(ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ !) ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਵਡਿਆਈਆਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀਆਂ
What good is worldly greatness?
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਮੂੰਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ) ਰੰਗ ਫਿਕਾ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਰੰਗ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
All the pleasures of Maya are tasteless and insipid. In the end, they shall all fade away.
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ !) ਇਹ ਜਗਤ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਸਦਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ
What sort of a resting place is this world?
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਸਰਧਾ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਲਈ) ਖ਼ਰਚ (ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪੱਲੇ) ਬੰਨ੍ਹ, ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹੁ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Doing deeds of faith, pack up the supplies for your journey, and remain committed to the Name. ||1||Pause||
(ਪਰ ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਹ ਵੱਸ ?) ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਗ਼ੀਚੀ ਦੇ (ਸਮਾਨ) ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ (ਇਸ ਬਗ਼ੀਚੀ ਦਾ) ਮਾਲੀ ਹੈ ।
This world is a garden, and my Lord God is the Gardener.
ਹਰੇਕ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਰਵਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ।
He always takes care of it-nothing is exempt from His Care.
ਦੁਨੀਆ (ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ) ਖੋਟੀ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਕਮਾਈ ਕੂੜ (ਦਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਹੈ) ।
Investing counterfeit capital, they earn only falsehood in the world.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ! ਨਿਰੋਲ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਏਥੋਂ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧੪।
O Nanak, singing the Praises of the Pure, True Lord, they depart with honor. ||14||
ਉੱਚੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ
From the Perfect Guru, the way to salvation is obtained.
ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਇਕ ਬਹਤ ਵਿਹੁਲੀ ਘੁੰਮਣਘੇਰੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ (ਤੇ ਉੱਚਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਕੇ) ਇਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
This world is a terrifying ocean of poison; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the Lord helps us cross over. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸੰਸਾਰ (ਦਾ ਮੋਹ) ਜ਼ਹਰ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)
O Father, I have seen that the world is poison.
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਇਸ ਜ਼ਹਰ ਤੋਂ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖ, ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Save me, O Lord of the Universe! Your Name is my only Support. ||1||Pause||
(ਪਰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਉਹ) ਪਰਦੇਸੀ ਜੀਊੜੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਰਸਤਾ ਖੁੰਝ ਕੇ ਤੁਰੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ । (ਮਾਇਆ-ਮੋਹਿਆ) ਜਗਤ ਉਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਔਖਾ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਜੰਜਾਲ ਪਾਈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
The travellers travel from one road to another.
(ਮਾਇਆ-ਮੋਹੇ) ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ।੧।
The world is engrossed in its entanglements, and does not appreciate the Truth. ||1||
(ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਸੇ) ਮਦਾਰੀ ਨੇ (ਕੋਈ) ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਰਚਾਇਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਲੋਕ ਉਸ ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਘੜੀਆਂ ਪਲਾਂ ਪਿਛੋਂ ਉਹ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਹ) ਸੰਸਾਰ (ਇਕ) ਖੇਡ (ਹੀ) ਹੈ ।
The drama of the world is staged like the show of a buffoon.
ਘੜੀ ਪਲ ਇਹ ਖੇਡ ਵੇਖੀਦੀ ਹੈ । ਇਸ ਦੇ ਉਜੜਦਿਆਂ ਚਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ।੪।
For an instant, for a moment, the show is seen, but it disappears in no time at all. ||4||
ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।
This world is the room of the True Lord; within it is the dwelling of the True Lord.
ਕਈ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ (ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਾਗਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਕੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਇਸੇ ਵਿਚ ਡੋਬ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
By His Command, some are merged into Him, and some, by His Command, are destroyed.
(ਇਸ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਮਾਨ) ਛਲ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਛਲ ਵਿਚ ਮੋਹ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਭੁੱਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ।
The false ones love falsehood, and forget their Creator.
(ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ) ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਮੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ।
With whom should I become friends, if all the world shall pass away?
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਗਤ ਮੁਸਾਫ਼ਿਰ ਹੈ (ਫਿਰ ਭੀ,) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਬੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
The world is like a temporary way-station, but it is filled with pride.
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਕੌਤਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਜੀਵ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
People commit countless sins; they are dyed in the color of the love of Maya.
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਦਿਲ! ਤੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਜਾਣ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹੈ
The world is a transitory place of mortality - know this for certain in your mind.
ਹੇ ਦਿਲ! ਤੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਕਿ (ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ) ਅਜ਼ਰਾਈਲ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਦੇ ਵਾਲ ਫੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Azraa-eel, the Messenger of Death, has caught me by the hair on my head, and yet, I do not know it at all in my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ! ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਅੱਖੀਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹੈ
O human being, whatever you can see with your eyes, shall perish.
ਪਰ ਦੁਨੀਆ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਲਾਲਚ ਵਿਚ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਭੁੱਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਹਰਾਮ ਖਾਂਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਪਰਾਇਆ ਹੱਕ ਖੋਂਹਦੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ) ।ਰਹਾਉ।
The world eats dead carcasses, living by neglect and greed. ||Pause||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—ਹੇ ਮਨ!) ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਹੀ ਸਮਝ (ਕਿ ਇਥੇ) ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਤਕ ਹੀ ਵਰਤਣ-ਵਿਹਾਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
Your worldly affairs exist only as long as you are alive; know this well.
ਉਂਞ, ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੀ ਹੈ । (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਜਦ ਤਕ ਜੀਊਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹੁ ।੨।੨।
O Nanak, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord; everything is like a dream. ||2||2||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ) ਦਿਲ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਖੋਜ, (ਬਹਿਸ ਮੁਬਾਹਸੇ ਦੀ) ਘਬਰਾਹਟ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਹ ਭਟਕ
O human being, search your own heart every day, and do not wander around in confusion.
ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਇਕ ਜਾਦੂ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਇਕ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਇਸ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਵਾਦ-ਵਿਵਾਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਹੱਥ-ਪੱਲੇ ਪੈਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਕੋਈ ਸ਼ੈ ਨਹੀਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
This world is just a magic-show; no one will be holding your hand. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ-ਜਾਨ ਹੈਂ,
O Supreme Soul of the World,
ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਚ-ਮੁਚ ਦੀ ਰਚੀ ਹੋਈ ਖੇਡ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਇਕ ਖੇਡ ਹੀ, ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ, ਪਰ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਭਰਮ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਚ-ਮੁਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ) ।
Your play is true.
(ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਮਨ!) ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਇਉਂ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ (ਸੁੱਤੇ ਪਿਆਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ) ਸੁਪਨਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
This world is like a dream in the night.
ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹੈ । ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਉਂ ਮੋਹ ਬਣਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ? ।੨।
All that is seen shall perish. Why are you attached to it, you fool? ||2||
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕਰੋ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਗ਼ੈਰ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਸੇ, ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖੋ ।
Do not look upon any other than the Lord; the Lord alone is worthy of beholding.
(ਹੇ ਅੱਖੀਓ!) ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀ ਵੇਖ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹੋ, ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਦਿੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।
This whole world which you see is the image of the Lord; only the image of the Lord is seen.
ਕੱਲਰ ਵਿਚ ਖੇਤੀ ਬੀਜ ਕੇ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ, ਦਰਿਆ ਕੰਢੇ ਉੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਨਾਣਾ ਭੁੱਲ ਹੈ, ਜਿਥੇ ਕਾਲਖ ਉਡ ਉਡ ਕੇ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਉਥੇ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਚਿੱਟੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਹਿਨਦੇ ਹਨ (ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਕਾਲਖ ਨਾਹ ਲੱਗਣ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਭੁੱਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ)
He is like the crop planted in the salty soil, or the tree growing on the river bank, or the white clothes sprinkled with dirt.
ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਕੋਠੀ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਫਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਨਿਕਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ) ਉਹ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ (ਗ਼ਰਕ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ-ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੬।
This world is the house of desire; whoever enters it, is burnt down by egotistical pride. ||6||
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਗਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ।
When He so willed, He created the world.
ਇਸ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ-ਖਿਲਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਕਿਸੇ ਦਿੱਸਦੇ) ਸਹਾਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੀ (ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਥਾਂ) ਟਿਕਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ।
Without any supporting power, He sustained the universe.
(ਅਸਲ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕੀ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੈ) ਜਗਤ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਰਛਾਵਾਂ ਹੈ (ਜਦੋਂ ਚਾਹੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਸ ਪਰਛਾਵੇਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਗੁੰਮ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ।
The world is a reflection of Him; He has no father or mother.
ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਪਿਉ ਨਾਹ ਮਾਂ, ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਭੈਣ ਨਾਹ ਭਾਈ ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਕੋਈ ਸੇਵਕ ।
He has not acquired any sister or brother.
ਪਰ (ਅੰਞਾਣ-ਪੁਣੇ ਵਿਚ) ਦੁਨੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਦੋਸ਼ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
One who blames the world, and is angry with people,
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।
shall receive the fruits of his own actions. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਸੁਆਹ (ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ) ਹੈ, ਨਿਰੀ ਸੁਆਹ ਹੀ ਸੁਆਹ ਹੈ, ਨਿਰੀ ਖੇਹ ਹੀ ਖੇਹ ਹੈ ।
O Nanak, worldly pleasures are nothing more than dust. They are the dust of the dust of ashes.
(ਇਹਨਾਂ ਰੰਗ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਜੀਵ, ਮਾਨੋ,) ਖੇਹ ਹੀ ਖੇਹ ਕਮਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਜਿਉਂ ਜਿਉਂ ਇਹ ਖੇਹ ਇਕੱਠੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਿਉਂ ਤਿਉਂ) ਇਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਖੇਹ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਲਿੱਬੜਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The mortal earns only the dust of the dust; his body is covered with dust.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ) ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ;
O Nanak, this world is all water; everything came from water.
ਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੰਦਾ (ਇਹ ਗੱਲ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਜੋ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
By Guru's Grace, a rare few realize the Lord; such humble beings are liberated forever. ||2||
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਲੁਕਵੀਂ ਅੱਗ ਹੈ ,ਕੁਝ ਸੂਝ-ਬੂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ ।
I know nothing; I understand nothing. The world is a smouldering fire.
ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਂਈ ਨੇ (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ,ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ (ਬਾਕੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ) ਮੈਂ ਭੀ (ਇਸ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ।੩।
My Lord did well to warn me about it; otherwise, I would have been burnt as well. ||3||
ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਇਹ ਦੁਨੀਆ (ਇਕ) ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਾਗ਼ ਹੈ ,ਪੰਛੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਡਾਰ ਪਰਾਹੁਣੀ ਹੈ ।
Fareed, the bird is a guest in this beautiful world-garden.
ਜਦੋਂ ਸਵੇਰ ਦਾ ਧੌਂਸਾ ਵੱਜਾ (ਸਭ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਤ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਤੁਰ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ) । (ਹੇ ਫਰੀਦ! ਇਹ ‘ਟੋਏ ਟਿੱਬੇ’ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ, ਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਭੀ) ਤੁਰਨ ਦੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਕਰ ।੭੯।
The morning drums are beating - get ready to leave! ||79||
ਹੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸੱਚੀ ਜਾਣ ਕਿ ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਹੈ ।
The world and its affairs are totally false; know this well, my friend.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ— ਰੇਤ ਦੀ ਕੰਧ ਵਾਂਗ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।੪੯।
Says Nanak, it is like a wall of sand; it shall not endure. ||49||
