(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ (ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ) ਅੰਤ ਸਮੇਂ ਭੀ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
At the very last moment, God becomes the mortal's Help and Support; here and hereafter, He is the Savior Lord.
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ—) ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਸ ਐਸਾ ਧਨ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਹਿਤੂ ਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ ।੪।੬।੪੫।
He is my breath of life, my friend, support and wealth; O Nanak, I am forever a sacrifice to Him. ||4||6||45||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦਾ) ਚਿੱਤ ਮੋਹ ਨਾਲ ਬੱਝਾ ਹੰੁਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਇਹੀ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ‘ਇਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੈ’ ।
All say, "Mine, mine", and attach their consciousness to you with love.
ਪਰ ਅਖ਼ੀਰਲੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਸਾਥੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਦਾ । (ਜਗਤ ਦੀ) ਇਹ ਅਚਰਜ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਚਲੀ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ।੧।
But at the very last moment, none shall go along with you. How strange are the ways of the world! ||1||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੁ ।
O my mind, remember always the Dear Lord.
ਅਖ਼ੀਰਲੇ ਸਮੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਬਣੇਗਾ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਥ ਨਿਬਾਹੇਗਾ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
At the very last moment, He alone shall be your best friend; He shall always stand by you. ||Pause||
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭੁੱਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨ! (ਰੋਜ਼ੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ) ਧੋਖਾ ਫ਼ਰੇਬ ਨਾਹ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ
O my mind, do not practice deception, even inadvertently.
ਆਖ਼ਰ ਨੂੰ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਮੰਦ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ) ਲੇਖਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
In the end, your own soul shall have to answer for its account. ||1||Pause||
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਅਖ਼ੀਰਲੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਕੋਈ (ਸਾਕ ਅੰਗ) ਸਾਥੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣ ਸਕਦਾ
No one is anyone's companion or helper at the very last moment;
(ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਉਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
as Gurmukh, I realize You and praise You.
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਐਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਭਜਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਕਦੋਂ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ?
If you do not vibrate and meditate on Him now, when will you, O Sibing of Destiny?
ਜਦੋਂ ਮੌਤ (ਸਿਰ ਤੇ) ਆ ਅੱਪੜੀ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਤਾਂ ਭਜਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕੇਗਾ ।
When the end comes, you will not be able to vibrate and meditate on Him.
ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਕਿਉਂ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ?
You fool! How can you have forgotten the Lord's Name?
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਅੰਤ ਸਮੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਆ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
At the very last moment, it and it alone shall be of any use to you. ||1||Pause||
