubt have been torn down, meeting the Brave Guru, O Lord King.
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
In the Saadh Sangat, immerse yourself in the Love of the Lord; remember the Lord of the Universe in meditation.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਭਟਕਣਾ, ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ, ਵਿਕਾਰ, ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ—ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਔਗੁਣ ਉਹ ਤਿਆਗ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Doubt, emotional attachment, sin and duality - he renounces them all.
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਮਟਕੀ ਟੱੁਟ ਗਈ ਹੈ,
I have burnt away sexual desire, anger and attachment to Maya, and the pitcher of my desires has burst.
ਮੇਰਾ ਕਾਮ ਦਾ ਕੋਝਾ ਚੋਲਾ ਹੁਣ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਈ ਹੈ । (ਮੁੱਕਦੀ ਗੱਲ), ਸਾਰੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਹੀ) ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ।੨।
The gown of sensuous pleasures is worn out, and all my doubts have been dispelled. ||2||
(ਇਹ ਪਰਪੰਚ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਗ਼ਲਤ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਅਸਾਡਾ ਸਾਥ ਪੱਕਾ ਨਿਭਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ); ਇਹ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਇਉਂ ਹੀ ਹਨ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੇਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਦਾਰਥ; ਪਰ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ (ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ) ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਮਝ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ।
False doubts and dream objects - man believes them to be true.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਭਲੀ ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਵਹਿਮ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਸੱਲੀ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਆਸਾਡਾ ਤੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ) ।੩।
The Guru has instructed me to try to do good deeds, and my awakened mind has accepted this. ||3||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਕਰ ।
Listen to the sermon of the Lord, O mind, and enshrine the Shabad of His Word within your mind.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖ । ਜਦੋਂ (ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ, ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਤੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਅਕਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਡੋਲਣੋਂ ਬਚੀ ਰਹੇਗੀ, ਤਦੋਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗੀ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
If your intellect remains stable and steady, then doubt shall depart from within you. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੰੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਸਦਾ) ਵੱਸਿਆ ਰਹੁ ।
You are the Giver of all beings; please, come to dwell within my mind.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੇਰੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਕੋਮਲ ਚਰਨ ਜਿਸ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ, ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ।੧।
That heart, within which Your lotus feet are enshrined, suffers no darkness or doubt. ||1||
ਜਗਤ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੰੁਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਭਟਕਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ।
Wandering around, doubt is not dispelled; afflicted by reincarnation, the world is being ruined.
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਹੀ ਐਸਾ ਥਾਂ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਉਪਰਾਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਤਪ ਹੀ ਸਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਹੈ ।੪।
The Lord's eternal throne is free of this affliction; he is truly wise, who takes the Naam as his deep meditation. ||4||
ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿੰਦੇ) ਹਨ ਉਹ ਭੈੜੀ ਮੱਤ ਧੋ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ
With the Love of Your Name, I wash away my evil-mindedness.
ਹੇ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ! ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
By continually meditating on You, O Formless Lord, my doubts and fears are dispelled.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਹੋਈ ਇਹ (ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਆਣਪ-ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ) ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਣ ਕੀਤੀ
Erasing my self-conceit, I have entered His Sanctuary; these are the Teachings spoken by the Holy Guru.
ਤੇ, ਜੋ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਏ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਭਰਮ (-ਰੂਪ) ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ।੧।
Surrendering to the Will of God, I attain peace, and the darkness of doubt is dispelled. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਅਭੁੱਲ ਹੈ, ਕਦੇ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਭੀ ਨਿਰੋਲ ਸੱਚ ਹੈ
- He never errs; the justice of the True Lord is totally True.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਸਮਝਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧੩।
Those whom the Lord Himself instructs as Gurmukh - duality and doubt depart from within them. ||13||
ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀ! ਜਿਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ (ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ) ਦਾ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਸੀ, ਉਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਤੋਂ) ਦੂਰ (-ਵੱਸਦਾ) ਜਾਣਦੀ ਰਹੀ ।
As long as I suffered from duality and doubt, O my friend, I thought God was far away.
ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀ! ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਹਰੇਕ ਆਸ ਹਰੇਕ ਤਾਂਘ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਹੇ ਸਖੀ!
But when I met the Perfect True Guru, O my friend, then all my hopes and desires were fulfilled.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਗਿਆ, ਉਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ।
Those who worship in adoration the Name of the Lord, Har, Har - their pain, doubts and fears are dispelled.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
Through their loving service, those very fortunate ones, whose minds are attached to the Guru's Feet, meet Him.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹੈ ਨਿਰ-ਆਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪੂਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਆਦਰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ
He is Fearless, Formless and absolutely without vengeance; I am absorbed in His Perfect Light.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੰੁਦੀ (ਤੇ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕੀਦਾ) ।੪।੩।
O Nanak, without the Guru, doubt is not dispelled; through the True Name, glorious greatness is obtained. ||4||3||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ ।
Serving the Perfect Guru, one becomes carefree, enshrining the Lord within the mind.
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
The mind and body become immaculately pure, and a lasting peace fills the heart; doubt is eradicated from within. ||3||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵੇਖੇ ਹਨ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਭੀ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ), ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ।
I have searched through the Simritees and the Shaastras, O Siblings of Destiny - without the True Guru, doubt does not depart.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕਰਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਥੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਸਗੋਂ) ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਬੰਧਨ ਹੀ ਸਹੇੜਦਾ ਹੈ ।
They are so tired of performing their many deeds, O Siblings of Destiny, but they fall into bondage again and again.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ ਗਵਾ ਲਈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪਛਾਣ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
O my mind, no one appears to be mistaken, to one who has dispelled his own doubts; he realizes that everyone is God. ||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ-ਚਿੱਤ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ।
One whose mind is comforted in the Society of the Saints, believes that all are joyful.
ਜਿਸ ਮਾਨਸਕ ਹਾਲਤ ਨੂੰ ‘ਭਰਮ ਭੁਲਾਵਾ’ ਆਖੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਭਰਮ ਭੁਲਾਵਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ) ਫਸਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ।
The whole world is entangled in what is called the delusion of doubt.
ਪਰੰਤੂ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਗਤ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
The perfect devotee of the Primal Lord God remains detached from everything. ||2||
:—(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਉ । ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ) ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਭਰਮ ਮਿਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ) ਹਨੇਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ।
The Perfect Guru has dispelled the darkness of doubt.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਭਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ, (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ (ਦਿੱਸ ਪਏਗਾ) ।ਰਹਾਉ।
Remember God with love and devotion; He is near at hand. ||Pause||
ਉਹ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਰਾਮ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
The Perfect Lord is completely permeating everyone, everywhere; He is diffused in the water and the land. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਨਕ (ਉਸ) ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ) ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ
Nanak sings the Praises of the Lord, the treasure of excellence; the True Guru has dispelled his doubt.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਭੈੜੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਲੋਕਾਈ ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਖੁੰਝੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ
So many are destroyed by their own evil-mindedness, O Siblings of Destiny; in the love of duality, they are ruined.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ, ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ।
Without the True Guru, the Name is not obtained, O Siblings of Destiny; without the Name, doubt does not depart.
ਮੇਰਾ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਹਸਤੀ ਭੀ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ; ਇਸ ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਦੇ ਦੂਰ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਲ) ਹੁਣ ਕੋਈ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਗਿਆ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਡਰ ਤਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਓਪਰੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ)
My doubts were removed, and my fear ran away,
ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਗਿੱਝ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
when my consciousness became attached to the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰ ਇਹ ਦੈ੍ਵਤ ਦਾ) ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਨਿਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੰੁਦਾ
By preaching sermons, one's doubt is not dispelled.
ਨਿਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਥੱਕ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ (ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਦੈ੍ਵਤ-ਭਾਵ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ) ।
Everyone is tired of preaching and teaching.
ਹੇ ਮਾਧੋ! ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ।
O Lord, what can I say about such an illusion?
ਅਸੀ ਜੋ ਮੰਨੀ ਬੈਠੇ ਹਾਂ (ਕਿ ਜਗਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਹੈ), ਉਹ ਠੀਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Things are not as they seem. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਦੁੱਖ, ਹਰੇਕ ਭਰਮ ਹਰੇਕ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The humble Saints of the Lord meditate on the Lord; their pain, doubt and fear have run away.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧
The Lord Himself inspires them to serve Him; they are awakened within to the Guru's Teachings. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੂਰਖ ਜਗਤ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਅਜੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ
In such confusion, the world has gone astray.
ਕਿ ਆਪਣਾ) ਕੀਮਤੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਗਵਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
The foolish mortal wastes this precious human life. ||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਇਹ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ) ਅੰਦਰ (ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੋਂ) ਬਾਹਰ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ (ਵੱਸਦਾ) ਸਮਝੋ ।
Outside and inside, know that there is only the One Lord; the Guru has imparted this wisdom to me.
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਪਣਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਰਖਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮਨ ਉੱਤੋਂ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦਾ ਜਾਲਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ (ਤੇ, ਉਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦੀ) ।੨।੧।
O servant Nanak, without knowing one's own self, the moss of doubt is not removed. ||2||1||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਾਤਮਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
By Your Command, the account is settled, and doubt is dispelled.
ਗੁਰੂ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਆਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹਨ ।
The Guru dispels doubt, and makes us speak the Unspoken Speech; the true ones are absorbed into Truth.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੁਖ ਵਿਚ (ਭੀ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਦੁਖ ਵਿਚ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹੀ) ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਨਾਹ ਭੁੱਲੇ ।
In good times, worship and adore Him; in bad times, worship and adore Him; do not ever forget Him.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਖੋਜ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ) ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਆਦ ਫਿੱਕੇ ਹਨ ।
All other tastes are bland and insipid; I have tested them and seen them.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਵਕੀਲ ਬਣਿਆ ਤੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਅਗਿਆਨ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ
Ignorance, doubt and suffering are dispelled, when the Guru becomes one's advocate.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮੈਂ (ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਕਰਮ ਕਾਂਡ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੀ) ਗਲੀ ਗਲੀ ਢੰੂਢਦੀ ਰਹੀ, ਵੇਖਦੀ ਰਹੀ
I have searched for the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, looking in each and every street.
ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ।੧।
Meeting with the Guru, my doubts have been dispelled. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ! ਹੇ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ! ਹੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਸੁਜਾਨ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ, ਮੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ
Dispel my doubt, and save me, O my Beloved, all-knowing Lord, O Inner-knower, O Searcher of hearts.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰ । ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਧਨ ਕੋ੍ਰੜਾਂ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹੀਆਂ (ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ) ।੧।
The wealth of the Naam is worth millions of kingdoms to me; O God, please bless me with Your Ambrosial Glance of Grace. ||1||
ਹੇ ਸਖੀ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਟੂਣੇ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ
By the charms of virtue, I have enticed and fascinated my Husband Lord.
(ਹੇ ਸਖੀ! ਉਸ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ) ਮੇਰਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ
He is under my power - the Guru has dispelled my doubts.
ਹੁਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿੰਗਾਰ (ਉੱਦਮ) ਸੋਹਣੇ ਲੱਗ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ।
I am now adorned with all sorts of decorations.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ।੪।
Says Nanak, the Guru has dispelled my doubt. ||4||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੰਤ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ, ਭਟਕਣਾ, ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Attachment to Maya, doubt and fear are eradicated, when one enters the Sanctuary of the Saints.
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਵਾਸਨਾ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਉਹੀ ਫ਼ਲ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
Whatever wishes one harbors, are obtained from the Saints. ||3||
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮੋਹ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਚਿੰਤਾ-ਝੋਰਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ
My doubts have gone, my fears and infatuations have been dispelled, and all my sorrows are gone.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕੀਤੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ ।੪।੫।੫੨।
O Nanak, the Lord, the Giver of peace has been merciful to me. I have met the Perfect True Guru. ||4||5||52||
ਹੇ ਮਾਇਆ-ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ
So serve the True Guru with love, through the Immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਹੇ ਭਰਮ ਤੇ ਭਉ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਮੈਂ ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੩।
As it pleases You, so by Your Will, You destroy my doubts and fears. ||3||
ਜਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਉਚਾਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਣੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲ ਦੌੜਨ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲ ਬੈਠੇ, ਤੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ ।
Singing the Guru's Bani, I have obtained the supreme status; meeting with the Saints, the self-elect, I am blessed and adorned.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕੋ੍ਰਧ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਨੱਸ ਗਈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਖੰਡ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ।
Anger and attachment have left my body and run away; I have eradicated hypocrisy and doubt.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ, ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।
Meditate on the One, Unseen, Infinite, Perfect Lord; there is no other than Him.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ—ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਮੇਰੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, (ਹੁਣ) ਮੈਂ ਜਿਧਰ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਉਧਰ ਉਹ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਹੀ (ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੩।
Prays Nanak, the Guru has erased my doubts; wherever I look, there I see Him. ||3||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਆਦਤ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ,
His position is unmoving and eternal, his anxiety is ended, and he wavers no more.
(ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਿਰਦਾ-ਆਸਣ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ) ਚਿੰਤਾ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ) ਡੋਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ।੩।
His doubts and misgivings are dispelled, and he sees God everywhere. ||3||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲਏ, ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਮਿਟਾਣ ਲਈ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਕਰਮ ਕਰ ਲਏ ।
To enshrine the Feet of God in one's mind and body, is to perform all sorts of acts of atonement.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਭਰਮ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਸੜ ਗਏ ।੧।
Coming and going, doubt and fear have run away, and the sins of countless incarnations are burnt away. ||1||
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁਕਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Serving the True Guru, doubt is driven away.
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਥਿੱਤਾਂ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਤੀਰਥ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਭਟਕਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ) ।੯।
Deep within the home of the heart, one finds the Mansion of the True Lord's Presence. ||9||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਦਿਆਲ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲਿਆ ।
The Merciful Supreme Lord God has carried me across the world-ocean.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰੇ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੇ ਸਹਿਮ ਮੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
The compassionate perfect Guru has eradicated my doubts and fears.
ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਆਦਿਕ ਵਲ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ,
The Guru, the True Guru, has expelled my doubts.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਲਿਆ ।੪।੧੦।
Says Nanak, I have merged into the Word of the Shabad. ||4||10||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਜੋੜੋ, (ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰੋ, ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰੋ (ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਪੜਤਾਲਦੇ ਰਹੋ) ।
Eradicate doubt, and as Gurmukh, enshrine love for the Lord; understand your own soul, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਸਮਝੋ, (ਫਿਰ) ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਭੈੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕੋਗੇ (ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ) ।੩।
Know that God is near at hand, and ever-present. How could you try to hurt anyone else? ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ,
Says Nanak, the Guru has dispelled my doubt.
ਉਹ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ, ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਦਾ ਮਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ।੪।੧੦।
No one dies; no one comes or goes. ||4||10||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੱੁਖ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੱਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ,
He has no doubt, double-mindedness or duality at all.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਦੁਚਿੱਤਾ-ਪਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ।
He worships and adores the One Immaculate Lord alone.
ਹੇ ਜੋਗੀ! (ਜਿਸ ਜੋਗ ਦਾ ਅਸੀ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ ਉਸ) ਜੋਗ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਰਸਤਾ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The Path of Yoga is very difficult, Yogi; he alone finds it, whom God blesses with His Grace.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮੇਰ-ਤੇਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧੧।
Inside and outside, he sees the One Lord; he eliminates doubt from within himself. ||11||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ‘ਸ਼ਬਦ’ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
When He bestows His Glance of Grace, the Shabad comes to abide within the heart, and doubt is eradicated from within.
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The body and mind become immaculate, through the Immaculate Word of His Bani. Let His Name be enshrined in your mind.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਹੋਵੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਜੋ ਦਰ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਭਟਕ ਕੇ ਰੋਟੀਆਂ ਆਟਾ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਫਿਰਨ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ‘ਅਭਿਆਗਤ’ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖੀਦਾ;
He is not called a renunciate, whose consciousness is filled with doubt.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਅਜੇਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਣ ਨਾਲ ਪੁੰਨ ਭੀ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਕੋਈ ਪੁੰਨ-ਕਰਮ ਨਹੀਂ) ।
Donations to him bring proportionate rewards.
ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਕਮਲ ਖਿੜ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, my heart-lotus has blossomed forth; the Lord blessed me with the treasure of devotional worship.
ਜੇ (ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਜਾਗਿਆ (ਸਮਝੋ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਅਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
My doubt was dispelled, and I woke up; the darkness of ignorance was dispelled.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਜਸ ਗਾਵਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚਲੇ ਕਿਵਾੜ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹ ਗਏ (ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਈ) ।
When one follows the Guru's Teachings, and sings the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, the doors of the mind, held shut by deception, are thrown open again.
ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਖਿੱਝ ਦੂਰ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਵਹਿਮ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਲੋਕ-ਲਾਜ ਦੀ ਮਟੁਕੀ ਭੀ ਟੁੱਟ ਗਈ (ਜਿਹੜੀ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਸੀ) ।੩।
The three qualities are shattered, doubt and fear run away, and the clay pot of public opinion is broken. ||3||
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਸਦਾ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
The True Guru saves us at both ends; he alone understands, who is lovingly focused on the One Lord; his inner being remains free of doubt.
(ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਅੰਤਰ ਆਤਮੇ ਭਟਕਣਾ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜੁਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਮੁਕਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੪।
The Word of the Shabad abides within, and doubt is ended, for those who constantly serve, day and night. ||4||
ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਧਣਖ (ਬਾਣ) ਕਸਦੀ ਹੈ
Tear down skepticism and dispel your doubt;
(ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਸਹਿਮ-ਤੌਖ਼ਲਾ ਮੁਕਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ,
with your intuition, draw the bow of the Praise of the Lord.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਕਾਰ-ਵਿਹਾਰ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਖੇਡ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।
Intuitively I come, and intuively I go; my mind intuitively plays.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—(ਜਦੋਂ ਦੀ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਅਸਥਿਰ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰੀ (ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ।੪।੩।੧੨।
Says Nanak, when the Guru drives out doubt, then the soul-bride enters the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. ||4||3||12||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੱਦ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ, ਤੇ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਜਾ ਪਉ (ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਬੀਜ ਬੀਜ ਲੈ)
Eradicate the stubbornness and doubt of your mind, and go to the Sanctuary of the True Guru.
। ਪਰ ਇਹ ਕਾਰ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਇਹ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਵੇ ।੨।
He alone does such deeds, who has such pre-ordained karma. ||2||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਸਾਰੇ ਕੀਰਨੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਰਲਾਪ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
Your cries and shrieks shall be ended;
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਜਪ ਕੇ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਡਰ (ਦਾ ਪੜਦਾ) ਫਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
meditating on the Lord of the Universe, your doubts and fears shall be dispelled.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਹਾਂ) ਆਪਣੇ (ਇਸ) ਸੇਵਕ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਨੀ, ਮੈਂ (ਤੇਰਾ ਸੇਵਕ) ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ।੩।
Please bless me with Your Mercy, that I may meditate on Your Name alone. ||3||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੂਜੇ (ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਸਮਝਣ) ਦਾ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗਰੀਬ ਨਾਨਕ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ ।੪।੪।੨੦।
Nanak, the meek and humble, begs for the Naam, the Name of the Lord; it eradicates duality and doubt. ||4||4||20||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਚਾਨਣ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।
One whose spiritual vision is awakened - his doubt is driven out.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਦਰਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
By Guru's Grace, he obtains the supreme status.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੈ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਰਾਜ ਵਿਚ) ਪੈਂਚ ਚੌਧਰੀ ਬਣਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।
He Himself is the King and the Council.
ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਉਤੇ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਭਟਕਣਾ, (ਪਰਸਪਰ) ਵਿੱਥ ਤੇ ਡਰ-ਸਹਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧੦।
God Himself, the wise Judge, sits on the throne; He takes away doubt, duality and fear. ||10||
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਾਈ
Without the Perfect Guru, no one has even described it.
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ।੧੩।
The self-willed manmukhs have staged the show of falsehood. Without the True Guru, doubt does not depart. ||13||
ਜੇਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ
Wandering from the Name, he endures beatings.
(ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਹ) ਬਹੁਤ ਸਿਆਣਪ (ਵਿਖਾਵੇ), ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ।
Even great cleverness does not dispel doubt.
ਸਾਰੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੁਗ ਨਿਰੋਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਬੀਤਦੇ ਗਏ ।
This Primal Void is pervasive throughout all the ages.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ (ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ) ਹਾਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੋਚ-ਮੰਡਲ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਆਸਰੇ ਭਾਲਣ ਦੀ) ਉਕਾਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ । ਅਜੇਹੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਭੀ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
That humble being who contemplates this state is perfect; meeting with him, doubt is dispelled. ||3||
ਤੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਤਖ਼ਤ ਉਤੇ ਬੈਠਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਨਾਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲ ਡੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ।
Following the Guru's Teachings, he subdues the five demons, and becomes the Lord's foot soldier.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਦਿ ਤੋਂ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਭੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹੇਗਾ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਤੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਹਮ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧੪।
He has existed from the very beginning of time and throughout the ages; He exists here and now, and will always exist. Meditating on Him, skepticism and doubt are dispelled. ||14||
ਤੇ (ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ) ਪੱਥਰ ਸਮੰੁਦਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਤਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ
Through the Guru's Teachings, Rama floated stones across the ocean.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਜੋ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਮੁਕਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ।੧੦।
Accepting the Guru's Teachings, the supreme status is obtained; O Nanak, the Guru eradicates doubt. ||10||
ਉਹ ਜੀਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, meditate on the Lord's Name.
ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਆਨੰਦ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਬੇ-ਮਿਸਾਲ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਤਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ । ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੩।
God is the embodiment of bliss, incomparably beautiful and unfathomable; meeting with the Guru, doubt is dispelled. ||3||
ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਤ ਸਤ ਸੰਜਮ ਦੇ ਸਾਧਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ,
Some practice chastity, charity and self-discipline, and speak of spiritual wisdom.
ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ।੧੩।
But without the Lord's Name, how can anyone find peace? Without the True Guru, doubt is not dispelled. ||13||
ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ।
The Great Giver, the Life of the world, Himself has met me.
ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ । ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਹਰੇਕ ਭਰਮ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੭।
He alone understands, whom the Lord joins with Himself. Fear and doubt are taken away from his body. ||7||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਖੱਟਣਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਸੌਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਵਪਾਰ ਹੈ,
True is his merchandise, and true is his trade.
ਉਸ ਸੌਦੇ-ਵਪਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਕੋਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਖਲ-ਜਗਨ ਨਹੀਂ ।
There is no doubt within him, and no expanse of duality.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
One who becomes Gurmukh understands.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
He rids himself of egotism, Maya and doubt.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਤਨ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The mind and body are cooled and soothed, holding tight to the Guru's Feet.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ (ਟਿਕੀ ਹੋਈ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Doubt is eliminated from within, and fear runs away.
ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਹੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
He alone obtains the Truth, unto whom the True Lord gives it.
ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
His inner being is filled with Truth, and his doubt is dispelled.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ
The True Lord Himself unites us in the Word of His Shabad.
ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Within the Shabad, doubt is driven out.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਸਰੀਰ ਦੀ ਪੜਤਾਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ,
Purify the body, and contemplate the Shabad.
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਠੱਗ-ਬੂਟੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਂਦੇ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Remove the poisonous drug of emotional attachment, and eradicate doubt.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Following the Guru's Teachings, I am immersed in the Lord's Love.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਭਟਕਣਾ, ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਮੋਹ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧੨।
Following the Guru's Teachings, all bonds are broken, and this doubt and emotional attachment are burnt away. ||12||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ ।
Seek the Sanctuary of the Perfect Guru.
ਗੁਰੂ (ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮੋਹ ਸੋਗ ਤੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਭਰਮ ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
He shall eradicate all emotional attachment, sorrow and doubt.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਫੜਾਏ ਹਨ ।
The Guru has led me to grasp the feet of God.
ਮੈਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਨਾਸ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਝੱਖੜ ਥੰਮ੍ਹ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ।੧੫।
I am a sacrifice to the Perfect True Guru, who has destroyed the illusion of duality. ||15||
ਹੁਣ ਜਦੋਂ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ) ਮੇਰਾ ਪੰਜ-ਤੱਤੀ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
When the body, formed of the five elements, perishes, then any such doubts shall end.
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਭੇਲੇਖਾ ਭੀ ਇਉਂ ਮੁਕਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਭੇਖ (ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ) ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ।੨।
Giving up the different schools of philosophy, I look upon all equally; I meditate only on the One Name. ||2||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਨਾਹ ਤੂੰ (ਜਨਮ ਸਮੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੁਝ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ, ਨਾਹ ਤੂੰ (ਇਥੋਂ ਤੁਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੁਝ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜਾਹਿਂਗਾ (ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ) ।
O my mind, why did you come into the world? What will you take with you when you go?
ਹੇ ਮਨ! (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਤਦੋਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ, ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਵੇਂਗਾ ।
O my mind, you shall be emancipated, when you eliminate your doubts.
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਭਟਕਣਾ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵਿੱਥ, ਡਰ-ਸਹਮ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ, ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੇੜ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ) ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ ।
Doubt, separation and fear are never eradicated, and the mortal continues coming and going in reincarnation, as long as he does not know the Lord.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਬੰਦਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ । (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ) ਗੋਤੇ ਖਾ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੀ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ।੨।
Without the Name of the Lord, no one is liberated; they drown and die without water. ||2||
ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ (ਮਨ)! (ਨਿਰੀ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਗਵਾ ਲਏਂਗਾ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਤੇਰੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕੇਗੀ ।
Busy with his worldly affairs, all honor is lost; the ignorant one is not rid of his doubts.
ਹੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ (ਮਨ)! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਤੋਂ) ਕਦੇ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ । ਇਹ ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹੇਗੀ, ਸੁਰਤਿ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਖਿੰਡਾਉ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇਗਾ ।੩।
Without the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the mortal is never liberated; he remains blindly entangled in the expanse of worldly affairs. ||3||
