ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ) ਦਾ ਯਕੀਨ ਬੱਝ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ,
One whose heart is filled with faith in God
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਚਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ;
- the Essence of spiritual wisdom is revealed to His mind.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ (ਸੱਚਮੁਚ ਹੋਂਦ ਵਾਲਾ) ਮੰਨ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ,
With heart-felt faith, they believe in Him.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਇੱਕ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ ।੩।
O Nanak, they realize the One, the Creator Lord. ||3||
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਦਵਾਈਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਮੰਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ ਹੈ
The Mul Mantra, the Root Mantra, is the only cure for the mind; I have installed faith in God in my mind.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਰਧਾ ਧਾਰ ਲਈ ਹੈ, ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਸਦਾ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨
Nanak ever longs for the dust of the Lord's feet; again and again, he is a sacrifice to the Lord. ||2||16||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਭੀ, ਘਰੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਭੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ
At home, and outside, I place my trust in You; You are always with Your humble servant.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਭੀ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ।੧।
Bestow Your Mercy, O my Beloved God, that I may chant the Lord's Name with love. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਅਟੱਲ ਸਰਧਾ (ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ) ਹੈ,
Those who have true faith in their minds,
ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ-ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵੇਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
continually behold the Glory of the Lord; they are forever happy and blissful. ||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਿਰੇ ਆਖਣ ਸੁਣਨ ਨਾਲ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਕੋਈ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ । ਸਰਧਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਆਖਣ ਸੁਣਨ ਦਾ) ਕੋਈ ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ।
By speaking and listening, tranquility and peace are not found at all. What can anyone learn without faith?
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਜ਼ਬਾਨੀ ਤਾਂ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਥੇਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ (ਪਦਾਰਥ) ਲੋੜਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ) ਕਾਲਖ ਲੱਗੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।੧।
One who renounces God and longs for another - his face is blackened with filth. ||1||
