ਪਉੜੀ ॥

Pauree:

ਇਸੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਮੋ ਨਾਲਿ ਚਲੈ ॥

ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ (ਜੀਵ ਲਈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਹੀ (ਅਸਲ) ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ, ‘ਨਾਮ’ ਹੀ (ਇਥੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਨਾਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,

In this age, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the treasure. Only the Naam goes along in the end.

ਏਹੁ ਅਖੁਟੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਨਿਖੁਟਈ ਖਾਇ ਖਰਚਿਉ ਪਲੈ ॥

ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਅਮੁੱਕ ਹੈ ਕਦੇ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਬੇਸ਼ਕ ਖਾਓ ਖਰਚੋ ਤੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਬੰਨੋ੍ਹ;

It is inexhaustible; it is never empty, no matter how much one may eat, consume or spend.

ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਜਮਕੰਕਰ ਜਮਕਲੈ ॥

(ਫਿਰ, ਇਸ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਵਾਲੇ) ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਜਮਕਾਲ ਜਮਦੂਤ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ ।

The Messenger of Death does not even approach the humble servant of the Lord.

ਸੇ ਸਾਹ ਸਚੇ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਪਲੈ ॥

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਹਨ ਉਹੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਵਪਾਰੀ ਹਨ ।

They alone are the true bankers and traders, who have the wealth of the Lord in their laps.

ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਾ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਘਲੈ ॥੧੫॥

ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਪ (ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਭੇਜਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧੫।

By the Lord's Mercy, one finds the Lord, only when the Lord Himself sends for him. ||15||
