ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ
Those who do not have the Assets of Truth-how can they find peace?
ਜੇ ਨਿੱਤ ਖੋਟਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਹੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੀਏ, ਤਾਂ ਮਨ ਭੀ ਖੋਟਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਭੀ ਖੋਟਾ (ਭਾਵ, ਖੋਟ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)
By dealing their deals of falsehood, their minds and bodies become false.
ਜੇ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜੁ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੋਇਆ)
All things are received if the One is obtained.
ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ।
The precious gift of this human life becomes fruitful when one chants the True Word of the Shabad.
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਸਲ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਸਿਰੇ ਚਾੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਇਥੋਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
He finds the merchandise within his own home, and departs after arranging his affairs.
ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਵਪਾਰੀ ਸਤਸੰਗੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੋਚ-ਮੰਡਲ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ
So trade with the true traders, and as Gurmukh, contemplate God. ||3||
ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ ਕਰਨ ਆਏ ਹੇ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ! ਸੇਵਕ-ਭਾਵ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਹਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਰਗਟ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ
They love to serve, O my merchant friend, and through the Guru, they are illuminated by the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
(ਜੀਵ-ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਇਹ) ਵਣਜ ਵਡਿਆਉਣ-ਜੋਗ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਭੀ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੌਦਾ ਲੱਦਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ।
Blessed, blessed is the trade of those traders who have loaded the merchandise of the Wealth of the Lord.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ
The faces of the Gurmukhs are radiant in the Court of the Lord; they come to the Lord and merge with Him.
ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Doubt and duality are burned away by the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਹਰ ਭਟਕਣੋਂ ਰੋਕ ਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੬।
Within his body, he deals and trades, and obtains the Treasure of the True Name. ||6||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਵੋ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਖੇਤੀ ਨੂੰ, ਵਣਜ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰਕ ਨਿਰਬਾਹ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਬਣਾਂਦੇ ਹੋ ।
My farming and my trading are by the Support of the Name.
(ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ) ਪਾਪ ਜਾਂ ਪੁੰਨ (ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਲਈ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਬੀਜ ਦੀ ਪੋਟਲੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । (ਉਹ ਚੰਗਾ ਮੰਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਰਮ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ-ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ।
The seeds of sin and virtue are bound together.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਅਸੀ ਜੀਵ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਸ਼ਾਹੂਕਾਰ) ਦੇ (ਭੇਜੇ ਹੋਏ) ਵਪਾਰੀ ਹਾਂ ।
I am the merchant, the peddler of the Lord.
ਉਹ ਸ਼ਾਹ (ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ) ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਕੇ (ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I trade in the merchandise and capital of the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||
ਪਰ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਜੀਵ-ਵਣਜਾਰੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਵਣਜ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਲਹਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਾਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Those traders who trade in other merchandise, are caught up in the endless waves of the pain of Maya.
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੀ ਕੀਹ ਵੱਸ ?) ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਵਣਜ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਫਲ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ।੩।
According to the business in which the Lord has placed them, so are the rewards they obtain. ||3||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
People trade in the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, when the God shows His Mercy and bestows it.
ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹਰੀ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਇਹ) ਦਾਤਿ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਨਾਮ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਾਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁਬੱਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਢ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The drowning person is lifted up and out of the terrifying world-ocean; the Great Giver gives the gift of the Lord's Name.
ਜੋ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਮ (ਦੀ ਰਾਸਿ) ਨਾਲ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਨ,
Blessed, blessed are those bankers who trade the Naam.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਅਜੇਹਾ) ਵਣਜ-ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰੋ, ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਦਾ ਲਾਭ ਖੱਟ ਸਕੋ, ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਪਛਤਾਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ ।
Make your deals, and obtain the true merchandise, or else you shall regret it later.
ਮਾੜੇ ਕੰਮ ਛੱਡੋ, ਗੁਣ ਗ੍ਰਹਣ ਕਰੋ । ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਸਲ (ਖੱਟੀ) ਖੱਟੋ ।੭।
Abandon your vices, and practice virtue, and you shall obtain the essence of reality. ||7||
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ) ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਵਣਜ ਹੈ, ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੋ ਇਹ ਵਣਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Blessed, blessed is the trader and the trade; how wonderful is the Banker, the Guru!
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ (ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ—ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਧੁਰੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਤੋਂ (ਇਸ ਸਰਮਾਏ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਦਾ) ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
O servant Nanak, they alone obtain the Guru, who have such pre-ordained destiny written upon their foreheads. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ (ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ) ਵਪਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਏ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਲਈ ਭਲਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
All dealings of the Gurmukh are good, if they are accomplished with poise and grace.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਚਾਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਪੀਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ—ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦੀ ਖੱਟੀ । ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਲੈਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ—ਇਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦਾ ਲਾਭ ਹੈ ।
Night and day, he repeats the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and he earns his profits, drinking in the subtle essence of the Lord.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿਰੀ ਸੰਸਾਰਕ ਖੇਤੀ ਨਿਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰਕ ਵਣਜ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਥੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤੇ੍ਰਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਟਦੀ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ।
The self-willed manmukhs have grown weary of this farming and trade; their hunger and thirst will not go away.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਬੀਜ ਬੀਜਿਆ ਕਰ ।੨।
O Nanak, plant the seed of the Name within your mind, and adorn yourself with the True Word of the Shabad. ||2||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਖੇਤੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ ਆਪਣਾ ਵਣਜ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
All farming and trading is by Hukam of His Will; surrendering to the Lord's Will, glorious greatness is obtained.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Under Guru's Instruction, one comes to understand the Lord's Will, and by His Will, he is united in His Union.
ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਾਡੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਨ ਕੇ ਕਦੇ ਬੇ-ਪੜਦਾ ਨਾਹ ਹੋਵਾਂਗੇ, ਤੇ ਹੋਰ (ਸੁੰਦਰ) ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕਾਂ ਪਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਸਾਡੀ ਚਾਹ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ।
The Lord's Name is my clothing; wearing it, I shall never be naked again, and my desire to wear other clothing is gone.
ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਾਡਾ ਵਣਜ, ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਾਡਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਮੁਖ਼ਤਿਆਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ
The Lord's Name is my business, the Lord's Name is my commerce; the True Guru has blessed me with its use.
ਜਗਤ-ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ (ਜਗਤ-ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਸਿ-ਪੂੰਜੀ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਭੀ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਾਹੂਕਾਰ ਹੈ ।
My Beloved Himself is the trader in this world; He Himself is the true banker.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵਣਜ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੈ ।੧।
My Beloved Himself is the trade and the trader; He Himself is the true credit. ||1||
ਉਹ ਤੱਕੜੀ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਤੱਕੜੀ ਦੀ ਸੂਈ (ਬੋਦੀ) ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵੱਟੇ ਨਾਲ (ਇਸ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ) ਤੋਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ) ।
God Himself is the balance scale, He Himself is the weigher, and He Himself weighs with the weights.
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਇਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਵਣਜ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਸ਼ਾਹਕਾਰ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਵਣਜ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵਣਜ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ
He Himself is the banker, He Himself is the trader, and He Himself makes the trades.
ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਾ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ-ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਵਣਜ-ਵਪਾਰ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
In merchandise and trade, the merchant is trading.
ਤੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਇਸ ਦੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਸਾਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਦੀ ।੧੬।
Without the Name, how can one find honor and nobility? ||16||
ਨਿਰੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋਛੇ ਵਣਜ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ (ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ) ਘਾਟਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The false dealings lead only to loss.
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਉਹ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The trades of the Gurmukh are pleasing to God.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਆਪਣੇ) ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ਬਣਾ, ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਬੀਜ ਪਾ ।
This body is the earth, and the infinite Shabad is the seed.
ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ) ਵਣਜ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ ।
Deal and trade with the True Name alone.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ (ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦਾ) ਵਣਜ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
The Gurmukh trades, and understands his own self.
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ) ਪਰਾਏ ਨੂੰ ਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੂੰ (ਇਉਂ) ਪਛਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ (ਕਿ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਦੂਜਾ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਉਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ।
He knows no other than the One Lord.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ) ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਵਣਜ ਵਾਪਾਰ (ਆਦਿਕ ਕੋਈ ਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਕਾਰ-ਵਿਹਾਰ) ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Everyone deals and trades.
ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਰਾ ਘਾਟਾ (ਹੀ ਘਾਟਾ) ਹੈ,
Without the Name, all the world loses.
ਹੇ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਨੇਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਵਾਲੀਏ ਭੋਲੀਏ ਜੁਆਨ ਕੁੜੀਏ!ਮੇਰੀ ਇਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਭੇਤ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ।
O bride with deer-like eyes, listen to the words of deep and infinite wisdom.
