ਇਸ ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ (ਇਸਤਰੀ ਤੇ ਪਤੀ) ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸੰਬੰਧਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਆ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
In the Dark Age of Kali Yuga, they come together through destiny.
ਜਿਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਹੁਕਮ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ (ਦੋਵੇਂ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ) ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
As long as the Lord commands, they enjoy their pleasures. ||1||
(ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਅਭਾਵ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਦਰਲੀ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ-ਠੰਢ ਦੀ) ਇਹ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਲੱਭਦੀ ਹੈ। (ਫਿਰ ਇਸ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਜੋਗੀਆਂ ਦਾ) ਜੋਗ ਤੁੱਛ ਹੈ, (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ) ਭੋਗਣਾ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਚੀਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ
Meeting with the Holy, the perfection of the Siddhas is obtained. What good is Yoga or indulgence in pleasures?
ਜਦੋਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ-ਰੂਪ ਨਤੀਜਾ ਨਿਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ ।
When the two meet together, the business is conducted, and the link with the Lord's Name is established. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਅਪਹੰੁਚ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ (ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ) ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਣ (ਤੇ ਉਪਾਧੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ) ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ।
God is profound and merciful, lofty and exalted; He gives Sanctuary to the Holy.
ਪਰ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਸੰਜੋਗ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੰੁਦਾ ਹੈ ।੪।੧।੨੭।
He alone obtains the Lord, O Nanak, who is blessed with such pre-ordained destiny to meet Him. ||4||1||27||
(ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਭਟਕਣਾ, ਲੋਭ, ਮੋਹ, ਆਦਿਕ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਮੇਰੇ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ ਗਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ।
Doubt, greed, emotional attachment and corruption are taken away; joining with my companions, I sing the songs of joy.
ਹੁਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਢਹਿ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਹੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੋਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੇ ਲੇਖ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦੇ ਲੇਖ ਨੂੰ ਉਜਾਗਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ।੪।੨।
Prays Nanak, I meditate on the Saint, who has led me to merge with the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||2||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਉਹ ਢੋ ਢੁਕਾ
May there be such an auspicious time, O my Beloved,
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਮੇਰੀ) ਜੀਭ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦੀ ਰਹੇ ।੧।
when, with my tongue, I may chant the Lord's Name||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ (ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪੱਕਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
He implants the Mantra of the Lord's Name, and eradicates the illness of egotism.
ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਧੁਰੋਂ ਇਹ ਮੇਲ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
O Nanak, he alone meets the True Guru, who has such union pre-ordained. ||1||
