ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣ
O Siblings of Destiny, become the dust of the feet of the humble Saints.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਭਾ ਵਿਚ (ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ) ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਕਾਮਧੇਨ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਉਹ ਨਾਮ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
In the Society of the Saints, the Guru is found. He is the Treasure of Liberation, the Source of all good fortune. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਹਰੀ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ, ਸਾਰੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ
All comforts and peace, and the Essence of the Lord, are enjoyed by acquiring spiritual wisdom in the Society of the Saints.
(ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
Day and night, continually serve the Lord God; the True Guru has given the Naam. ||2||
ਉਹ ਮਾਂ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਨੰੂ) ਜਨਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ) ਪਿਤਾ ਭੀ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਾਤੀ ਵਿਚ) ਸੇ੍ਰਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ । ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਲਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
Blessed is the mother who gave birth; blessed and respected is the father of one who serves the True Guru and finds peace. His arrogant pride is banished from within.
(ਜੇਹੜੇ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸਾਵਧਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
Standing at the Lord's Door, the humble Saints serve Him; they find the Treasure of Excellence. ||1||
(ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ, ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ) ਜਿੱਥੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ (ਜੁੜਦੀ) ਹੈ ਉਹ ਥਾਂ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਹੈ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੈ
Embellished and immaculate is that place where the Saints gather together.
(ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੱੁਖ ਨੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਆਸਰਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ
He alone finds shelter, who has met the Perfect Guru.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ! ਭਰਾਵੋ ! (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਦਾ) ਖ਼ਰਚ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰ
Meet with the humble Saints, O Siblings of Destiny, and contemplate the True Name.
ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ ਸਫ਼ਰ-ਖ਼ਰਚ) ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ (ਜਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ) ਨਿਭਦਾ ਹੈ
For the journey of the soul, gather those supplies which will go with you here and hereafter.
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਉਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਦਬਾਉ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਕਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵਿਚ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ
The world is drunk, engrossed in sexual desire, anger and egotism.
(ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਉ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆਂ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਦਾ) ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰਾ-ਰੂਪ ਦੁੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
Seek the Sanctuary of the Saints, and fall at their feet; your suffering and darkness shall be removed. ||2||
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਤਰਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
Meeting with the humble beings, O Siblings of Destiny, the Messenger of Death is conquered.
ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੰੁਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ
The True Lord and Master has come to dwell within my mind; my Lord and Master has become Merciful.
ਹੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ ! ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ! (ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ) ਸੁਣੋ । ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆਂ ਹੀ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹੰੁਦੀ ਹੈ
O Saints, O Siblings of Destiny, listen: release comes only through the True Name.
(ਪਰ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਪੂਜਣੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਹਉਮੈ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਣਾ, ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਜਪਣਾ) ਹੀ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਤੀਰਥਾਂ (ਦਾ ਤੀਰਥ) ਹ
Worship the Feet of the Guru. Let the Name of the Lord be your sacred shrine of pilgrimage.
ਤੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਇਕੋ ਧਾਗੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਮੋਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਹਾਰ ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਪਾ ਲਈਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੇ (ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੀ) ਇਕੋ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਧਾਗੇ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਮਿਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ
They are woven into one texture, like pearls on a necklace around the neck.
ਪਰ ਇਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਮਨ ਨੂੰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ।੪।
In the Society of the Saints, peace wells up; the Gurmukhs take the Support of the Naam. ||4||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਤੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ
Joining with the humble Saints of the Lord, my actions bring prosperity, and I have obtained the Lord of Bliss as my Husband.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਤਾ ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਕਰਾਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜੰਞ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ ।੩।
The Lord is the Truest of the True, O my father. Joining with the humble servants of the Lord, the marriage party has been embellished. ||3||
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਉਸ ਨੰੂ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਨੌਂ ਹੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਮਿਲ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੰੂ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ (ਮਾਨੋ, ਜਗਤ ਦਾ) ਸਾਰਾ ਹੀ ਧਨ ਹ
He has attached me to the hem of His robe, and I have obtained the nine treasures. My Lord and Master has bestowed His Name, which is everything to me.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੱੁਖ ਨੰੂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ) ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਸਮਝਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੫।੧।੨।
Nanak instructs the Saints to teach, that the mind is imbued with loving devotion to the Lord. ||5||1||2||
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ (ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰਨ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ (ਕਦੇ) ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ
Without the humble Saints, O Siblings of Destiny, no one has obtained the Lord's Name.
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਭੀ ਮਿਥੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਅਸਰ ਹੇਠ ਹੀ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਤੇ ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਨਿਖਸਮੇ ਹੀ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੇਸੁਆ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦਾ
Those who do their deeds in ego are like the prostitute's son, who has no name.
ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ ਤੰੂ ਆਪਿ ਹੀ ਵਿਆਪ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ
You Yourself are contained in all places.
ਹੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੋ ! ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰੋ ਜੋ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਛਡਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Meditate on that Lord, O Saints; He shall rescue and save you. ||2||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਪਿਆਰਿਓ ! ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਸੁਣੋ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਤੇ ਤੁਰੋ)
O Saints of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny, listen, and hear the Lord's Teachings, through the True Guru.
ਇਸ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰੋ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਧੁਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਭਾਗ ਹੋਵੇ
Those who have good destiny pre-ordained and inscribed on their foreheads, grasp it and keep it enshrined in the heart.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਆਸਰਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ
I do not know any other than the Lord.
ਮੇਰੇ ਵਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਸੱਜਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਦੱਸ ਦੇਵੇ ।੧।
If only I could have the good fortune to meet some friendly Saint; he might show me the Way to my Beloved Lord God. ||1||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ ਜਨੋ ! ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ ! (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਮਿਲੋ
O servants of the Lord, O Saints, O my Siblings of Destiny, let us join together!
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਦੱਸ ਪਾਵੋ, ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਦੀ) ਭੁੱਖ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ।
Show me the way to my Lord God-I am so hungry for Him!
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ! ਆਵੋ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲ ਨਾਲ ਲਾ ਲਵੋ
Come, O Saints, and lead me to my Lord's Embrace.
ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣਾਵੋ
Recite to me the Sermon of my Beloved.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੋ । ਜੇਹੜਾ ਕੋਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੨।
I dedicate my mind to those Saints of the Lord, who chant the Word of the Guru's Bani with their mouths. ||2||
ਮੇਰੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ
By great good fortune, the Lord has led me to meet His Saint.
ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੰਤ-ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਕ) ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਮਿਟਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਧੀਰਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ।੧।
My thirst is not quenched, and I can find no peace, without the Blessed Vision of the Beloved Saint. ||1||
ਮੈਂ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੰਤ-ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ, ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to the Blessed Vision of the Beloved Saint Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪਏ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ
By good fortune, I have met the Saint Guru.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ) ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ।
I have found the Immortal Lord within the home of my own self.
ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ! ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ
He alone sings Your Ambrosial Naam, who is pleasing to Your Mind, O my Lord and Master.
ਹੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦਾ (ਸਹਾਰਾ) ਹੈਂ, ਸੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਜੀਊੁਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ (ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
You belong to the Saints, and the Saints belong to You. The minds of the Saints are attuned to You, O my Lord and Master. ||2||
ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ
The Saints play with You, O Sustainer of the World.
ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਤ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ-ਜਾਨ ਹੈਂ ।੩।
Your Saints are very dear to You. You are the breath of life of the Saints. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਭੱਜ ਗਿਆ ।
Happiness is obtained, and sorrow runs far away,
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਨੇ (ਜਦੋਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਿਆ (ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ)
when the Saints chant the Lord's Name.
(ਜਿਵੇਂ ਵਰਖਾ-ਰੱੁਤ ਆਉਣ ਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੀਂਹ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਠੰਢ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਬਹੁਤ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਉੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਭ ਲੋਕ ਅੰਨ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਵਰਖਾ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ
By His Command, the rain begins to fall.
ਜਦੋਂ ਸਤਸੰਗੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੰਦੇ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ,
The Saints and friends have met to chant the Naam.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰੋ ! ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ! ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੱਜਣੋ !
Come, dear friends, Saints and companions:
ਆਓ, ਅਸੀ ਰਲ ਕੇ ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੀਏ ।
let us join together and sing the Glorious Praises of the Inaccessible and Infinite Lord.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ! ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਵੈਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਭੀ (ਵੈਰ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹਨ ।
You have no hatred or vengeance; Your Saints are immaculate and pure.
ਤੇਰੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ (ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੀ) ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Seeing them, all sins depart.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਮਾਨਸਰੋਵਰ ਹੈ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ (ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਤੀਰਥ ਹੈ), ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਸਦਾ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਮ-ਮੋਤੀ) ਚੁਗਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
The Lord is the most pure and sublime Ocean. The Saintly Gurmukhs continually peck at the Naam, like swans pecking at pearls in the ocean.
ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ, ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ (ਆ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who chant the Naam, in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga.
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ) ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੰਤ ਬਣ ਗਏ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
The Beloved Saints were established by the True Lord. By great good fortune, the Blessed Vision of their Darshan is obtained. ||1||Pause||
ਜਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲੈ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਝੋਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਹ ਸਕਦਾ ।੨।
Entering the Sanctuary of the Supreme Lord God, how could anyone feel grief any longer? ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰ ਮੰਨਿਆਂ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਲੋੜਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ।੩।
Serving at the Feet of the Holy Saints, all desires are fulfilled. ||3||
ਚੇਤ ਵਿਚ (ਬਸੰਤ ਰੁੱਤ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਖਿੜੀ ਫੁਲਵਾੜੀ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰੀਏ (ਤਾਂ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਬਹੁਤ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।
In the month of Chayt, by meditating on the Lord of the Universe, a deep and profound joy arises.
ਪਰ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।
Meeting with the humble Saints, the Lord is found, as we chant His Name with our tongues.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ! (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਮੇਰੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ-ਰੱਜਵਾਂ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਨਸੀਬ ਹੋਵੇ ।
Nanak makes this prayer to God: "Please, come and unite me with Yourself."
(ਰੁੱਤ ਫਿਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਚੁਫੇਰੇ ਬਨਸਪਤੀ ਪਈ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਪਰ) ਜਿੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਵੈਸਾਖ ਦਾ ਮਹੀਨਾ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਹਰੀ ਸੰਤ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ।੩।
The month of Vaisaakh is beautiful and pleasant, when the Saint causes me to meet the Lord. ||3||
(ਇਹ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਕਿ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਧਾਣ ਵਿਚ ਸਹੈਤਾ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗੀ ਹਾਂ ।
The Saints are the helpers of the Lord's lovers; I fall and touch their feet.
(ਹੇ ਮਾਂ !) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸੁਖ-ਆਨੰਦ ਦੀ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਥਾਂ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ।
Without God, how can I find peace? There is nowhere else to go.
(ਸਿਆਲੀ ਰੁੱਤ ਦੀ ਕਰੜੀ ਸਰਦੀ ਪਿੱਛੋਂ ਬਹਾਰ ਫਿਰਨ ਤੇ ਫੱਗਣ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਲੋਕ ਹੋਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਮਨਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ) ਫੱਗਣ ਵਿਚ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਜਣ-ਹਰੀ ਪਰਤੱਖ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
In the month of Phalgun, bliss comes to those, unto whom the Lord, the Friend, has been revealed.
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਣ ਵਿਚ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ,
The Saints, the Lord's helpers, in their mercy, have united me with Him.
ਜੋ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਆਰਾਧਦੇ ਹਨ,
The Saints worship and adore Him forever and ever; He is the Forgiver of all.
ਜਿਸ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਨੇ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਜਿੰਦ ਸਾਜੀ ਹੈ (ਸਭ ਦਾ) ਸਰੀਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਸਭ ਨੂੰ) ਜਿੰਦ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ,
He fashioned the soul and the body, and by His Kindness, He bestowed the soul.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਦੱਸੋ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।
How can the Lord be obtained, O Saints? Seeing Him, my life is sustained.
ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿੱਛੁੜ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ) ਜੀਊਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ । (ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ !) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ (ਨਾਲ) ਮਿਲਾਵੋ (ਤਾਂ ਜੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਪੀ ਸਕਾਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Without the Lord, I cannot live, even for an instant. Unite me with the Guru, so that I may drink in the sublime essence of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ) ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਿਭਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਧੁਰੋਂ (ਆਪਣੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਦਾ) ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ,
Those who are blessed with such pre-ordained destiny are in love with the humble Saints.
ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਿਆ ਸਮਝੇ ਕਿ (ਬਚ ਕੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਜਾਂ ਬਚਾ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਣਾ) ਮਾਸ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ (ਦੰਦਾਂ ਦੀ) ਕੈਂਚੀ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਹੈ ।
- who thinks that the power lies in the flesh or the scissors? Everything is in the power of the Lord.
ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕ ਤਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਾਜ (ਹੀ) ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
In just the same way, when someone slanders the Saint, the Lord preserves the honor of His servant. ||3||
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਭਰਾਵੋ ! ਤੁਸੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਖੋਜ-ਭਾਲ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰੋ
Consider this well, O Saints, O Siblings of Destiny - search your own hearts, seek and find Him there.
(ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਪਰਤੱਖ ਦਿੱਸ ਪਏਗੀ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵੱਸ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ । ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕੋਲ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
The Beauty and the Light of the Lord, Har, Har, is present in all. In all places, the Lord dwells near by, close at hand. ||2||
ਹੇ (ਸਤਸੰਗੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ) ਸਹੇਲੀਏ ! ਆ, ਅਸੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਟੂਣੇ-ਜਾਦੂ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰੀਏ (ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਕਰੀਏ),
Come, O sisters - let's make virtue our charms.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣੀਏ ।
Let's join the Saints, and enjoy the pleasure of the Lord's Love.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ! ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਰਾ (ਅਸਲੀ) ਸੱਜਣ ਮਿੱਤਰ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਭੀ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਹੀ) ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ ।
Meeting the Saints, O my Lord of the Universe, I have found my Lord God, my Companion, my Best Friend.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ! (ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ) ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਭੀ) ਉਹ ਹਰੀ ਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੀ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ-ਰੂਪ) ਰਾਤ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਬੀਤ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ।੨।
The Lord, the Life of the World, has come to meet me, O my Lord of the Universe. The night of my life now passes in peace. ||2||
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੱਜਣ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿਉ । ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਸਦੇ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ।
O Saints, unite me with my Lord God, my Best Friend; my mind and body are hungry for Him.
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਧੀਰਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਫੜ ਸਕਦਾ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਦਾ ਦਰਦ ਉੱਠ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।
I cannot survive without seeing my Beloved; deep within, I feel the pain of separation from the Lord.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ! ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੋ,
O Dear Saints, sing the Glorious Praises of my Lord God.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗ ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
As Gurmukh, chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, O very fortunate ones.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਚਾਉ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ ।
How shall I behold my Lord God? My mind and body yearn for Him.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ) ਤਾਂਘ ਲੱਗ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿਉ ।
Unite me with the Lord, Dear Saints; my mind is in love with Him.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ) ਦੀ ਬੜੀ ਆਸ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ।
Within my mind and body, there is such a great longing for God, the Lord of the Universe.
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਓਹ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿਉ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Unite me with the Lord, Dear Saints. God, the Lord of the Universe, is so close to me.
ਗੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਸੰਤ ਸੁਜਾਨ ਸੁਘੜ ਹਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Saintly Guru has united me with the All-knowing and All-seeing Lord.
ਤੇ ਤਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੨।
I am a sacrifice to the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਦਲੀਲਾਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਿਆਣਪਾਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ,
Give up all your clever tricks and devices,
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈ ਜਾ (ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ) ਦਰਗਹ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਣ ਪਾਏਂਗਾ ।੧।
and hold tight to the Feet of the Saints. ||2||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਜੋ (ਉਪਦੇਸ਼) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਹਰੇਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Whatever the Guru gives, is useful to the mind.
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ (ਇਸ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ) ਸਦਾ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਭਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਮਝ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Whatever the Saint does - accept that as True. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੱਸੋ (ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਏ ।
Show me that peace, O Saints,
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਬਣਾ ਦਿਓ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
which will quench my thirst and satisfy my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ! (ਤੇਰੀ ਰਚੀ) ਮਾਇਆ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਉਤੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ),
Maya torments us in so many ways.
ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਆਸਰੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
But the Saints live under Your Protection, God. ||1||Pause||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਉ
I salute and applaud the Society of the Saints.
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾਂ (ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ) ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ) ।
The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is the Support of the breath of life of His servant.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਆਖ—(ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ) ਮੇਰੀ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸੁਣ ਲਈ
Says Nanak, the Lord has heard my prayer;
ਤੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ) ।੪।੨੧।੯੦।
by the Grace of the Saints, I dwell in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||21||90||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ
By the Grace of the Saints, one chants the Lord's Name.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਦਾ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
By the Grace of the Saints, one sings the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises.
(ਇਸਦਾ ਨਤੀਜਾ ਇਹ ਨਿਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ
By the Grace of the Saints, all pains are erased.
(ਹੇ ਭੈਣ!) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ।
The loving desire to meet my Beloved has arisen within my mind.
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜੇ) ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ (ਗੁਰੂ-) ਸੰਤ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰੀਂ ਲੱਗਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਅਗੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਾਂ (ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇ) ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I touch His Feet, and offer my prayer to Him. If only I had the great good fortune to meet the Saint. ||1||Pause||
(ਹੇ ਭੈਣ!) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।
My mind yearns to behold the Lord in meditation.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਕੁਲ ਹੋਈ ਮੈਂ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਚਿਤਾਰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹਾਂ । (ਹੇ ਭੈਣ! ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਸੰਤ (ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ) ਨੇੜੇ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I think of Him, I hope and thirst for Him, day and night; is there any Saint who may bring Him near me? ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੇ?
How may I meet my Master, the King, the Lord of the Universe?
ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਸੰਤ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਰਸਤਾ ਦੱਸ ਦੇਵੇ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Is there any Saint, who can bestow such celestial peace, and show me the Way to Him? ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਵਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਗਤ (ਦਾ ਮੋਹ) ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈ । ਤਦ ਮੈਂ (ਜਗਤ ਦਾ) ਮਾਣ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਹਾਂ ।
The Guru has shown me that this is the way of the world; I have abandoned the dwelling of pride, and entered Your Sanctuary.
ਗੁਰੂ-ਸੰਤ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਣ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਦੱਸ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੱਕੀ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ ।੪।੬।੧੨੭।
The Saint has shown me the Path of God; slave Nanak has implanted devotional worship and the Praise of the Lord. ||4||6||127||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੰਤ ਬਣਾਣ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਰਚੀ ਹੈ ।
For the sake of the Saints, God has established the three worlds.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਇਸ ਅਸਲੀਅਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੮।
One who understands his own soul, contemplates the essence of reality. ||8||
ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਦਾ ਅੱਤ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
The slanderer of the Saint is the worst evil-doer.
ਇਕ ਪਲਕ ਭਰ ਭੀ (ਅੱਤ ਚੁੱਕਣ ਵਲੋਂ) ਆਰਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈਂਦਾ ।
The slanderer of the Saint has not even a moment's rest.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਯਾਦ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
One who focuses his conscious mind on the Lord God
ਉਹ ਸੰਤ ਹੈ, ਸੁਖੀ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਕਦੇ) ਘਾਬਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ।
- that Saint is at peace; he does not waver.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ,
In the eye of the Saint, everything is God.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੇ (ਖ਼ਿਆਲ) ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਹੀ (ਉਠਦੇ ਹਨ) ।
In the heart of the Saint, everything is Dharma.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਵਲੋਂ ਫਿਟਕਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ) ਉਹ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ
Those who are cursed by the Saints will continue wandering aimlessly.
ਜੋ ਰੱੁਖ ਮੁਢੋਂ ਪੁਟਿਆ ਜਾਏ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਟਾਹਣ ਭੀ ਸੱੁਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧੨।
When the tree is cut off at its roots, the branches wither and die. ||12||
ਸੌਣਾ ਕੀਹ ਤੇ ਜਾਗਣਾ ਕੀਹ, ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹਾਲਤਾਂ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ
Who is asleep, and who is awake? Those who are Gurmukh are approved.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਕ ਦਮ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿੱਸਰਦਾ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣ) ਸੰਪੂਰਣ ਤੇ ਉੱਤਮ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਸੁੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਭੀ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੁੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਜਾਗਦੇ ਭੀ । ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸੁੱਤੇ ਜਾਂ ਜਾਗਦੇ ਦਿੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ) ।
Those who do not forget the Lord, with each and every breath and morsel of food, are the perfect and famous persons.
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਫਿਟਕਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ) ਭਟਕਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Those who are cursed by the Saints wander around lost.
(ਇਹ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਜੋ ਰੁੱਖ ਮੁੱਢੋਂ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਜਾਏ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਟਾਹਣ ਭੀ ਸੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੩੧।

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਹ ਲੈਂਦਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਖਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਕਦੇ ਰੱਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ ਮੰਤਰ (ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ) ਹੈ;
Those who do not forget the Lord, with each breath and morsel of food, whose minds are filled with the Mantra of the Lord's Name
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਮੁਬਾਰਿਕ ਹਨ, ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੰਤ ਹੈ ।੨।
- they alone are blessed; O Nanak, they are the perfect Saints. ||1||
ਅਜੇਹਾ (ਰੱਬ ਦੀ) ਪਛਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ,
One who recognizes the Lord is very rare; his mind is pierced through with the Love of the Lord.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਅਜੇਹਾ ਸੰਤ (ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ) ਜੋੜਨ ਤੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ) ਸਿੱਧਾ ਰਾਹ ਵਿਖਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
Such a Saint is the Uniter, O Nanak - he straightens out the path. ||2||
(ਹੇ ਮਾਂ!) ਜਦੋਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਈ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆ ਭਟਕਣਾਂ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ, ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਅਡੋਲ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਹਾਂ ।
My wandering has ended, since I have realized the One and Only Lord; now, I have come to dwell in the eternal place.
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਮੱੁਕ ਗਈ ਹੈ ।੨।
Your Saints are the Saving Grace of the world; beholding the Blessed Vision of their Darshan, I remain satisfied. ||2||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਵਿਚ) ਇਕ ਪਲ ਭੀ ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਭੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਇਉਂ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਕਦੇ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ
I cannot endure one day, even one instant without Him.
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬੜੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
My mind's desire for the Blessed Vision of His Darshan is so great. Is there any Saint who can lead me to meet my Beloved? ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੀਰ! (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜੁਗਤੀ ਸੁਣ
Listen, to the way of life of the Saints, O my Siblings of Destiny;
(ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਇਤਨਾ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵਡੱਪਣ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
their praises cannot be described. ||1||Pause||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਤੇ੍ਰਲ ਭਿੱਜੀ ਰਾਤ ਵਿਚ (ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ) ਤਾਰੇ ਡਲ੍ਹਕਦੇ ਹਨ (ਤਿਵੇਂ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਭਿੱਜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ-ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਗੁਣ ਲਿਸ਼ਕਾਂ ਮਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ) ।
The night is wet with dew, and the stars twinkle in the heavens.
ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
The Saints remain wakeful; they are the Beloveds of my Lord.
ਕੋਈ ਵੱਡਾ ਗਿਆਨਵਾਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਸੰਤ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ) ਖਸਮ ਬਣ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।
My Husband is the Great One of discriminating wisdom; He alone is called a Saint.
ਉਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਪਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੇ ਸਮਰਥ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ । ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਢੁਕ ਸਕਦਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ) ।੩।
He stands by me, and no one else comes near me. ||3||
ਜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਰੀਰ ਤਿਆਗੇ, ਪਰ ਮਨੋਂ ਰਹੇ ਕਠੋਰ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਰਕ (ਵਿਚ ਪੈਣਾ) ਛੁੱਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ।
If the hard-hearted sinner dies in Benaares, he cannot escape hell.
(ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਮਗਹਰ ਦੀ ਸ੍ਰਾਪੀ ਹੋਈ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਜੇ ਜਾ ਮਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਗੋਂ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਤਾਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
And even if the Lord's Saint dies in the cursed land of Haramba, still, he saves all his family. ||3||
ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ—ਅਸਲ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੈ,
Says Ravi Daas, he alone is wise, who knows this:
ਜੋ ਇਹ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਵਿੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।੪।੨।
there is no difference between the Saints and the Infinite Lord. ||4||2||
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਗੁਰੂ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੈ
O friend, the Saintly Guru is such a helper.
ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਦੇ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Meeting Him, the bonds of Maya are released, and one never forgets the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੰਤ (ਸੁਭਾਉ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
That Saint, unto whom the Lord of Life, the Great Giver, extends His Mercy - he alone sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਉਸ ਮਨੱੁਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਰ-ਭਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨
His soul is absorbed in loving devotional worship; his mind is pleasing to the Supreme Lord God. ||2||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਮਹਾਂ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸੰਤ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The True Guru is the Lord's Saint, the True Being, who chants the Bani of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ ।੧।
Whoever chants it, and listens to it, is liberated; I am forever a sacrifice to him. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਸੰਤ ਗੁਰੂ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਵੱਡੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਉੱਚੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਬਣ ਗਏ ਹਨ ।
Those who find such humble, Holy Saints, are the greatest of the great persons.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨ ਧੂੜ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਹੈ ।੨।
I beg for the dust of their feet; I long for the longing for God, my Lord and Master. ||2||
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰੋ । (ਇਸ ਜਾਪ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਸੰਤ ਹਰੀ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ
O Saints of the Lord, chant the chant of the Lord's Name; the Lord's Saints walk with the Lord.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਚੋਜ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਚੋਜੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩
Those who meditate on the Lord, become the Lord; the playful, wondrous Lord meets them. ||3||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਦੋਂ ਤਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ, ਇਹ (ਲਾਲਚ ਦੇ ਪੰਜੇ ਤੋਂ) ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ
As long as the doubts of the mind are not removed, liberation is not found.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—(ਪਹਿਰਾਵਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਗਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣ ਜਾਈਦਾ) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੰਤ ਹੈ ਭਗਤ ਹੈ ।੨।੫।੩੬।
Says Nanak, he alone is a Saint, a devotee, and a humble servant of the Lord, to whom the Lord and Master is merciful. ||2||5||36||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ (ਨਿੱਤ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ (ਹੀ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀਲੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ) ਉਚੇਚੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਸਦਾ ‘ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਇਆ, ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਇਆ’ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ (ਮੇਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਬੀਤਦੀ) ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ।
I have tried so many things to acquire the wealth of Maya, and to cherish it in my mind; I have passed my life constantly crying out, "Mine, mine!"
(ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰਾ ਜੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਅਜੇਹਾ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਜੇਹੜਾ (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਸੋਚ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇ, ਤੇ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਵੇ ।੨।
Is there any such Saint, who would meet with me, take away my anxiety, and lead me to enshrine love for my Lord and Master. ||2||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੀ (ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਕਰਨੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ
The Saints do not know any other.
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ) ਸਦਾ ਬੇ-ਪਰਵਾਹ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
They are carefree, ever in the Lord's Love; the Lord and Master is on their side. ||Pause||
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ (ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ) ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਆਪਣਾ ਧਨ ਉਸ ਸੰਤ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂ
The Lord's Saint is my life and wealth. I am his water-carrier.
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਭਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ । ਭਰਾ, ਮਿੱਤਰ, ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਜਿੰਦ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਭੀ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗੇ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
He is dearer to me than all my siblings, friends and children. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੱਛੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਜਤਨ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਊਂਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦੀ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੰਤ ਭੀ ਜੀਊ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ,
As the fish cannot survive at all without water,
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ।੭।
the Saint cannot live without the Lord. Without the Lord's Name, he dies. ||7||
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤ-ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਈਆਂ,
I have found the Saintly Guru, meditating on God. All my desires have been fulfilled.
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਖਿੜੇ-ਮੱਥੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ, ਚਿਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਛੁੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ।
The fever of egotism has been dispelled, and I am always happy. I have met God, from whom I was separated for so long.
(ਸੋ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਹ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੀ ਹੈ) ਤੁਸੀ ਕੋਈ ਧਿਰ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਦੇ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਨਾਹ ਕਰਿਓ, ਸੰਤ ਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਇੱਕ-ਰੂਪ ਹਨ ।
Let no one slander the Saints, because the Saints and the Lord are as one.
ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਆਖ—ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਉਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ-ਸੰਤ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪੂਰਨ ਗਿਆਨਵਾਨ ਹੈ ।੪।੫।
Says Kabeer, I have found that Guru, whose Name is Clear Understanding. ||4||5||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
I worship the Perfect Guru in adoration; He has become merciful to me.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ) ਰਸਤਾ ਦੱਸ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਮ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਉਹ ਮਾਨਸਕ ਬੰਧਨ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੇਹੜੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਲਿਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ।੧।
The Saint has shown me the Way, and the noose of Death has been cut away. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ-ਵਾਰਤਾ (ਸਦਾ) ਸੁਣੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।
I listen to God's Teachings from the Saints.
ਉਥੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਥਾ-ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਕੀਰਤਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ-ਹੁਲਾਰਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਰੌ ਸਦਾ ਚਲੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
The Lord's Sermon, the Kirtan of His Praises and the songs of bliss perfectly resonate, day and night. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਤਾਣੇ-ਪੇਟੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਇਕ-ਮਿਕ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜਾਂਞੀਆਂ ਮਾਂਞੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਆਦਲੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਛਕਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਤਿਵੇਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਭੋਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Her light blends with His Light, through and through, and everyone enjoys the Nectar of the Lord's Name.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ—(ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਹੈ) ਗੁਰੂ-ਸੰਤ ਨੇ (ਸਰਨ ਪਈ) ਸਾਰੀ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ ।੩।
Prays Nanak, the Saints have totally united me with God, the All-powerful Cause of causes. ||3||
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ । (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਸੰਤ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
One who realizes the Word of the Shabad, obtains the sublime essence of the Lord; such a Saint is lofty and sublime, the greatest of the great.
ਅਜੇਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਵਧਾਈ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਘਟਾਇਆਂ ਉਹ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਇਕ ਤਿਲ ਜਿਤਨੀ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਘਟ ਸਕਦੀ ।੩।
The Lord Himself magnifies the glory of that humble servant. No one can lessen or decrease that glory, not even a bit. ||3||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਹੈ ਸੰਤ ।
He alone is a Saint, who is pleasing to the Lord.
ਸੰਤ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਅਤੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
The Saints, and God, have only one job to do. ||1||Pause||
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਭਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ) ਸੁਣਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ,
When you meet a Saint, talk to him and listen.
ਤੇ (ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੰੁਝਲਾਂ) ਪੁੱਛਣੀਆਂ ਚਾਹੀਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ । ਪਰ ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਭੈੜਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਉੱਥੇ ਚੁੱਪ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਹੀ ਠੀਕ ਹੈ ।੧।
Meeting with an unsaintly person, just remain silent. ||1||
ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, (ਤਾ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ ।
Take pity on me, O Lord of the World, O Great Giver; let me fall at the feet of the Saints.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਕੱਟ ਦਿਆਂ, ਕੱਟ ਵੱਢ ਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿਆਂ, ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆ ਮਿਲੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਮੈਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਵਾਂ ਉਸ ਰਸਤੇ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਸ ਰਸਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਸੰਤ ਆ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੇ ।੪।੩।
I would cut off my head, and cut it into pieces, O Nanak, and set it down for the Saints to walk upon. ||4||3||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸੰਤ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਨਜ਼ਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਕਬੂਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Whatever the Lord's Saint does, is approved and accepted.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਮੈਂ) ਦਾਸ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੪।੧੧।੨੨।
Slave Nanak is a sacrifice to him. ||4||11||22||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸੰਤ-ਜਨਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਇਹ ਸੱਚੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ।
Listen to the true story of the Saints.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਉਹ ਕੁਝ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ ।
They speak only of what they see with their eyes.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਆਦਰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਸਾਧੂ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਸੁਜਾਨ ਸੰਤ ਹੈ ।
He alone is holy, a Saint, a truly wise person, who is accepted by the Dear Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ—ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਉਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੩।
Prays Nanak, they alone realize You, unto whom You show Mercy. ||3||
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਸੰਤ-ਸਭਾ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਿਰ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਧਰ ਦਿਆਂ, ਤਨ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਭੇਟਾ ਰੱਖ ਦਿਆਂ (ਤਾਕਿ) ਸੁਖੈਨ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਸਕਾਂ;
I cut off my head, and offer it to Him; I dedicate my body and mind to Him.
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਰੱਬ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
O Nanak, meeting with the Saints, Truth is obtained, and one is spontaneously blessed with distinction. ||1||
ਉਹ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ,
The Saint, the True Guru, has united me with the Lord. He placed His hand on my forehead.
ਉਹ ਵੱਡਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹੈ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ ।
The Guru led me to meet the greatest Lord and Master; He saved the whole world.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲ ਪਵੇਗਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਲੋਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਐਸਾ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ) ਜੋ ਆਪ ਅਡੋਲ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਵੇ, ਸੁਖ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ?
Is there any Saint, with intuitive peace and poise deep within, unto whom I might offer my meditation and austerities as payment?
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਸਾਕੀ (-ਸੰਤ) ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ-ਰੂਪ) ਨਸ਼ਾ ਪਿਲਾਏ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੀ ਇਕ ਬੰੂਦ ਦੇ ਬਦਲੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਤਨ ਮਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂ, ਮੈਂ (ਜੋਗੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਪੰਡਿਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ) ਜਪ ਤੇ ਤਪ ਉਸ ਸੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਦਲਾਲੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਆਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I dedicate my body and mind to whoever gives me even a drop of this wine from such a vat. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੰਤ-ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਦੀ ਜਾਚ ਸਿਖਾਈ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ—)
The Guru, the Saint, has shown me the Lord's Path. The Guru has shown me the way to walk on the Lord's Path.
ਹੇ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖੋ! ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਵਲ-ਛਲ ਦੂਰ ਕਰੋ, ਨਿਰ-ਛਲ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਕਰੋ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਨਿਹਾਲ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
Cast out deception from within yourself, O my Gursikhs, and without deception, serve the Lord. You shall be enraptured, enraptured, enraptured. ||1||
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਣ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ । ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਵਾਲੇ ਭਲੇ ਬਚਨ ਹੀ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Remain with the Holy man, the Saint of the Saints, who chants the Lord's Praises for the benefit of all.
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਕੌਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਖਿੜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਸੰਤ ਕਿਸੇ ਸੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੬।
Meeting the Saint of Saints, the mind blossoms forth, like the lotus, exalted by obtaining the water. ||6||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਵਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Redeemer of sinners, who carries us across; I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice to Him.
(ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਹੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਕੋਈ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ ।੧।
If only I could meet with such a Saint, who would inspire me to meditate on the Lord, Har, Har, Har. ||1||
ਇਹ ਜਗਤ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਰਾ (ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ), ਕਦੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਗੁਆਚਣ ਤੇ ਇਹ) ਘਬਰਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਦੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੇ) ਇਹ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਬਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
The drama of the world is bad; it brings sadness and then happiness.
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ ਨਾਹ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਰਜੇਵਾਂ; ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਖੁੰਝਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਲੁਟਾ ਬੈਠਦਾ ਹੈ ।੬।
One who does not meet the Saint does not have faith or contentment; he wanders just as he pleases. ||6||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ) ਇਹ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਚਾਲ ਹੈ,
This is the unique way of the Saints;
ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ (ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ) ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ ।
they behold the Supreme Lord God with them.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੇ ਜੀਵ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਾਲ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉਚਾਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ।
All chant the Name of the Creator Lord, Har, Har; countless, uncountable beings meditate on the Lord.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਸੰਖਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਜੀਵ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਉਚਾਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ) ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ।
Blessed, blessed are those Saints and Holy People of the Lord, who are pleasing to the Creator Lord God.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਸਦਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The Lord's Saint is the embodiment of the Lord; within his heart is the Name of the Lord.
ਪਰ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਭਾਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ (ਧੁਰੋਂ) ਚੰਗੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ (ਦਾ ਲੇਖ) ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
One who has such destiny inscribed on his forehead, follows the Guru's Teachings, and contemplates the Name of the Lord within his heart. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਠੰਢ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Meeting the Saintly True Guru, I have found peace and tranquility. Sins and painful mistakes are totally erased and taken away.
(ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ) ਜਿੰਦ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖ ਲਈਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
The Divine Light of the soul radiates forth, gazing upon the Presence of the Immaculate Lord God. ||1||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ, ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ । ਮੈਂ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਸਤ-ਸੰਗੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।
Be kind and show Your Mercy, O Dear Lord; I beg for the dust of the feet of the Sat Sangat.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ।੪।੧।
O Nanak, meeting with the Saints, the Lord is attained. The Lord's humble servant obtains the Presence of the Lord. ||4||1||
ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਮੈਂ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰਾਗਣ ਹੋਈ ਪਈ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਹ) ਸੋਚ ਸੋਚਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਦੋਂ ਕਰਾਂਗੀ ।
I think thoughts of Him; I miss the Love of my Beloved. When will I obtain the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan?
(ਇਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਧੀਰਜ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ) ਮੈਂ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਧੀਰਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ । ਹੇ ਵੀਰ! ਕੋਈ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਭੀ ਸੰਤ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ? ।੧।
I try, but this mind is not encouraged. Is there any Saint who can lead me to God? ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪੂਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਭਲੇ ਸੰਤ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Those whose hearts are filled with my True Guru - those Saints are good and noble in every way.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਖਿੜ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੧।
Seeing them, my mind blossoms forth in bliss; I am forever a sacrifice to them. ||1||
ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣੋ! ਤੁਸੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਆਓ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
O friends, O Saints, come to me. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣੋ! (ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਕੇ (ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, (ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord with pleasure and joy, the sins will be erased and thrown away. ||1||
(ਪਰ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ) ਸੰਤ ਕੋ੍ਰੜਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Out of millions, it is rare that such a Saint is seen.
ਨਾਨਕ (ਤਾਂ) ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ (ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ) ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੮।
O Nanak, with him, we are carried across. ||8||
ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਮਾਇਕ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤ-ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਦਾ ਹੈ;
Kabeer, it is good to perform selfless service for two - the Saints and the Lord.
ਇਕ ਸੰਤ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ—(ਮੁਕਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧੬੪।
The Lord is the Giver of liberation, and the Saint inspires us to chant the Naam. ||164||
ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਸੰਤ ਆਪਣਾ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਦਾ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਭੈੜੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਹ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਰਹੇ ।
Kabeer, the Saint does not forsake his Saintly nature, even though he meets with millions of evil-doers.
ਚੰਦਨ ਦਾ ਬੂਟਾ ਸੱਪਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਘਿਰਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਅੰਦਰਲੀ ਠੰਢਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਤਿਆਗਦਾ ।੧੭੪।
Even when sandalwood is surrounded by snakes, it does not give up its cooling fragrance. ||174||
