ਹੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਸਮਝ ਦੇਹ ।
The Guru has given me this one understanding:
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਇਕ ਰੱਬ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਨਾ ਦਿਆਂ ।੫।
there is only the One, the Giver of all souls. May I never forget Him! ||5||
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਮੰਗ ਕਿਤਨੀ ਹੀ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੰਗ ਮੰਗਣ ਵਿਚ ਕਮੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ (ਭਾਵ, ਦੁਨੀਆਵੀ ਮੰਗ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ)
How can we describe Him with words? There is no end to the descriptions of Him.
ਫਿਰ) ਬੇਅੰਤ ਜੀਵ ਹਨ ਮੰਗਾਂ ਮੰਗਣ ਵਾਲੇ, ਤੇ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਕੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੈ
There are so many beggars, but He is the only Giver.
ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੀ (ਐਸਾ) ਦਾਤਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਜ਼ਕ ਅਪੜਾਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥ ਹੈ
DADDA: The One Lord is the Great Giver; He is the Giver to all.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ, ਵੰਡਦਿਆਂ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਤੋਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ।
There is no limit to His Giving. His countless warehouses are filled to overflowing.
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ) ਭੋਗਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ-ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।੧।
The Great Giver, the Enjoyer, the Bestower - there is no place at all without Him.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! (ਸਦਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ, (ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਚਾਹੇਂਗਾ ਉਹੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
You shall obtain all that you desire, O Nanak, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||
ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਕੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ;
Serve the One Lord, the Great Giver; meditate on the One Lord.
ਇਕੋ ਹਰੀ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਹੀ ਦਾਨ ਮੰਗਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮਨ-ਮੰਗੀ ਮੁਰਾਦ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ;
Beg from the One Lord, the Great Giver, and you shall obtain your heart's desires.
ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ
All beings and creatures meditate on Your Name.
ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਹੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
You are the Giver, the Great Giver; we eat whatever You give us.
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਦੂਜਾ (ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਜੋਗਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ) ।
The One Lord is the Giver of all beings; there is no other at all.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ (ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ) ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹੈ (—ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ।੨।੯।੭੩।
Nanak prays, You are my only strength, God. ||2||9||73||
ਜਿਸ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰੋ,
Praise the Creator Lord, who created the creation.
ਉਸ ਇਕ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਓ ਜੋ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਰਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Praise the Great Giver, who gives sustenence to all.
