ਕੁਕਰਮੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, no one is interested in good karma, or Dharmic faith.
ਇਸ ਕਲਿਜੁਗ (ਭਾਵ, ਕੁਕਰਮ-ਦਸ਼ਾ) ਦੇ ਪੰਜੇ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆਂ ਕੋਈ ਕਰਮ-ਧਰਮ ਛੁਡਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ।
This Dark Age was born in the house of evil.
ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਤੱਤੀ (ਅੱਗ) ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਵਿਕਾਰ ਜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਠੰਢਾ ਹੈ,
The Dark Age of Kali Yuga is so hot; the Lord's Name is soothing and cool.
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰੋ ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਉ;
Remember, remember it in meditation, and obtain everlasting peace.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਤਿਜੁਗ ਨੂੰ, ਤ੍ਰੇਤੇ ਨੂੰ, ਦੁਆਪਰ ਨੂੰ (ਚੰਗਾ) ਜੁਗ ਆਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਗੋਂ) ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਹੱਥ ਕੋਈ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਹੱਥ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਫ਼ਲ ਭੁਗਤਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The Golden Age of Sat Yuga, the Silver Age of Trayta Yuga, and the Brass Age of Dwaapar Yuga are good; but the best is the Dark Age, the Iron Age, of Kali Yuga.
ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਫੜਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ।੩।
As we act, so are the rewards we receive; no one can take the place of another. ||3||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਧਰਮ-ਬਲਦ ਦੇ) ਤਿੰਨ ਪੈਰ ਤਿਲਕ ਗਏ (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਧਰਮ-ਬਲਦ ਸਿਰਫ਼) ਚੌਥਾ ਪੈਰ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਨਾਮ-ਮਾਤ੍ਰ ਧਰਮ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ।
The Lord ushered in the Dark Age, the Iron Age of Kali Yuga; three legs of religion were lost, and only the fourth leg remained intact.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਸ਼ਬਦ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਢਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਵਾਈ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Acting in accordance with the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the medicine of the Lord's Name is obtained. Singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, divine peace is obtained.
ਕਲਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ ਅਥਰਬਣ ਵੇਦ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ‘ਖੁਦਾਇ’ ਤੇ ‘ਅਲਹੁ’ ਵੱਜਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ;
In the Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Atharva Veda became prominent; Allah became the Name of God.
ਤੁਰਕਾਂ ਤੇ ਪਠਾਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਨੀਲੇ ਰੰਗ ਦਾ ਬਸਤਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ।
Men began to wear blue robes and garments; Turks and Pat'haans assumed power.
ਕਲਜੁਗੀ ਸੁਭਾਉ (ਮਾਨੋ) (ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਕੱਢਣ ਵਾਲੀ) ਮੱਟੀ ਹੈ
The Dark Age of Kali Yuga is the vessel, filled with the wine of sexual desire; the mind is the drunkard.
ਕਾਮ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੀਣ ਵਾਲਾ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮਨ ਹੈ, ਮੋਹ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦੀ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਕਟੋਰੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਪਿਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ
Anger is the cup, filled with emotional attachment, and egotism is the server.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਕਲਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ (ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ) ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ) ਭੂਤਨੇ ਜੰਮੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, O Nanak, the demons have taken birth.
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਭੂਤਨਾ, ਧੀ ਭੂਤਨੀ ਤੇ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਭੂਤਨਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਦਾਰ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ; ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਸਭ ਜੀਵ ਭੂਤਨੇ ਹਨ) ।੧।
The son is a demon, and the daughter is a demon; the wife is the chief of the demons. ||1||
ਇਹ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦਾ) ਸਮਾ (ਅੱਖਾਂ ਮੀਟਣ ਤੇ ਨੱਕ ਫੜਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਢਬਾਂ ਨਾਲ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਮੇਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਚਰਨ ਦਾ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਹੈ ।
No, no, this is not the time, when people know the way to Yoga and Truth.
ਇਹਨਾਂ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਜਗਤ ਦੇ (ਅਨੇਕਾਂ) ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹਿਰਦੇ (ਭੀ) ਗੰਦੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਗਤ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਡੱੁਬਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
The holy places of worship in the world are polluted, and so the world is drowning. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਹੁਣ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੇ (ਨਾਮ ਬੀਜਣ ਦਾ) ਸਮਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ ।
Now, the Dark Age of Kali Yuga has come.
(ਆਪਣੀ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦੀ ਪੈਲੀ ਵਿਚ) ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਬੀਜ, ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਬੀਜ ।
Plant the Naam, the Name of the One Lord.
ਰੱਬ ਤੋਂ ਵਿੱਛੁੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਕੁੱਤੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਖਾਣ ਦਾ ਹਲਕ ਕੁੱਦਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਵੱਢੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਹਰਾਮ ਚੀਜ਼ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ-ਭਾਉਂਦਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੁੱਤੇ ਦਾ ਮਨ-ਭਾਉਂਦਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਮੁਰਦਾਰ ਹੈ);
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, people have faces like dogs; they eat rotting carcasses for food.
(ਇਹ ਲੁਕਾਈ) ਸਦਾ ਝੂਠ ਬੋਲਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਮਾਨੋ, ਮੁਰਦਾਰ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਕੁੱਤੇ ਵਾਂਗ) ਭਉਂਕ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਧਰਮ (ਦੀ ਅੰਸ) ਤੇ (ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ;
They bark and speak, telling only lies; all thought of righteousness has left them.
ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਵਿਚ (ਭਾਵ, ਇਸ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ-ਭਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ) ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹੈ, (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਇਸ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲਣ ਲਈ) ਰਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ ।
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, there is utter darkness; the self-willed manmukh cannot find the way.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
O Nanak, very blessed are those Gurmukhs, unto whom the Lord is revealed. ||1||
ਸ਼ਰਾਰਤਿ (ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ) ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਚੌਧਰੀ (ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਤੇ ਝੂਠੀ ਜ਼ਨਾਨੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਥਾਂ ਮੱਲਦੀ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ) ।
The trouble-maker is called a leader, and the liar is seated with honor.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਹ ਹੈ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਦਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਇਹ ਰਵਈਆ ਵਰਤੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਓਥੇ ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਦਾ ਪਹਰਾ ਜਾਣੋ) । ਪਰ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਇਹ ਵਤੀਰਾ ਮਾੜਾ ਹੈ । ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕ ਇਸ ਰਵਈਏ ਦੇ ਆਦੀ ਹੋਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ) ।੧।
O Nanak, the Gurmukhs know that this is justice in the Dark Age of Kali Yuga. ||1||
