ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਇਕ-ਮਨ ਇਕ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Your humble servants focus their consciousness and meditate on You with one-pointed mind; those Holy beings find peace, chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, the Treasure of Bliss.
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ! ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
They sing Your Praises, God, meeting with the Holy, the Holy people, and the Guru, the True Guru, O Lord God. ||1||
ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਤੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਜਾਣੋ
They alone obtain the fruit of peace, within whose hearts You, O my Lord and Master, abide. They cross over the terrifying world-ocean - they are known as the Lord's devotees.
। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ! ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖ, ਸੇਵਾ ਵਿਚ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖ ।੨।੬।੧੨।
Please enjoin me to their service, Lord, please enjoin me to their service. O Lord God, You, You, You, You, You are the Lord of servant Nanak. ||2||6||12||

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਚ) ਸਾਰੀ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ
Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the World, the Treasure of Mercy.
ਉਸ ਦੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ, ਆਓ, ਰਲ ਕੇ ਮਾਇਆ-ਦੇ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਿਆ ਕਰੀਏ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
The True Guru is the Destroyer of pain, the Giver of peace; meeting Him, one is totally fulfilled. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਨਾਮ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ) ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Meditate in remembrance on the Naam, the Support of the mind.
ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਕੋ੍ਰੜਾਂ ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਵਿਚ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
Millions of sinners are carried across in an instant. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਚੇਤੇ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ
Whoever remembers his Guru,
ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ।੨।
shall not suffer sorrow, even in dreams. ||2||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਿਆਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ
Whoever keeps his Guru enshrined within
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਚੱਖਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
- that humble being tastes the sublime essence of the Lord with his tongue. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—(ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉਤੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ,
Says Nanak, the Guru has been Kind to me;
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਉਜਲੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ।੪
here and herafter, my face is radiant. ||4||1||
Kaanraa, Fifth Mehl:
ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਮੈਂ (ਸਦਾ) ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ
I worship and adore You, my Lord and Master.
। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਉਠਦਿਆਂ, ਬੈਠਦਿਆਂ, ਸੁੱਤਿਆਂ, ਜਾਗਦਿਆਂ, ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Standing up and sitting down, while sleeping and awake, with each and every breath, I meditate on the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides within the hearts of those,
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ (ਨਾਮ ਦੀ) ਦਾਤਿ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ
whose Lord and Master blesses them with this gift. ||1||
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਲੋਂ) ਠੰਢ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੨।
Peace and tranquility come into the hearts of those
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
who meet their Lord and Master, through the Word of the Guru. ||2||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਹੀ ਹੈ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਆਣਾ
Those whom the Guru blesses with the Mantra of the Naam are wise, and blessed with all powers,. ||3||
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ (ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੪।੭।
Says Nanak, I am a sacrifice to those
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਬਖੇੜਿਆਂ-ਭਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ,
who are blessed with the Name in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga. ||4||2||
Kaanraa, Fifth Mehl:
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜੀਭ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ
Sing the Praises of God, O my tongue.
। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੰਤ-ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਾਰੀ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਵੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Humbly bow to the Saints, over and over again; through them, the Feet of the Lord of the Universe shall come to abide within you. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਢੰਗ ਵਰਤ ਕੇ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ
The Door to the Lord cannot be found by any other means.
। ਜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦਇਵਾਨ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੧।
When He becomes Merciful, we come to meditate on the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਤੀਰਥ-ਯਾਤ੍ਰਾ ਆਦਿਕ) ਕੋ੍ਰੜਾਂ ਹੀ (ਮਿਥੇ ਹੋਏ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ) ਕਰਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਸਰੀਰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ
The body is not purified by millions of rituals.
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਜਾਗਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
The mind is awakened and enlightened only in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||2||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਕੋ੍ਰੜਾਂ ਕਰਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਭੀ ਇਸ) ਬਹੁ-ਰੰਗੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਟਦੀ
Thirst and desire are not quenched by enjoying the many pleasures of Maya.
ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੩।
Chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, total peace is found. ||3||
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ—(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਦੋਂ (ਕਿਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਉੱਤੇ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ,
When the Supreme Lord God becomes Merciful,
ਤਦੋਂ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀਆਂ (ਸਾਰੀਆਂ) ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ।੪।੩।
says Nanak, then one is rid of worldly entanglements. ||4||3||

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ (ਦਾਤਿ) ਮੰਗ
Beg for such blessings from the Lord of the Universe:
ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਟਹਲ (ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹੇ, ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਾਥ (ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹੇ, ਅਤੇ) ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ (ਮੈਂ) ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ (ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ) ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ
to work for the Saints, and the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. Chanting the Name of the Lord, the supreme status is obtained. ||1||Pause||
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਹ ਮੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਮੰਗ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ
Worship the Feet of Your Lord and Master, and seek His Sanctuary.
(ਇਹ ਮੰਗ ਕਿ) ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਖ ਸਮਝਾਂ ।੧।
Take joy in whatever God does. ||1||
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਦੁਰਲੱਭ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੨।
