ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਧਨ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਮੱੁਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਅਸਲ ਧਨ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ) ਅਸਲ ਧਨ (ਹੈ ਉਸ) ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ ।
He calls the counterfeit genuine, and does not know the value of the genuine.
ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਆਖਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ—ਇਹ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਚਾਲ ਹੈ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਸਮੇ ਦੀ ।੩।
The blind man is known as an appraiser; this Dark Age of Kali Yuga is so strange! ||3||
ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਨਿਰਾ) ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਰਾਹ ਲੱਭ ਲਏ?
By listening, how can the blind find the path?
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆਪ ਇਸ ਦਾ) ਹੱਥ ਫੜ ਲਵੋ (ਤਾਕਿ ਇਹ) ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਤਕ (ਪ੍ਰੀਤ) ਨਿਬਾਹ ਸਕੇ ।
Take hold of his hand, and then he can reach his destination.
(ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਦਾ) ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ
The blind, self-willed manmukh finds no place of rest.
(ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਇਉਂ ਹੀ) ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੰੁਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਗੰਦ ਦਾ ਕੀੜਾ ਗੰਦ ਵਿਚ ।੨।
He is a maggot in manure, and in manure he shall rot away. ||2||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਪਏ ਰਤਨ ਪਰਖਣ,
O Nanak, the blind man may go to appraise the jewels,
ਉਹ ਰਤਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਦਰ ਤਾਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਪਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਨਸ਼ਰ ਕਰਾ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਆਪਣਾ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ-ਪਨ ਜ਼ਾਹਰ ਕਰ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੧।
but he will not know their value; he will return home after exposing his ignorance. ||1||
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ-ਹੀਣ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਂ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖਦੇ,
How can someone be called blind, if he was made blind by the Lord's Command?
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ।੩।
O Nanak, one who does not understand the Hukam of the Lord's Command should be called blind. ||3||
ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਉਹ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਜੋ ਸਮਝ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣਾ ਹੈ),
They alone are blind, who act blindly. They have no eyes in their hearts.
ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਸੋਚਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਆਪ ਭੀ ਤਾਂ) ਮਾਂ ਤੇ ਪਿਉ ਦੀ ਰੱਤ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਮੱਛੀ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਦੇ ਮਾਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਰਹੇਜ਼ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਮਾਸ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮਾਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਰਹੇਜ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੀਹ ਭਾਵ? ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਭੀ ਤਾਂ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਉ ਦੇ ਮਾਸ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਸਰੀਰ ਪਲਿਆ ਹੈ) ।
They are produced from the blood of their mothers and fathers, but they do not eat fish or meat.
